    In this microphone comparison video I put the Rode PodMic vs the Zoom ZDM-1. It's #Rode vs #Zoom, the #PodMic vs #ZDM-1 in a head to head comparison of sub $100 USD microphones.
    The microphones go toe to toe in 5 categories: plosives, off axis rejection, ambient noise, look and sound. While many of these are subjective, I hope this video will help you make a decision on which one might suit your needs best.
    Which microphone sounds better between the Rode PodMic and the Zoom ZDM-1? Chime in down in the comments.
    The ZDM-1 is under $50 for the 2021 holiday season! That's a great value! Does that mean there's a new Zoom dynamic broadcast microphone in the works??? Only time will tell.

    I was listening to another video you had these two compared through just my phone speakers and the very clear winner in sound was the zoom, but in this test wearing my Sony headphones I thought it was much closer. Still a slight edge to the zoom. I have a Rodecaster Pro 2 and really wanted to talk myself into the PodMic, mainly because it has the presets built in, but I need two mics for a podcast I am recording Tuesday, plus headsets would be nice and Amazon has a great deal going now for the two. Your sound is great and thank you for the in-depth review! Liked and subscribed!

      Thank you so much for the kind words and subscription. I don't think you could lose with either choice, but I am such a huge fan of the ZDM-1 I tend to lean that way more often than not.
      The Rodecaster Pro 2 is also a phenomenal device. More than most podcasters need but stellar none the less.
      Thanks again. Sounds like you've got a great setup going.

    Just of to pick up my second ZOOM ZDM. I’ve used it with my Zoom H5 for well about a year now, and I find the rich sound really good. With the extra pop foam filter I’ve even used it outdoors with nice results. 👍

      I hope Zoom appreciates how much we all gush over their microphone. It is one amazing microphone especially at the "extra" reduced price they are selling it for.
      That mic with the H5 is a really nice setup. I haven't tried it outdoors but that is great to know that I could use it in that circumstance.
      Great job on your CZcams channel by the way!

      @@FreePodcastTools I’ve more or less given up on my CZcams channel. The tech, hardware and time it takes to create takes the juice. But i’ll still going to do some vids now and then. Moving over to podcasting now, using native language to better connect to my guests. First season and 20 episodes now made me sure to step podcasting up. Mixcaster 4 in order…. 🤩 Thanks for videos… appreciated 😃👍

    The Zoom sounds better lights out BUT the Rode Podmic is just a handsome piece of equipment! Great review sir!

      Thank you! I agree with you on the look of the Podmic. What a perfectly crafted piece of gear. The Zoom is on sale again for $50! Hard to beat!

    I have a PreSonus PD-70 and a RØDE PodMic. I like both mics, and I was eyeing the ZDM-1, but I think I'm ready to start saving for a more serious broadcast mic like the SM7B. I have a TASCAM Mixcast 4, so I don't think I'll need a Cloudlifter or anything.

    • @FreePodcastTools
      @FreePodcastTools  Před 2 lety

      Definitely no Cloudlifter needed. Do you prefer the PD-70 to the PodMic? I am thinking about getting one in the next couple of months.
      The SM7B with a Mixcast 4 is a GREAT setup. I think that's either the best or top 2 dynamic microphones there is.

    Best look for the rode mic, best sound for the zoom mic.

    good evening, I would like to ask if the zoom zdm-1 does not have any filling inside, such as an internal pop filter, if I take it apart and insert the internal pop filter from another similar microphone, would it help? to eliminate the floating tones and make a tuning video and subject it to sound testing, thank you very much

    • @FreePodcastTools
      @FreePodcastTools  Před rokem

      The stuff they've added inside is more geared towards other sounds not plosives. Here's what they've done: ZDM-1’s capsule is isolated by an internal shock-absorbing mechanism that protects it from handling noise and ambient vibrations. A built-in humbucking circuit rejects electromagnetic interference caused by power lines, computer monitors, cell phones and other devices.
      So no internal pop filter that I can see. I've never tried to open one up. I'll have to ask @ObscurMics if he's tried that before.
      If there's a way to do it, that would be a really nice improvement. It's a cool idea, but I'm not sure it can be done without damaging the mic.

    I have the Podmic Hank and it’s good enough for me. I know there are much better mics out there, but there’;s a lot worse too.

      Absolutely nothing wrong with the PodMic. The look is fantastic as well. I love breaking mine out for streams. For $100 you can't go wrong with the Rode PodMic.
