I disagree with your comments about her version of this song. I heard it when it came out by the Kinks and they would probably love her interpretation of the song. The song is about a guy singing about the tax man and his girlfriend so her version is her way of making sense for a woman's version. And her outfit is sexy and cool!
Now there are those folks - believe it or not - who don't think too much about them Kinks. All it would take is 3:39 with you and they would be completely converted.

I guess you don't like Jazz 'cause Jazz vocalists certainly change up the melody line big time...check out Billie Holiday singing "Sunny Side of the Street".....very different than how it was originally sung.
