- Join me for the full ride up the Col du Galibier. Col du Galibier is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.645m (8,678 ft) above the sea level, located in the southern region of the French Dauphiné Alps, on the border of Savoie/Hautes-Alpes departments. It’s one of the most impressive climbs in all of the French Alps. High peaks, glaciers and over two kilometres of vertical climbing from the northern side. It's one of the highest mountain roads of the Alps.

Sehr cool. Diese Videos gerade gefallen mir besonders. Bin die Strecke im September gefahren bis runter ans Mittelmeer. Da erkennt man vieles wieder. Frischt die Erinnerungen auf ! Vielen Dank dafür!

@@Drive_Nation Puh, das ist jetzt auch schon wieder 4 Jahre her aber ich glaube schon. Vor allem nicht ganz so volle Parkplätze wie im Video. Radfahrer waren auch unterwegs aber denke auch nicht in der Menge.

Its a great road that one. We did it in 2017 when i had my 1190 Adventure. I happen to pass it solo without my buddies one day and the feds were waiting for me at the bottom just after you turn right for Le Grave. They pulled me in, big guns on show and told me quite clearly "you ride too fast, slow down". Lucky escape I'd say. Thanks to the french police for being so lenient.
Good thing there are still chill people in this world. Riding in France is an absolute pleasure not only because you do not have to worry about going a bit faster (in areas where literally there is no one around) but also most car drivers will make room for you or pull over to let you pass. Oliver, i am finally getting over to the French Alps on 4th September...)) the Gallibier, Col de la Bonnette, d'liozard, comb laval...etc etc etc... will post some photos for you.. im already excited and dreaming. )) bike is ready and i am ready accommodation is in Die, Digne, and Vosges.. i am so happy i got massive inspiration from your tours. Thank you Antonio! Yes, the reference was to the Stelvio crash 😬 The GoPro flexible arm is actually not connected to the GoPro Jaw (which I also use but not the handle bar). I have a fixed mount on my mirror www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07MJV4BD8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I would like to tour the Black Forest and do some Alpine passes next summer. Any advice as you have ridden some cracking roads and passes.

The entire Route des Grandes Alpes is 720 km of amazing alpine passes in France. If you are in Italy you need to ride the Dolomites including the Sella Ronda - the highest density of alpine passes you can find.

Another great video. Definately tempted to get rid of my GSA and get a KTM SAS. Just out of interest how do you record the engine sound on your videos? It always sounds great!
Thank you Scott - maybe you should take the SAS out for a test spin and then take it from there ;-) I have an external mic wired to the helmet cam - the mic is located in a back pocket of my jacket. It helps a lot with the wind but it is far from the best possible quality - for that you would need an external recorder to record sound separatly and which allows to adjust the input levels which are always a litte "too hot" with my Sony Actioncam

Another great video and the exhaust sound is great - my SA-S with Akra doesn't sound like that! . I assume that you know the guy on the SuperDukeGT who was behind you all the way? Which bike do you think would be more fun on this climb - the SA-S or SDGT?

Merkst du den Unterschied eigentlich sehr zwischen dem 19Zoll und 21 Zoll Vorderrat im Handling? Würd mich sehr interessieren!
Auf der Straße? Nicht so stark wie man meinen mag aber der Unterschied ist schon da. Hält aber nicht vom vernünftigen Kurvenfahrten ab. Die Reifengröße oder vielmehr die dünneren Reifen der 21/18 Räder merkt man - mehr Grip haben die breiteren Reifen der 19/17 Räder - ist vielleicht auch ein bisschen Kopfsache aber richtig harte Kurven fühlen sich besser mit dem kleinen Radsatz an. Den hab ich übrigens gerade drauf für meine Irland/ Schottland Tour 😉

Ich schaue mir auch Kanäle aus anderen Ländern an und freue mich, wenn ich etwas verstehe - daher hatte ich mit Untertiteln in Englisch angefangen aber das ist noch einmal ordentlich viel Arbeit bei der Bearbeitung - also nehme ich das lieber gleich in Englisch auf ;-) 80% der Besucher dieses Kanals kommen derzeit nicht aus Deutschland.

Der Galibier von Nord nach Süd .... sehr schön. Vorher noch den Iseran gefahren ? Fahre das gleiche Mopped wie Du ... es gibt nichts Besseres für die Alpen. Eines noch , sehr eleganter Fahrstil .... die 160 PS genau da eingesetzt , wo sie auch gebraucht werden.
So schaut es aus. Den Iseran wollte ich unbedingt mitnehmen dieses Mal. Die letzten Male war ich zu früh unterwegs, da war der Iseran noch geschlossen.
Die Super Adventure ist wie für die Alpen gemacht. Gute Bremsen und Fahrwerk und ordentlich Power zum rausbeschleunigen 😎 und überholen 😂
Eigentlich ein tolles Video, du hast eine 2. Kamera, blende doch ab und an mal in eine andere Perspektive. Wenn du dann auch noch mit ein paar Erklärungen nachvertonst, schießen die Likes sicher noch viel schneller in die Höhe. Aber wie gesagt, auch so ein sehr nettes Video, Daumen hoch.
Vielen Dank Karl. In dem Fall lief Tatsache nur die Helmkamera. Ich muss mal schauen was ich noch an Material mitgebracht hab von der Tour - manchmal liefen ja beider Cams ;-)
From the other side the climb is much more beautiful, but it's also steeper and if I remember well, the last kilometer is really steep with some hairpins
This one is worth experiencing from both sides 😉👍
@@MotoVibes I believe that. I climbed this col about 15 years ago by bicycle from the other side, it's one of the most awesome cols I did by bike.
Moin es geht nicht um das Video, sondern um neine KTM. Es gibt Gerüchte, dass KTM mehr Probleme mit Technik-Aussetzern hat als BMW (GS) kannst du das bestätigen oder sind das wie gesagt nur Gerüchte...
Ich bin die 1200 GS zwei Jahre und 35 TKM gefahren und habe die KTM jetzt auch 2 Jahre und bin 36 TKM. Bei der BMW sind Kupplungsnehmerzylinder, Auspuffklappe, linke Schalterarmatur und vordere Federbeine defekt gewesen und wurden auf Garantie gewechselt. Bei der KTM bisher nicht ein Problem. Das sind nur meine Erfahrungen und das ist ich bestimmt nicht representativ aber für mich ist die KTM hier klar im Vorteil
Why don't you ever wave back to other riders? In France, we do that all the time.
Oh - I usually always do - only when it compromises my riding safety or if I am distracted with my camera gear or GPS then I do not wave back. I noticed how friendly French riders are - a huge difference to other European countries. Also, car drivers are usually much more relaxed and will often times make room for motorcyclist. This is one of the reasons why it is so enjoyable to ride in France.
