My fav is Ayato + Kazuha + Kokomi + Yun Jin. It's the most comfortable, easy to use, braindead comp ever. Kokomi + Kazuha to swirl, Yunjin ult, Ayato swish swish swish. And i even managed to DPS down the dendro chicken on floor 12 with this.... no other reaction needed other than Kazuha's swirl.

His slashes cover an insanely wide AoE (unlike childe and yelan), he's incredibly easy and relaxing to play, doesnt trigger the Mushroom's activated states because he's hydro, generally matches up well against all enemy types except hydro mages (which are nonexistent in sumeru for some reason), while looking cool while doing so. So yeah. He's good. Not mid. Good.

Ayato is perfectly fine since he’s flexible in multiple teams, while also being easy to play thanks to his WideHardo AoE. Even if he’s not BiS, you’ll still be able to 36* and clear Genshin content with him, especially now with Dendro introducing HyperBloom.
I want to say that since kuki release, Ayato and Kuki are my favorite overworld pair comp and imo possibly the best. No energy required, pretty much unkillable, destroy shields / stun enemies, excellent aoe range. I also use them in my taser comp with fischl and Kazuha that I 36 abyss with. Surprised she got no mention for his teams. I definitely recommend it!

When I found out about her older brother, and how he fought, I wanted to complete the pair and get him too. I also came to like his personality and his story. I'm a older brother myself to a younger sister and connected a bit. I also wanted another Hydro field unit for my comps. I levelled Childe but, his play style just wasn't exactly my favorite. Ayato ended up being much better than I expected and I was very very happy with him. Kuki. I never intended on getting her, but I wanted more Gorou cons for my Itto team and ended up with her. And I ended up actually loving her easy electro / Tenacity application and healing capability. The final realization that fully sold me on her, is the fact that I love co-op. And being able to heal a party, at will without a need for energy or a target (Barbara) pleased me a lot. I've always enjoyed healers in FFXIV and on the smallest scale, I got that. I also hadn't pulled for Kokomi. Lastly, Dendro wasn't out yet and I felt she may see her true potential with it's release. And FYI, I actually did build Xinyan. Matter of fact, being a guitarist, it was her trailer that got me to try out this game to begin with. I was like lol who is this guitar girl fighting monsters I need to try this game. She has her issues but she's playable with investment. She's actually pretty good on overworld too. I like making use of the infinite spin glitch with her from time to time. Better than Ayato and Kuki? I love Xinyan but idk about that one 🤔 lol I will say though, every now and again just to spice things up I've been considering building a pyro xinyan and c6ing Bennet. Could be fun. Heard some interesting things on Xinyan discord too 🤔 So yeah 🤷🏾 that's why

I have childe and yelan and I find myself using Ayato more of the time I think his kit has a nice blend of off field and on field hydro application and with burst and skill it’s smooth to have him on my team
Basically all the reasons you gave for him being a great generalist character are why I decided not to go for Wanderer or Al-Haitham and instead pull for him (I skipped him when he first came out to get Ayaka who I had skipped to get Raiden). I basically wanted Xingqiu on every single team and Ayato seemed like the best option to be a generalist hydro applicator who could take Xingqiu's slot on EVERY team which is what I was looking for. I'll get yelan and perhaps kokomi (depending on the hydro archon's kit) at some point but Ayato was what I felt I needed since my other hydro options were Mona and Barbara so I needed a generalist.
I pulled for ayato when he was realeased without even trying his trial (never cared abput dmg and such stuff) just because i really liked how he looks and his personality are just too perfect for me not to pull. And I never regreted it. Ayato improved my quality of life sm... Also I always bring him to thw abbys, bcs he is so good and confortable in combat. Before dendro my team for him was - Ayato, Fischl, Bennet, Jean and it was my strongest one lol. Now I do different teams for him depending on the enemies, but idk he slways seems to be erfect for them. Also the fact that he is so comfortable in exploration, since he uses only his E and it has very fast CD
Thanks to Schaufle, Zajef, and everyone else who contributed to this video. I've been looking forward to Ayato's re-run pretty much since his first banner started. I liked him from the get-go, but had to skip him in order to guarantee I got some other more "important" units. Lady Luck seemed to appreciate my restraint, and when this current banner dropped I won the 50/50 for him at only 39 pity. Naturally, I pre-farmed everything I needed for him and was able to get him functioning immediately, though his ER and Crit Damage are on the low side for my tastes (125% and 163% respectively). I run him on Gladiator's, so I'll passively get upgrades for him from bosses and the strongbox. Once I have the spare resources to build Keqing, I'll start putting a TF build together for him as well.

Ayato is for me one of the most fun and well designed characters in the whole game, his kit is really strong while also being so easy and so satisfying to play while also just fitting in pretty much most teams that want a hydro unit, oh and he's also really hot, he really just checks all the boxes doesn't he? I like him so much that i even went for his signature weapon, which as a low spender is something that i always avoid doing.
I have ayato and I'm so content with him. He and xq can make two teams of almost any type, and I almost never needed any other hydro besides them (except for freeze, mona when mihoyo?). Also I just finished my HoD build on him after 1 year and Tf salesman promotes Tf to me NOW. Guess I know what I'm using strongbox on...
Played Ayato since his release and back then I was an early 50s AR player and I just love the man he carried me everywhere and was able to clear Spiral abyss with him until I can full star it. I agree with the pros and cons Zajef mentioned about him but overall he's really a good char to have. I luckily got Mistsplitter and he uses it for a long time but now I'm on my way to get his Haran he deserve it.

I love ayato hyperbloom Specialy with double hydro (ayato nahida XQ + kuki or raiden) The double interuption resistance from his E and XQ make him very hard to knock back and they battery each other while the rotations feel smooth and easy to play . Also love the voice acting in the end , i wanted to hear the heh heh heh sounds when he slashes too haha

Ayato is a weird one for me. I own Kokomi, Childe, Nilou and Yelan, so I dont really need him. He also doesnt speak to me as a character design. Yet Hyperbloom Ayato or Nilou Ayato sounds very potent. This is going to be a long time of "peepoPonderingBanner". Ps. Thanks Schaufle!

I use Ayato-Ganyu-Venti-Diona in AOE situations and it's really good, y'all fellow ayato mains out there you should try it out (not the best but definitely fun😁)

I wanted to add one note because I love Ayato. Hyper Carry Ayato is what helped me 9 star the current 12th floor of the spiral abyss against the The Ruin Serpent and the Wolfs. Great grouping by Kazuha and amazing Aoe Damage with Ayato paired with Yun Jin and Bennett.

Long answer: -Yelan is an Off field Hydro dmg dealer/applier ,decent rate. -Being off field naturally is valuable in genshin meta. -For ppl who want a 2nd Xq in case their other team want it, here's Yelan. -Having her also enables the Yelan-Xq double hydro duo which is a great supportive pair in countless teams, universal and very strong duo. -Great for Hu tao player,her best teams include the duo now -Yoi players u just keep shining more n more ,here's Yelan...she's the upgrade -Great Raiden synergy...in most of her traditional teams u can put Yelan as a 4th sub dps which is pog, and even better than say a C6 Sara if doing that shit -She gained more value after dendro as a lot of more teams there where Hydro is imp, -Specially she's the premier option for Quickbloom teams,Koko as well. Cause of their not super fast Hydro app they can be used in some of those teams where they don't ruin Quicken while also adding Hyperbloom to team. Xq often is bad in those cause of fast Hydro app. -Raiden hyoerbloom is insane and double hydro with it is prolly one of the strongest teams in game rn,specially on ST ...or just Yelan+Koko or Zhong... It shreds so hard even C3R1 Raiden may be in shambles -Hydro is valuable,Yelan is future proof... -Yelan is great cause XQ has been great and hence having another XQ is a good thing. -Yelan V XQ is basically, Yelan:Lower hydro app, is more offensive,a bit of buffs to active char, Higher personal dmg. Quick tip for ayato's best f2p weapon. HoD is a very strong option if he's used in kuki hyperbloom instead if raiden. Kuki can keep above 90% as long you dont catch every hit. Hp% substats can easily get you abive 3k heals with kuki.

the downside with yunjin is that the damage she gives to ayato is actually too small even in single target to take up an entire party slot. she works for yoimiya because -yoimiya can vape, which means yunjin's flat damage also "vapes". -yoimiya is slotted with zhongli, so you get geo resonance as well -yoimiya has no ER requirement. ayato has astronomical ER requirements with 1 E per rotation. but if you do 2 ayato E per rotation, that means only half of your ayato's attacks get buffed by yunjin. if you're doing 2 Ayato E per rotation, might as well replace Yunjin with Fischl since she can refresh Oz for 100% uptime and provide far more damage than Yunjin's ult.
@@awong508 -Yunjin's damage is additive, she gives the same amount of bonus damage to both characters assuming Ayato and Yoimiya have comparable crit values. If anything, the large AoE of Ayato's slashes makes it easier to use all of Yunjin's charges in comparison to Yoimiya. -Assuming Ayato/Kazuha/Bennet/Yunjin vs Yoimiya/Xingqiu/Zhongli/Yunjin, both teams can Vape as Kazuha will infuse pyro with Bennet. Yoimiya more or less needs a shield character whereas Ayato has a baseline of increased resistance thanks to his skill for minor attacks. The Ayato team has clearly superior AoE w/ Kazuha/Bennet/Ayato while Yoimiya's team has better ranged damage in addition to not needing a circle to fight in. -Geo Resonance is compensation for lack of Bennet boost and Kazuha shred, hardly a bonus. The shred is also applicable only while the enemy is nearby the shield so it won't always be active while dealing ranged damage. -Hyper Ayato doesn't burst every rotation, assuming both Kazuha and Yunjin w/ favonius weapons, Ayato should burst every second rotation or not at all if the next fully buffed skill duration is enough to end the fight. Hyper Ayato shifts the value of his kit from the elemental application of his burst to his potent damage window during skill. It isn't uncommon for most fights to only need Yunjin burst and Ayato skill to close out a dps window with this team. Ayato's burst is long and eats into his buff duration, so it's optimal for starting a chamber and I-framing attacks. The burst's damage contribution is heavily skewed to it's longer duration (18 seconds) and split normal attack bonus, so unless a boss stays in the circle for the majority of it's duration then it isn't worth using if the boss has limited vulnerability time.
@@Freenos What? Have you actually played this team? You can't even vape off of Kazuha's pyro-infused burst because of its rate of pyro application. I would recommend reading up on elemental gauge theory. KQM has a guide on it. Having superior AoE to Yoimiya isn't something noteworthy. Everyone knows Yoimiya is awful at AoE. However, a Yoimiya team can draft Fischl Beidou Xingqiu and still beat your Ayato team in both AoE + single target. If you're not bursting every rotation on Ayato, how the hell can you get the Hydro on the enemy to swirl with Kazuha for the VV shred and buff? Ayato Yunjin Bennett Kazuha is just a deceptively unsynergetic team. Forcing a character that's designed to enable reactions, and hence having garbage (effective) multipliers, to be a hypercarry is not a good idea. You can definitely play him that way if you wish to see bigger blue numbers, but it's just an objectively bad team. KQM has already calculated this specific team's DPS at 26-28k, which is awful in comparison to the 40k+ his reaction-based teams do.
@@awong508 I have played this team every abyss that isn't Hydro immune and works well with high investment (as every hyper carry team should), the vape mentioned in the earlier post are for the initial slash and surrounding enemies caught in Kazuha's burst while Ayato's burst is down. It's not a sustained vape team, hyper Ayato is clearly a majority blue number team. Having good AoE is notable because we haven't had a SA cycle that's only been a single boss for three straight chambers yet and having flexibility is good. Yun Jin is a great teammate to bring to this abyss simply to deal with the Golden Wolflord in addition to boosting Ayato as a bonus. I've never said hyper Ayato was his best team but was simply defending Yun Jin in the team simply because Zajeff dismisses her as a single target unit which is fine because Kazuha and Ayato themselves can handle AoE wonderfully.
@@Freenos It's not good AoE. Yunjin gets only 30 stacks, meaning against 2 enemies Ayato will already exhaust all the stacks. The team doesn't even work well against Wolflord. Have you tried breaking the 3 skulls with Yunjin? You'll take over a minute just to deal with the skulls because Yunjin's E is horrible at breaking them. Since you're already using Bennett, you might as well replace Yunjin and Kazuha with Xiangling and Zhongli. Boom, an actually decent team. I think Zajef should've just said the truth: Yunjin is a horrible pairing with Ayato. Not just in AoE, but also in single target.
"You don't ever NEED Ayato" When do you ever NEED Raiden? Childe is there for national. Hyperbloom has Kuki. Eula is irrelevant. Raiden gets called flexible and high pull value due to being flexible and being able to slot in "anywhere", but Ayato doesn't?
The difference is Raiden is actually a BiS contender on the teams she fits, while Ayato isn't Edit: but you don't *NEED* anyone. Raiden, Nahida, Kazuha, Yelan, no one is a must pull

What i actually came to say is, well, i pulled for 3 kuki copies just for this team and got cyno in the process... the only time i got an early 5* had to be the most useless one (i just enjoy keqing more for the same dps). I have childe and yelan and I find myself using Ayato more of the time I think his kit has a nice blend of off field and on field hydro application and with burst and skill it’s smooth to have him on my team
Basically all the reasons you gave for him being a great generalist character are why I decided not to go for Wanderer or Al-Haitham and instead pull for him (I skipped him when he first came out to get Ayaka who I had skipped to get Raiden). I basically wanted Xingqiu on every single team and Ayato seemed like the best option to be a generalist hydro applicator who could take Xingqiu's slot on EVERY team which is what I was looking for. I'll get yelan and perhaps kokomi (depending on the hydro archon's kit) at some point but Ayato was what I felt I needed since my other hydro options were Mona and Barbara so I needed a generalist.
I just love Ayato, he's so good and so versatile

I pulled for ayato when he was realeased without even trying his trial (never cared abput dmg and such stuff) just because i really liked how he looks and his personality are just too perfect for me not to pull. And I never regreted it. Ayato improved my quality of life sm... Also I always bring him to thw abbys, bcs he is so good and confortable in combat. Before dendro my team for him was - Ayato, Fischl, Bennet, Jean and it was my strongest one lol. Now I do different teams for him depending on the enemies, but idk he slways seems to be erfect for them. Also the fact that he is so comfortable in exploration, since he uses only his E and it has very fast CD

I've been looking forward to Ayato's re-run pretty much since his first banner started. I liked him from the get-go, but had to skip him in order to guarantee I got some other more "important" units. Lady Luck seemed to appreciate my restraint, and when this current banner dropped I won the 50/50 for him at only 39 pity.
Naturally, I pre-farmed everything I needed for him and was able to get him functioning immediately, though his ER and Crit Damage are on the low side for my tastes (125% and 163% respectively). I run him on Gladiator's, so I'll passively get upgrades for him from bosses and the strongbox. Once I have the spare resources to build Keqing, I'll start putting a TF build together for him as well.

Ayato is for me one of the most fun and well designed characters in the whole game, his kit is really strong while also being so easy and so satisfying to play while also just fitting in pretty much most teams that want a hydro unit, oh and he's also really hot, he really just checks all the boxes doesn't he?
I like him so much that i even went for his signature weapon, which as a low spender is something that i always avoid doing.

I have ayato and I'm so content with him. He and xq can make two teams of almost any type, and I almost never needed any other hydro besides them (except for freeze, mona when mihoyo?). Also I just finished my HoD build on him after 1 year and Tf salesman promotes Tf to me NOW. Guess I know what I'm using strongbox on...

Played Ayato since his release and back then I was an early 50s AR player and I just love the man he carried me everywhere and was able to clear Spiral abyss with him until I can full star it. I agree with the pros and cons Zajef mentioned about him but overall he's really a good char to have. I luckily got Mistsplitter and he uses it for a long time but now I'm on my way to get his Haran he deserve it.

I wanted to add one note because I love Ayato. Hyper Carry Ayato is what helped me 9 star the current 12th floor of the spiral abyss against the The Ruin Serpent and the Wolfs. Great grouping by Kazuha and amazing Aoe Damage with Ayato paired with Yun Jin and Bennett.
If I'm not using Yun jin, I usually pair him with Yelan because she's broken and I get the hydro resonance + massive damage.

Short answer: Get Yelan,she's an upgrade to an acc imo ,extremely valuable to have.
Long answer:
-Yelan is an Off field Hydro dmg dealer/applier ,decent rate.
-Being off field naturally is valuable in genshin meta.
-For ppl who want a 2nd Xq in case their other team want it, here's Yelan.
-Having her also enables the Yelan-Xq double hydro duo which is a great supportive pair in countless teams, universal and very strong duo.
-Great for Hu tao player,her best teams include the duo now
-Yoi players u just keep shining more n more ,here's Yelan...she's the upgrade
-Great Raiden synergy...in most of her traditional teams u can put Yelan as a 4th sub dps which is pog, and even better than say a C6 Sara if doing that shit
-She gained more value after dendro as a lot of more teams there where Hydro is imp,
-Specially she's the premier option for Quickbloom teams,Koko as well.
Cause of their not super fast Hydro app they can be used in some of those teams where they don't ruin Quicken while also adding Hyperbloom to team.
Xq often is bad in those cause of fast Hydro app.

Quick tip for ayato's best f2p weapon.
HoD is a very strong option if he's used in kuki hyperbloom instead if raiden. Kuki can keep above 90% as long you dont catch every hit. Hp% substats can easily get you abive 3k heals with kuki.

18:50 Good thing the abyss is very boss rush centric atm so Yunjin being single target isn't a real downside.
the downside with yunjin is that the damage she gives to ayato is actually too small even in single target to take up an entire party slot.
she works for yoimiya because
-yoimiya can vape, which means yunjin's flat damage also "vapes".
-yoimiya is slotted with zhongli, so you get geo resonance as well
-yoimiya has no ER requirement. ayato has astronomical ER requirements with 1 E per rotation. but if you do 2 ayato E per rotation, that means only half of your ayato's attacks get buffed by yunjin. if you're doing 2 Ayato E per rotation, might as well replace Yunjin with Fischl since she can refresh Oz for 100% uptime and provide far more damage than Yunjin's ult.

-Yunjin's damage is additive, she gives the same amount of bonus damage to both characters assuming Ayato and Yoimiya have comparable crit values. If anything, the large AoE of Ayato's slashes makes it easier to use all of Yunjin's charges in comparison to Yoimiya.
-Assuming Ayato/Kazuha/Bennet/Yunjin vs Yoimiya/Xingqiu/Zhongli/Yunjin, both teams can Vape as Kazuha will infuse pyro with Bennet. Yoimiya more or less needs a shield character whereas Ayato has a baseline of increased resistance thanks to his skill for minor attacks. The Ayato team has clearly superior AoE w/ Kazuha/Bennet/Ayato while Yoimiya's team has better ranged damage in addition to not needing a circle to fight in.
-Geo Resonance is compensation for lack of Bennet boost and Kazuha shred, hardly a bonus. The shred is also applicable only while the enemy is nearby the shield so it won't always be active while dealing ranged damage.
-Hyper Ayato doesn't burst every rotation, assuming both Kazuha and Yunjin w/ favonius weapons, Ayato should burst every second rotation or not at all if the next fully buffed skill duration is enough to end the fight. Hyper Ayato shifts the value of his kit from the elemental application of his burst to his potent damage window during skill. It isn't uncommon for most fights to only need Yunjin burst and Ayato skill to close out a dps window with this team. Ayato's burst is long and eats into his buff duration, so it's optimal for starting a chamber and I-framing attacks. The burst's damage contribution is heavily skewed to it's longer duration (18 seconds) and split normal attack bonus, so unless a boss stays in the circle for the majority of it's duration then it isn't worth using if the boss has limited vulnerability time.

You can't even vape off of Kazuha's pyro-infused burst because of its rate of pyro application. I would recommend reading up on elemental gauge theory. KQM has a guide on it.
Having superior AoE to Yoimiya isn't something noteworthy. Everyone knows Yoimiya is awful at AoE. However, a Yoimiya team can draft Fischl Beidou Xingqiu and still beat your Ayato team in both AoE + single target.
If you're not bursting every rotation on Ayato, how the hell can you get the Hydro on the enemy to swirl with Kazuha for the VV shred and buff?
Ayato Yunjin Bennett Kazuha is just a deceptively unsynergetic team. Forcing a character that's designed to enable reactions, and hence having garbage (effective) multipliers, to be a hypercarry is not a good idea. You can definitely play him that way if you wish to see bigger blue numbers, but it's just an objectively bad team. KQM has already calculated this specific team's DPS at 26-28k, which is awful in comparison to the 40k+ his reaction-based teams do.

I have played this team every abyss that isn't Hydro immune and works well with high investment (as every hyper carry team should), the vape mentioned in the earlier post are for the initial slash and surrounding enemies caught in Kazuha's burst while Ayato's burst is down. It's not a sustained vape team, hyper Ayato is clearly a majority blue number team.
Having good AoE is notable because we haven't had a SA cycle that's only been a single boss for three straight chambers yet and having flexibility is good. Yun Jin is a great teammate to bring to this abyss simply to deal with the Golden Wolflord in addition to boosting Ayato as a bonus. I've never said hyper Ayato was his best team but was simply defending Yun Jin in the team simply because Zajeff dismisses her as a single target unit which is fine because Kazuha and Ayato themselves can handle AoE wonderfully.
@@Freenos It's not good AoE. Yunjin gets only 30 stacks, meaning against 2 enemies Ayato will already exhaust all the stacks.
The team doesn't even work well against Wolflord. Have you tried breaking the 3 skulls with Yunjin? You'll take over a minute just to deal with the skulls because Yunjin's E is horrible at breaking them.
Since you're already using Bennett, you might as well replace Yunjin and Kazuha with Xiangling and Zhongli. Boom, an actually decent team.
I think Zajef should've just said the truth: Yunjin is a horrible pairing with Ayato. Not just in AoE, but also in single target.
