I am a big fan of Dan, his quiet wit is perfect next to Linus' over-the-top presentation.
And it doesn't hurt that he is so fucking cute 😅
@@stefanosanastasi99 whoa, sus
@@mikeware3785 there's nothing sus, i like men babe 😘
Wait what was the probation thing
Yea, he was really good. Savage, but subtle.
"That's a couple years, I think"
Dan is fucking hysterical. I want to see more of him.
Still waiting for him to get back to us after checking on that later. 🤣
“I’ll have to check that later”. ROFL that is some funny shit!!
And is it just me or has he gotten fit af
Then he says "I'll have to check that later..."
brilliant
oh dan is another person, meant dave
Dan's deadpan calmness when facing disaster is what pushes this video to a 10.
David's excitement, Adams ideas and Dan's "wizzardry" really made this an awesome video, goes without saying Linus smashed it as always! Thanks team!
Did anyone get the pun? Linus smashed it.. as in he always breaks something 🤣 "I smell smoke" 🤣🤣🤣
he didn't just smash it! he burnt it, broke it, and twisted it, too!
David looks nervous and is even sweating you can see in a couple spots him quickly wiping sweat off his head and onto his pants
Dan's dry sarcasm, combined with his perfectly deadpan and straight delivery, makes him the best addition to the team in years. I can't wait to see more of him.
Absolutely. I enjoyed every presenter in this video, - plenty of laughs throughout!
Dan is the perfect foil to Linus' and David's almost manic hysteria. His flat, understated sarcasm will always work best being bounced against a boisterous and high-energy personality.
You look like a nibbler-squiddler.
@@chaffix8459 h w2
the poor choice of wire makes him fit right in indeed! (looking at you alex)
"1990 is earlier than 1992"
"Yeah that's a couple years earlier I think, I'll have to check that later"
This guy is hilarious, give him more screen time
Such a perfect deadpan response there
I didn't hear anything they said for 30 seconds after that because I was laughing so hard
Dry humour done right
Would be interesting to see more of such mods done by Dan.
it's probably a Japanese Game Gear if it is from 1990.
I really like these more *organic* videos, like the one a few days ago where 3-4 hosts just barged in and gave their opinion, the level of chaos is really enjoyable, feels more real 😆
David's and Linus's excited vibe really mixes well with the calmer Dan's vibe hoping to see more of you all
15:35 I know exactly where that goes. I've been modding and replacing things in my Vita a lot lately. I've reopened that thing so many times. That piece is a bridge that helps screw down two motherboards. You use the blue tinted screws to secure it. The pink tinted screws go directly onto the motherboards while the plain silver ones are used for the chassis.
Was looking for this comment, I had to know 🤣
Boost this man, dammit.
Boost him to the moon. This needs to be seen
This is incorrect. The part lives underneath the plastic button cover on the top and uses a pink screw. It's in the middle right above the rear facing camera. The braces for the daughter boards are much larger.
Is Dan the Anthony of hardware? He is great, we need him in more videos!
“Yeah, yeah, you really screwed that up… I mean I really screwed that up.” 🤣
I definitely agree. And he seems to be the sarcastic and dry humor type of guy, too.
I had the same thoughts! Imagine Dan and Anthony team on an hadware / sofware video with linux
It's like I'm watching Naked Gun tech edition.
No, Dan is just flat out better.
Unfortunately, I find Anthony unwatchable :(
@@garethfairclough8715 why?
I already love Dan. Seems toned down at first glance, then go all the burns, fu**s and wizardry. Amazing
Dan is the man! I absolutely want to see more of him. His explanation what he did to that rare board, is pure gold!
Dan seems cool I want to see more of his expertise in action!
Dan is the man lol
Yeah Dan is awesome! More Dan definitely.
We want more dan
Questions becomes 4 titans in sli can it ran ?
He was cool... untill he dabbed in the end :D
Dan: *Does Hardware stuff for Linus*
Anthony: " Finally a worthy opponent. Our battle will be Legendary"
Anthony: At last, someone to help me with all the ridiculous things Linus makes me do.
mew!
Suddenly picturing Anthony and Dan in Klingon attire, wielding soldering irons...
@@edenrose2374 This.
Why does Dan looks like he is right even when he says that he screws up?
As someone who occasionally does little electronic projects like this, "I'm not a moron" is such a fucking mood. Nice job on the Vita!
My version of that is "it hasn't exploded yet."
That's because the line between "I'm not a moron" and "Oh god I'm a moron" is razor thin, and thus successfully crossing that threshold feels like winning the lottery.
I AM NOT A MORON
Dan is unintentionally hilarious sometimes. He made Linus about to shit his pants so many times and he had that stone face and was so calm the whole time.
I really enjoyed Dan's quiet, focused demeanor. Love having a straight player against Linus's energy and David's... David-ness.
Was thinking to myself that this video had the perfect mix of skill levels and personalities. Great video
teams are formed from different people who have different properties.
I love that you guys keep in all the mistakes and obsticles along the way, it makes things much more realistic and relatable, such an adventure. 10/10
Love both David and Dan, 2 completely different energies and they work so well together 😅👌👌
"What's the worst that could happen?"
Linus: Kids lithium battery, lose house and family
Love the optimism
He's not wrong, that probably is the worst that can happen
I almost had a fire at home with a PSP battery long ago.
I just watched a big clive video where he tears down a freaking lithium cell: "what's the worst that could happen.... flames" he says casually
@@Incommensurabilities "Oh, it's gone on fire."
I love how, when something alarming happens, he gets _prissy._ But I'm starting to wonder if perhaps that pie tin wasn't actually explosion-proof, since it's been absent for a while.
Dan is indeed wizard, damn the talent Linus is hiring and enabling
dude is a literal god
How tf did he solve that mann
we need this whole crew on camera again, you four together make for a great combo. It's like Linus and Alex.
Totally down for more videos like this. Great cast of characters and seeing old consoles given new life is a hoot especially seeing Linus react to it. Iv seen plenty of other videos of people replacing screens etc but the goofiness and charisma everyone has here is so fun to watch.
Dan has perfect counterplay to Linus' personality. We gotta see more of him.
Imagine someone overshadowing Linus. That can’t be tolerated…
@@Gogglesofkrome I don’t disagree but I like the fact that David feels authentic. Even if he can be annoying at least it always feels genuine.
@@Gogglesofkrome I think ur being too critical, no offense.
Absolutely. I would love to see more of Dan in future videos
Yup. "Odds of failure 10/10" lol
David's reaction to the first boot is literally how I feel everytime I do something like this and it works. Right down to the "I'm not a moron! Take that dad!"
I laughed so hard LOL the noise he made when it booted
Ok, we need more of the three of you. Yall are a very enjoyable team to watch.
This is one of the best LTT videos I have ever seen. I own a Game Gear myself and it stopped working a few years ago, but before it died, I had to angle the Game Gear so that it was flat so I could see what the hell I was doing, and the speaker wasn't working so well anymore. I could never tackle a mod like this, especially not on my own, so I'll just be glad instead that this project and video both happened successfully. AWESOME stuff.
I've only seen Dan once and I'm already a fan. I'm the dude that adds a bunch of hook up wires and figures out whats missing on old boards too so naturally, respect Dan.
Oh I love Dan. Anyone that makes their first actual relevant comment on a build on camera with a bleeped out word is definitely going to be a damn good presenter.
Dan is incredible!! the level of precision and patience OMG great work.
David’s happiness for getting it to work was both such a joy and also so relatable
I hope LTT is reading these comments, Dan absolutely rules. His delivery of jokes and his dry humor was absolutely amazing, and he clearly knows what he's doing with hardware.
Would love to see him in more videos, this is one of the best LTT vids I've watched in a long time. The combination of Linus, David, and Dan is something I couldn't have predicted, but their energies work really well together in a video.
i agree
Absolutely agree
Linus says he reads all the comments, I'm having a hard time understanding where he finds the time though, with so many videos every week and thousands of comments on each.
No idea about any of the other LTT team but I'd guess since Dan doesn't show up in videos much he's probably interested in reading the comments when he does.
Dan is that dude.
I am also particularly happy that this gives me "OG LTT" vibes where Linus ACTUALLY doesn't just get clued in when everything is already done, and he only gets to demo the completed results. I fully understand that his role in the company has shifted, not the least due to the massive growth and simply not having the time, but it's just something I miss, that's all. Likewise, I don't even demand change, I am aware of the reality as it is, but boy am I glad to see a video like this again.
Also, kick-ass interaction between the three.
Another bonus is that this video is just "IDK if this will do well, let's put it up anyway". IMHO many videos these days have a very "algo-friendly" feeling and when I used to watch almost anything LTT put out these days most of the time I feel like I'll be offered the same topic at the same time by at least 5 different tech channels and whoever gets the cut into my recommendations is the one who tickled the algo the best or who I just happened to watch more of recently.
Do you ever feel like... hey... whatever happened to xyz??? Then you go and check out their channel and see that they've been in full swing all this time ever since you last watched them and maybe even grew? That's a surreal experience. You can also replicate that by not going into home, but your subscriptions feed. Holy hell, to see YT without the recommendations facing you first but actually just a chronological stream of what you once said "I want to remember this channel" to is as wide apart an experience as can be.
This was my favorite LLT video in a while. Perfectly capturing the energy of people who don't know if they will come out the other side with something that works. Also David is such a personality, I love it. Dan is a stone cold killer. I am very comfortable with the energy they have created in the studio today 10/10
The cheeky smiles at the camera remind me of the guy that played Gilderoy Lockhart in the Harry Potter movie
@@LimySilver2 Kenneth Brannagh
Great video, I am currently upgrading a PSx to work with SD cards instead of games. Glad to see you guys run into the same problems I am.
The part David had spare( 15:52 ) goes under the side panel on the top somewhere near the card reader or what ever reader there is on top.
I am not posting the link but this video but the title
PS Vita Teardown / Disassembly Tutorial
@25:46 shows the part
Edit: Its not my video and I am not affiliated with it in any ways, it just is a convenient way to show where the part is xD
Dude we need these two in videos more.. They are both amazing personalities.
Adam and David are indeed the dynamic duo... the more i watch thebetter it gets.
25:12 Glad to see LTT is still following their classic "Measure 0 times, cut 8 times then realize you made 7 cuts too many and rebuild it all from the ground up on a hope and a prayer".
That's the most fun and results in the most learning especially if it's a personal project you have real legitimate uses for. Now if that's not the goal then yes, it's extremely inefficient and expensive.
They know how to make engaging content lmao it'd be no fun if everything went perfectly all the time
Lmao
"Did you find out where it goes?" "Yeah, right there in the parts tray."
I'm stealing that line next time I'm assembling IKEA with family.
I laughed several times at this. David is hilarious and needs to be infront of the camera more, including Dan and Daniel! Need more DDDL content
Dan feels like that one smart classmate that does everything for the project and Linus and David are his groupmates that are doing the presentation for their group.
I love dan he’s great, he’s just chill and normal while Linus is having a mental break down less than a foot away hahahaha
I did the same thing a week ago - bought a Vita used, replaced the screen and the chassis. The small metal part - assuming you still have it - goes on top, under the plastic bar with the volume and power buttons, covering one of the top screw holes.
Too bad David ate it
@@jNetDowling It'll come out eventually. Call it safe keeping.
Yep, just a reinforcement bar.
When I saw that Vita I looked to my left and said "so you are retro now"
Still using my Vita (and 3DS too btw) a lot, it has ton of games and I just love the formfactor of it (and 3DS) more than the Switch or my Steam Deck (because more portable and lighter)
I love the format of modding retro tech. It would be awesome to see more of it.
This episode is awesome. Looks like everyone had a great time with this project
David's redaction to the first boot up is epic, we all know that feeling. And Dan's dry humour is right up my street. One of the best videos.
"I'm not a moron... take that dad!"
What really impressed me was his intelligence. The guy clearly has a background in electronics engineering and I really hope we get more videos of him in the future doing these types of mods.
I fear that the mix of "Dan, David and Linus" may legitimately be a Top Gear level pairing of three.
Y'all better not sleep on this

Agreed. Maybe better. But no one needs to be the butt, and don't mention the Falklands if you visit Patagonia.
@@djdrocco OMGGGGGGGG IT IS PERFECT

I am so happy that Dan is still around and we see him more in videos these days. Such a character!
Seeing so many people working on a project together ( I’m new) is inspiring and really funny! 😂
Dan gives a vibe of being constantly nervous but confident enough in his work to throw shade. Absolutely infectious personality lol
It's actually kind of reminds me of how Anthony was in the beginning. Love his energy!

David, Linus, Adam and Dan just all work so well together, and are just so funny. They play off each other so well.
Please make more retro console videos like this. I've seen a lot of retro repair and upgrade videos and this is far more entertaining than any of them and the best LTT video I have seen since the earlier Scrapyward Wars.
So Dan's actually a close friend of mine, so glad to see him make an appearance in a video! Super funny dude, crazy smart, and a huge dork in the best way. Of all the janky stuff LMG has done, this has got to be the most "proper" experimental video you've made. Great job to everyone!
This being an older video it's nice to see Dan doing electronics.
Also, I love console upgrade videos like this, always fun to see the advancements we've made.
Also, also it's good to see a non expert try something like this.

Honestly its just really neat to see more and more different staff members on screen with Linus. And so many different types of tech recently. It's so cool.
Can we get Dan into more videos please? Loving his calmness
He seems already comfort in front of the camera
This really gave me a chistmas-show-feeling. The day before christmas a bunch of TV-hoost baking and doing random arts and crafts
I like Dan's anxious yet calm personality it reminds me of myself. Give him more things to do!
Do more of this. Just guys hovering around the back figuring things out together. It's amazing. The feel is totally different from other videos. And the different personalities made it even better!

can absolutely agree on this one, and I really loved this video! I just sat down and watched the whole 31 minutes without pausing, switching to Discord, putting the video in PiP and doing smth else - it was REALLY a different feel.
Dan has the perfect IT guy humor/wit. He's like a walking IT meme. Short, dry, sarcastic. Would love to see more of the Dan. "I'm gonna lose my job."around 21:10 killed me.
I really hope he is in a video where he gets to sincerely say “have you tried shutting it down and turning it back on again?” That would cement him as one of the best at LTT Media Group.
it really does a number on you, I managed a computer repair/custom build shop for around 8 years and that dry sarcastic tone comes from explaining to customers for the 10th time "oh what do you mean it there was dried baby formula inside my laptop????? I don't know how that could have got there." and having to fake a nice pleasent tone while you know they're straight up lying to you. lmao tends to send you in the opposite direction dealing with everything else.

Gotta say, I'm Dan's fan already. He's great
I really like Dan, love his dry sarcastic humor lol
The shutterbug nerdout B- and C-team roster is getting incredibly good. So many great talents and personalities evolving 😃 A bit like with close friends and your household, watching "every day" you don't really notice the evolution that much - until these little moments when it really hits you. It's awesome, and knowing the growth that's going on these days means even more goodness is coming.
And by B and C team I don't mean that in a "quality", personality or direct skill kind of way. It's just that the volume of _on-screen_ staff has grown *a lot (!)* the last couple of years. There's just so many of them now (and more are coming) that my head needs some means of categorizing them. Not sure where "the lines" go (on-screen frequency, "casting role", type and prominence of the videos etc), in my mind they're blurry and fluid at best. But that's not really important; it's just a cognitive overview aid 🙂
I couldn't tell what this was about until you mentioned it on WAN Show, and I'm glad I went back to watch it! This was a rush, and also a ton of neat history. And Dan.
Also "besides this hot thing next to me" was REAL smooth haha
