PLEASE PLEASE dont walk your dog in the middle of the afternoon when it's super hot. If you touch the ground with your hand and you can't hold it there for 5 seconds, it is too hot for the dog. Thanks!

Yeah! Also Weylie and Wah always poor booties on the dogs when they walk them when it’s super hot or when they’re in the city.
If you must walk them buy dog booties and they’re are also dog paw pads that of course go on the paw as protectant. So it’s completely possible just have to spend some extra money but both are Less than $20.
We take our Labrador mix to our dog park and let them run around on the cool dirt & grass. :) a dog park is always a great place to bring your dog.

ALWAYS. MICROCHIP. YOUR DOG! Collars are so easily lost, or broken, and tags also won't stop a thief!
THIS is really important. If a vet hospital or shelter finds your pet they can easily scan your pet and pull up your information through the chip’s company to contact you. Note: MICROCHIPS ARE NOT TRACKERS!
You can let your pet’s microchip company send out a missing animal alert through out your area and check shelters as well, but if somebody steals your pet there would be no way of really finding out where they are. The tracker Weylie mentioned is a great device to track where your pet is.
Always have your scan your pet during their annual check up, it is possible for your pet’s microchip to travel under the skin. In some cases they can travel far enough where it won’t scan so you can always implant another one.

There are so many great rescues out there like Best Friends animal Society who are super helpful and reputable, and have plenty of dogs/cats to rescue too. Thanks for sharing girl!

I got my pup when she was 8 weeks old and I could never bear to give her away. This video reminded me of how important socialization is for her, my husband and I work long hours, I'm usually gone for 10 hours out of the day, so her exercise and socialization is minimal and I know this creates most of the behavior problems we do have (neediness, destructive chewing, jumping.) She's a great dog overall but I needed the reminder that I'm not actually giving her the best life possible by using my tiredness as an excuse to keep her daily walks short. Thanks for the great video and much love to your doggy!

We just took our dog out to the dog park today :) but kept his leash on. He’s a rescue pup but he’s getting better at socializing. Thanks for encouraging me to bring him out more. We are a little nervous about him getting hurt by bigger dogs.

Thanks so much for making this video Weylie! We adopted our family friend's German Shepherd/husky mix named Betsy when he sadly passed away and before that, we'd only ever had cats. Our family friend adopted Betsy from an abusive background and she has come a long way. We love her so much as part of our family but know we have a lot to learn about dogs--she's about 75 lbs and full of happy energy!

Definitely agree with socializing. I don’t understand why people get dogs and just lock them up in the backyard. I felt so bad for my neighbors dogs, they were kept in the yard 24/7 and weren’t socialized, so they bark at everything that pass by the property.
We have a large German shepherd and I will say that we have the same harness and it is absolutely amazing! It is super easy to put on and you only have to slip it on over the head and it only has one buckle! Highly recommend!

I adopted Hunny, my Akita/Sheltie mix, in December 2005 when she was 1.5 years old. Now she's 14 years old! We've had to modify her routine in the past year or two since she now has some trouble with her hind legs. We give her a joint formula daily to help with that. She was initially using Dasuquin, then Cosequin, but now uses Extend.
Hunny has always had a harness, because she's big and used to pull a lot when walking. Now, if anything, I need to pull her, since she can get tired during walks, so I got a front-loading harness to make it easier. She uses the PetSafe Gentle Leader Easy Walk harness. It's generally used for dogs that pull a lot, but it's also great for dogs who need a little help on their walks.

LOVE how much you love your dogs and also your bun buns! Also love that you're talking about adoptions! Every dog in the shelters or rescues have been through a rough life. They have the biggest heart that appreciates a loving family (not saying others don't). They deserve to live a better life than their previous situation. I have 2 doggies, both adopted and I love them more than anything!

I had 2 rescue dogs and they were the worst so aggressive we put them down and got pure breeds never going back
@@katespringworth9823 you can’t stereotype all rescue dogs it was aggressive because either your weren’t taking care of it right or it was previously abused and needed to be corrected/trained or get a trainer
Rescue dogs can be great, they also need a lot of work, sometimes a rescue dog just isn't right! But that's okay! Rescue dogs need dedicated and loving people and some need very calm homes, and not everyone can provide that
