  • @investinjahcoin5029

    As an Infiniti tech myself, I highly recommend changing your transmission fluid if your vehicle has less than like 150k miles. And changing it every 30k or so after that. It’ll help that tranny last longer and stay healthier. If you bring it somewhere ask for a drain and fill. With Nissan matic S. Or you can diy. It’s fairly simple. I always drop the pan and clean the small metal screen inside on my personal car.
    One fluid I don’t really recommend changing is the transfer case fluid if you are awd. We actually have seen a good chunk of cars that had their transfer case fluid changed, need transfer cases shortly after. Especially higher Milage ones. I believe it has something to do with the clutches breaking down and clogging things or getting stuck in bad places when draining. Only top it off. Too risky in my opinion!
    Had an older lady’s transfer case go out two weeks ago after she got her fluid changed unfortunately. 😢

      Happy to find u guys, thanks for putting these info out. Is there an AFTER MARKET differential bushing available for the 2009 rwd FX35? I am badly in need for it. As INFINITI wants over 2000 dollars to replace this bushing. i live in the ORLANDO area, do you or anyone knows of any good infiniti mech in the area? i would really appreciate a reply regardless. thnx.

    • @investinjahcoin5029
      @investinjahcoin5029 Před 7 měsíci +1

      @ honestly I would just put some sort of epoxy inside the blown bushing. I’ve done it on three of my cars with no issues. It’s like a $5 fix instead of a few thousand dollar fix. I’ve used glass sealant or construction adhesive as well. It basically fills up the bushing cavity where the fluid is supposed to be. As long as it’s near the same hardness it’ll feel the same as a new bushing.
      MotorvateDIY on CZcams has a great video on it
      Or I would contact z1 motor sports and see if their diff bushing fits your fx. I don’t know off the top of my head

    with antifreeze, you can unplug the cabin heater core hose at the return-to-engine hose preferably or use the air bleeder port which is also on the heater core hose if you have one - careful its just plastic and will be brittle with high mileage so maybe get a aftermarket metal one or a new original before trying to open it. youll also need a snug fitting philips screw driver. then get one of those antifreeze fill funnels which makes an extra high fill point that will push the old fluid out within a few minutes and you dont have to bleed air out of the system. takes 2 gallons to get most of the old stuff out. i used a different brand and color antifreeze so that helped me figure out when the old stuff was all cleared out but you can count to 2 gallons if you use the same color.
    i heard transmission flush machines at dealers use too high pressure and thats what breaks it. you can drain your transmission and fill it at the transmission cooler return hose but you'll have to figure out how to get the new fluid in that return hose which honestly im not sure will even let fluid flow into the transmission, it wont go back into the the direction of the pump, though. if that doesn't work then find a hose that will fit into the drain pan fill port which is like a 1cm wide opening that takes forever to fill. the evils of taking away the transmission dipstick tube - deterring DIYers so you go back to dealer and give them money. and saying its lifetime fluid lol so your trans breaks and you need a new one or a new car. transmission fluids also have a time limit as well as a mileage limit which i hear is 8 years. the original nissan fluid was 12 years old but very low mileage and it was quite brown/oxidated. the transmission now shifts better too. make sure to count how many liters came out and put that much back in.
    for accidentally filling 87 fuel, put the car in eco mode and even then drive slowly with no hard acceleration attempts to prevent engine damage until you use up the gas tank.

    I have a 2015 Q50 with 66k and the tranny died this week. At dealership now. They said $3000. How can this happen when the car is like new?

      The trans on the VQ seems to be hit or miss. It’s unfortunate they didn’t have a recall on this

      Are you sure it wasn’t the valve body???? What were your problems ??

      It was exact symptoms. Wouldn’t shift past 3rd gear.

    My valve body dropped at 105k, I had the transmission flush at 60k, but that was not good enough, even though I didn't abuse her, the trans needs a change, every 36k, and dont drive in sport ever, and dont rev the rpms past 5 ever, then you shouldn't ever need to fix it, cost 3500 for the part install and program

      Damn it sucks you can't use sport mode unless you have to deal with expensive issues like this, luckily this car is fast enough in standard so i'll try to stay from it

      My valve body dropped at 66k. At the dealership now. Thanks for the advice on not using Sport. I rarely used it, I pretty much baby’d it.

      Did you replace it yourself ? If so how much was the new valve body ? Mine went yesterday

      I went to the local Nissan Dealer since it is closer to my house. $1200 for the valve body and a few other parts, but the total was $2954. I’ve never kept the car that long but since it was in perfect shape and only had 66,000 miles I figured I would be OK but I should have looked at the updated reviews over the last couple of years.

    Every hundred thousand miles you should replace the spark plugs on the 3.7L VQ. Coolant services should performed every 60,000 miles. Transmission service should be performed every 50,000 miles.

    • @SpeedCultureStudios
      @SpeedCultureStudios  Před 4 měsíci

      Spark plugs are supposed to be done every 25k but 50k is probably fine. 100k is WAY too far without a plug change. Please don’t wait 100k to change plugs! I agree with coolant service at 60k. Trans should not be touched before 75k unless it’s shifting weird and even at that should only be a drain and fill, not a full flush service.
