Great info as usual, thanks Nick. I have just taken delivery of a B250e Premium and have learnt so much from your videos on how to set up various MBUX features and the best way to use the vehicle. I am really pleased with the car. The ride is nice (pity about the road/tyre noise on certain surfaces) and its great on battery range. I have had 3 other PHEVs of other brands in the past so by now I have learnt how to get the most out of a charge! Have you covered anywhere how to use the favourite button? Is it possible to add lane keeping assistant into favourites, so I could call it up easily and then temporarily switch it off without having to go through the normal menus? Really appreciate all the effort you pit into this channel!

In answer to your question, I don’t believe you can add it to favourites but did you know there is a shortcut to get to it? If you press the Vehicle Settings button in the middle of your car next to your touchpad, it’ll open up the “Quick Access” menu. You’ll be able to turn it off in there so only two taps away! 🤓

Well the issue is with plug-in hybrids is that you may potentially be looking at the wrong stats and the WLTP measurements you will have seen don’t help. They’re not really built for hybrids, I’ll explain so bear with, I wrote this out to others too.
When it comes to MPG readings, hybrids should also be using mpkWh. It basically depends on the journey you do. So for example, if you drove 2 miles up the road, went into the shops then drove back and the engine didn’t switch on, you will have achieved 999+ miles per gallon, because you haven’t used any gallons of fuel, just electric.
Another example, same trip but if you accelerated hard at the lights just once, then drove normally for the rest of it, then your MPG might be around 300-400 MPG because it averaged out on electric for most of it.
And the final example, same trip again but this time you drove there on electric and then drove back with the engine on “Battery Level” (this mode uses the engine) then your MPG might be around the 100-200 MPG mark.
Miles per gallon is very tricky to work out on hybrids because there is another source of power pushing you around which throws off stats. MPG is used to measure how much fuel we use, where as electric is measured in MPkWh (miles per kWh)
This is why that figure seems high on short journeys but less on longer journeys. Of course the more you run on electric and plug it in, the better your MPG will be but with a plug-in hybrid you don’t have to complete a journey.

Hi Nick, I just got a a new A Class and love it and thanks to your informative videos getting to grips with all the tech, so keep up the good work! I do have a problem though and wondered if you can help? I plugged in my USB stick full of songs to play but the problem is whenever I switch off the ignition and start the car again, whether it's 1 min or 1 day later the music always starts back at the beginning again instead of where it was up too when I left the car! All my other previous cars where I've played music via a stick just carries on from where the last song finished. It's getting really frustating having a USB stick with a 1000 songs on and it just hearing the the 1st few songs over and over again! Any ideas? Thanks!

Hey Rog, ah perfect glad you like the videos!
Unfortunately no this is the way it’s designed. When the car is switched off, it does not retain where your music left off as in Mercedes it’s down to the music player to hold that info. As it’s a USB stick, it’ll just play from the start.
The only couple of things you can do are to transfer music to your phone or a dedicated MP3 player that can retain where you left off. Or potentially, just a thought you could pop the track list onto shuffle? It’ll of course play everything in shuffle but at least then you won’t hear the same songs at the start.
Hope one of those two works for you 🤓

@@npoleary Thanks Nick, OMG I'm gutted, seriously! My Basic Golf 1.5 and before that my 1.0 little Polo just carried on playing from where it left off and this car at double the price with all the latest so called tech on it can't do this? I was beginning to think I was going crazy as I kept thinking as I'm driving..'I'm sure I've heard these before!' Oh BTW it's exactly the same stick that was in my previous cars too :( Well anyway Manybe I'll have to look at some of your solutions and big thanks for clearing that up..at least It'll stop me going crazy!

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  Před 2 lety

Ah “Ready” is to do with the electric elements on your car. It’ll either be a
      Mild Hybrid
      Plug-in Hybrid
      All-Electric
It just let’s you know the car’s engine / electric motor is on and live, so it’s ready to drive.

I would presume that it’s just linked to the chassis number or something. But I’d probably recommend just chatting with them if it’s an official Mercedes dealership and they’ll be able to let you know!

Hey Geoff, thank you! Yes you’re absolutely right the GLC is based on the C-Class and is the same in that model too. The customisation of the left dial is unique to cars that have the full widescreen across. Don’t worry it’s not a fault as all GLC’s with MBUX are like this.
On your GLC you’ll be able to customise the middle section and the right hand dial 🤓

Sadly no I’ve not seen that on there
Although I’ve heard that a Mercedes dealership can de-activate the key within the car so it can’t be used. Although a replacement still would be needed at least it’ll stop a theft!
