Official Data Is Available On Website On 3rd Day: Former CEC N Gopalaswami On ECI Poll Data Delay

- A voter turnout of 66.14 per cent was recorded in Phase 1 and 66.71 per cent was recorded in Phase of Lok Sabha elections, the Election Commission said on Tuesday. The first phase of polling was held on April 19 across 102 constituencies and the second phase was held on April 26 for 88 constituencies. There was a drop in voter turnout in the two phases as compared to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. A voter turnout of 69.43 and 69.17 per cent in the first and second phases respectively was recorded in the 2019 polls. In the first phase of polling, Lakshadweep (84.16%) recorded the highest voter percentage while Bihar (49.26%) recorded the lowest voter turnout of the twenty-21 states and Union Territories that voted on April 19.

Not every polling station has multiple polling agents. Many polling stations have only one agent (of course the ruling party).

On May 17, the Supreme Court had asked why the EC could not upload voter turnout details.
On May 23 The Election Commission (EC) told the Supreme Court that there was no “legal mandate” to provide the voter turnout data to any person other than electoral candidates or his agents.

What Goplaswami sir is saying is, the information is always upto date in the website, but the EC would give a handout to media as a news byte, that was done late. But media could have always checked the website if they were in hurry, which they didnt. Because media wanted to do politics more than gathering information

ECI is not publishing the data. Even in the Court ECI argued that a citizen doesn't have any legal right to ask for the data.
