The tracker is more a sequencer, sampler + effects and velocity, pitch etc. control.
A lot of the flair and character comes from the samples themselves - it they were made/taken from the real synths/instruments.

Fun fact this was an unused track for UT99. I used it for my map CTF-Butane. I don't remember why I named it that I was like 14.

That's awesome. I had so many community maps back then that I never noticed it wasn't used in official maps! Plus I ripped the .S3M files in UnrealEd and listened to them in WinAmp so much over the years (which still plays them perfectly, and you can see the comments too, like Razorback's lyrics), I had no idea it was unused. Great choice for your map!

Damn, you're right. Oldschool tracker artist here. I started out on the gameboy. Never thought about it that way. It looks really cool if you think about it being a pretty lowlevel signalstream.
