@@los33010 Not sure! Check w/the seller - on the website it says 2015-2019 - I know in 2020 Infiniti started supporting Carplay/Android Auto from the factory ,so you might have a totally different unit in there?

I just got my 3rd Q50 , I never understood why a clock would appear in the top screen on some videos? It's always been my GPS /Map. Not even sure if my top window can show a clock LOL. I guess it's an option. I now understand why some don't like the layout after listening to your comments. I have always liked it, but totally now understand why some would dislike it. Anyway guess you already know the 2021 has Apple Carplay standard now along with a bunch of new stuff. Power folding mirrors...... Anyway thanks for the INFO stay safe all Thanks!

no bro, if you have a clock on the top screen it means you have the base model with no navigation. the top screen is meant for navigation if you have the package.

Got my Q50 back in November, always wanted one, you can say my dream car at 53 years old ! I love it and still trying to learn what it can all do. Ive tried everything "i" know on how to temporary get rid of the Nav, i know you can hold down the middle button to make it go away, but you also loose the bottom screen at the same time. Id be happy with the analog clock you have on yours, how can you do that ? just stumbled upon your channel a few days ago, you got a new Sub !
Congrats on the Q and thanks for the sub Roy!! Unfortunately I don't there's any way to do what ur looking for other than shutting down both screens. These 2 screen systems look great at a glance but once u actually use them it's clear they weren't well-thought-out 😓
SO TRUE I have had mine a couple years now and as much as I paid for this car it is not very smart!! I love that u figured out how to play videos on the top screen. If u do not mind what did they hit u for on the kit? In the video it looked like it was around $500 but when i click the link its like $1100 so I am wondering if I am looking at the right kit. Don't jump!! Not a dealbreaker. The only difference is the top screen. U could get a screen from a newer Q on ebay and this would work. Last time I checked they were like $70
I’m with you. I just got my 2014 and there has to be more of a purpose for the top screen other than a little clock of what’s playing on my BT

Do these kits fix the q50s laggy music input ? For example when you skip to the next song or press play for a song it takes couple of seconds to actually start playing.

Hey man, your videos are amazing I love them all, well the ones about q50’s, since I have a red sport. I wanted to ask you a question, does the aucar mark5 work with a WiFi or Bluetooth obd adapter, to see car stats on the screen?

Yeah the MK5 works with (and comes with) a wifi ODB2 adapter that works with torque or any other app. It doesn't have open Bluetooth, so you can't use a Bluetooth ODB2 adapter, only a wifi one.
That sucks if you’re using the Bluetooth Ecutek dongle that 95% of people use.
I just got a 2017 Q50. It doesn’t have Nav, will this still work? And the link doesn’t work, what device are you using?

This unit can play youtube videos, or videos saved to a usb thumb drive. There's a tablet version that also supports Netflix and other apps that's a bit more $$. Thx for the support, stay tuned!

Yo what up man, dope ass video . I installed my kit on my 15’ Q50. I just can’t seem to figure out how to give internet to my unit to use apps like CZcams to play videos, do you know how to by any chance??
I just use my phone as a hotspot and connect the MK5 wifi to it 👍🏾

Not sure man it's not a tablet with Play Store so you'd probably need to flash custom firmware or something

On the site they have two option the more expensive model... car you do more with iOS apple play part?
The one in my video is the less expensive model. The more expensive one is more like an android tablet. I’m not sure, but I’d imagine the CarPlay would be quite similar on both.
got mine installed yesterday. So far i hate it. The youtube sound is hideous. The aux plug on the back of the unit did not work, had to plug it into the jack inside the armrest. The main purpose i bought it was for ecutek. Worked fine and all of a sudden it cant recognize the vehicle.

Lmao yeah the JA was no bueno. Unfortunately the Smartautokits is wired AA only. And the USB connection doesnt fast charge. Still 1000% better than joyeauto tho 😅

Man this is a TOUGH question lol.
I LOVED the smartautokits, mostly for the function it added. It was also pretty responsive to touch/opening apps/etc. Downsides: you HAD to plug in your phone for navigation/apps/music/etc which was a hassle, and I didnt like wires always being visible.
The new Tesla screen is a TOTAL visual flex. It's a conversation piece and it elevates the interior. My phone provides it wifi, so no wires/waiting for connection - it's ready to go when the car starts up.
Only downside is I find it a shade less responsive, especially when multitasking.
In a nutshell, the MK5 Tesla screen wins... but only by a hair.

Don't think so. You can choose a splash screen image that displays on startup (it has INFINITI and GT-R logos as the 2 default options).

This device would do it, but you'd need to install a screen from a 2015+ Q. They can be had for less than $100 on ebay

I believe the clock only displays on models that don't have OEM nav. Don't worry ur not missing much!

Works in parallel. You can switch between the stock system and the android system.
Does it fit the 2021 model of the q50?
Not sure about that. I know the Q infotainment got upgraded in 2020 to include carplay on the top screens. Check out the website or dm me @veeqfiddy I can get u contact info for seller

Yup. Works with any 2015+ configuration, incl those with 360 cameras. My 2015 didn't have nav either.

How do you install this product ?
The unit itself sits in the middle under your AV knob. It has wires that run up behind the top screen. Easy install - it's way less scary than it sounds

What the difference in the two option offered on the site provided?
The one I have is a piggyback unit with just a few preinstalled apps for video, CZcams, and CarPlay/android auto. The other option is a full tablet that allows you to load most any android app from the App Store.

Most of the time when I had this, I just played videos I saved on the device, or ran Android Auto for Spotify and Waze.
My bottom screen has went out. Do you know a place that replaces those at the prices showing online ranging from $150 to $250. The dealership tried to charge me 3 grand
Definitely skip the dealership if u can get the parts cheap. All this stuff can be installed with just a Phillips screwdriver 🪛
@@SquareWheelsAuto yea I just saw the climate control screens for around $75 -100 on Amazon. The video showed to be more unplugs than anything. I assume I need to make sure the part number match before buying
May want to find one that matches your year and features, just to avoid the need to get anything (re)coded at the dealer?

I talked with an install shop and they already knew about the high cost at dealership and referred me to look online. Basically $150 plus whatever they charge for install compared to 3 grand.

Congrats on the new Q! Yeah the SmartAutoKit unit from this video was great! I had it for over a year with no issues or complaints. I recently upgraded to a Tesla style screen (see my latest video) but I can't say enough good things about the SmartAutoKits units.

Done in under an hour. Trickiest part was running the wire behind the top screen. Not really hard just gotta follow the instructions to a T!

It's an easy DIY. A stereo installer is probably best but anyone relatively handy can do it.

Correct - if you have a 2014, you can get a top screen from a 2015+ off eBay and this'll work for you.
You think the Tesla screens will work with an aftermarket subwoofer and amp. This is for a 2014

It has play store so you can install any web browser. It also has a native Netflix app so u don't need to watch Netflix thru a browser 😅👍🏾

Nah it doesn't, even wired CarPlay connection with sound through the AUX input has delay.
The top screen displays the navigation tho...not just a clock
True. OE navigation is useless too IMO! No comparison to Google/Apple nav or Waze.

Thx! I could do a whole video on how bad it was lol. It was so glitchy. It randomly rebooted, Android auto never worked wirelessly, and wired would throw error messages. There was no way to force it to reboot, so it would brick itself and be unusable for days. The seller said the support from the manufacturer was poor and they didn't offer firmware updates. The smartautokits unit is the polar opposite. Clear difference in build quality too.

I only use iOS so ive never tried AndroidAuto but CarPlay is freaking amazing, wireless and everything. Maybe you had a bad unit or something? But yea these are some dope ass mods to do.
