Beau DeMayo's firing reminds me of Disney firing James Gunn in 2018. As both sides are keeping quiet about the facts, and each episode of Xmen97 displays DeMayo's incredible writing and respect for the series, perhaps history will repeat itself again by having Disney reinstate the content creator who knows what they're doing. Back in 2018, Disney was also looking for replacement directors, but in the end, it was James Gunn who finished Guardians of the Galaxy 3.
Finding grounds to fire him early could be a way to keep whatever they would have to pay him in the future, if he were knocking it out of the park while employed by them non-stop, low… if they decide to “give him one more chance” he might be less inclined to demand more maybe. Those type of corporate games exist probably, right?
With the success of this show thus far, If I was in bob Iger's or Kevin Feige's shoes, Whatever discrepancies they had should be water under the bridge at this point! Demayo is smart not to say anything to burn bridges. He may have the potential of coming back because the big wigs are watching the reaction of the fans and its overwhelmingly positive. when you respect the material, you get an awesome show. It would be FOOLISH of Disney not to have him back!
X-Men '97 is fantastic and pulls no punches on it's social commentary on modern society, which I love and IMO is core to the X-Men. I'm curious to see what happens with season 3, if it will tell the same kind of story with the same themes.
Personally im roooting for him. Hes the one Marvel creative who was hired in recent memory who hasn't fumbled the spirit of the source material. IfJames Gunn can get a second chance, so should Beau DeMayo.

I was just a kid when Xmen dropped. I remember watching it at my bestie's place on Sat morns with her mother who also loved the OG show. Like I lived at my bestie's place. I would go over Friday night we would watch Bollywood movies eat some damn good homemade Indian Chicken curry. Then sat morn her mum would hurry in to my room and go "Beta Xmen is starting soon." We'd sit down and just watch. When my mate would come out and see us, her mum did things like braiding my hair as we watched. My mate would be like "Left overs? Coffee? Hot Chocolate?" XDD The way Beau wrote this season it brought back all those memories I associated growing up with. Would I cry a lot, yes. Both have passed back in 07, but I know my 2nd mother is watching with me as I watch it.
It's a good show I mean it takes me back to my childhood for sure. If he was fired for shaking his male parts on camera for people to pay for that's a real shame, because it wasn't too long-ago female celebrities were praised for posing in playboy and it would feel like a double standard. If he was hard to work with, I have to say with this younger generation entering the work force anytime you tell them no, you get labeled as difficult to work with.
This is a good point. I think we passed the point of caring what people do in their private. I do not care what a man does in his private time as long as it does not cause harm. With that said, let the man have his life. He's writing a good show. We all adults now. Marvel Disney, should have an adult content wrote for adults by adults. If ya read Marvel, a lot of those topics hit on touchy subjects and there is a lot of violence despite it seeming to be aimed towards youth. But really we don't know what happened, it's all speculation, and sad to say, it may stay that way. But they fire people when they are doing good, like Johnathan Hickman. They seem to keep Xmen in constant limbo, they grow and do well, and then pull the rug from them. They don't seem to want to show oppressed people....not being oppressed. Oppression is entertaining to them.
I agree that it was definitely about that OF acct, however you have to remember that most if not all writers, actors, directors etc have the same contract- especially when it involves the MCU(which you can thank RDJ for that) is that you are right- private is private as long as it doesn't crossover in to your work, it shouldn't be fire-able, but they ask you in the contract, to tell them what social media sites you are involved in(which I think was added after the Gunn incident) because like credit check, they do it as a background check.. So either he never told them that he had this acct prior to hiring or he started it after he got hired but still didn't tell them and someone he worked with said something thus the possible "toxic workplace" excuse as a cover....
At this point I think Disney wants their products to suck. I think all fans of X-Men ‘97 are now fans of DeMayo. I agree that if Marvel does not find a way to negotiate getting DeMayo back on the job, that would likely impact the quality and momentum of X-Men 97, a series that is creating incredible buzz and generating renewed levels of interest from fans and gaining new ones. That is their signature property. If the only fans account is the issue, if it’s not too terribly scandalous or crosses a l legal line, I think the great majority of X-Men fans will give Marvel a pass for hiring him back. If he’s terrible to work with, I totally agree, have him work from home and make him take mandated sensitivity trainings and hold him to a higher standard of conduct with his colleagues. And they might want or need to also pay him a little more money as well because he has done a fantastic job With X-Men 97. DeMayo has captured lightning in a bottle with his writing and storytelling. He has a command of the lore, and internal understanding on what the X-men stand for and symbolize. He has a VISION for where to take this series. All that is not so easily replaced by another good writer. I hope Marvel finds a way to work this out with DaMayo to everyone’s benefit.

I’ve got a third theory for you. Beau wasn’t cool with the DEI nonsense and wanted to stay as close to the source material as possible. He already finished 2 seasons and the 3rd is written. If Beau wasn’t willing to give Disney concessions over turning the series into the DEI circus they’ve turned all the other Marvel properties into that could be your answer.

Artist vs accountant Disney mostly hires accountant to do shows. Why star wars has floundered. Anytime an artist gets near a property they lose their business model. I would have merchandise from this show. It's fans are making t-shirts and posters of this show. I'd spend twenty bucks on a framed bastion final dream print. And I got no money. yeah,. it wasnt the only fans thing. he has had the for years even when he was writing on other projects. it wasnt even an explicit account... it was just pictures of him smiling with his shirt off. if you dont like men with their shirts off smiling dont go to his onlyfans or the beach lol. One insider, and i dont understand why no one else has picked up on this and everyone is just focusing in on the onlyfans thing, is that in other seasons, he was wanting to push the Gay commentary even further and this is what caused the difficulty to work with scenario. In that insider report, i cant remember where I saw or read it, but it said they were going in a timetravel alternate reality where there was a female wolverine who would be a lesbian and even more representation, but marvel said no and that is what caused the friction. They were ok with the inclusion of the topic matter to a certain point, he just wanted to push it beyond that and he got mad they werent wanting to let him take it there.

I wonder if they didn't like him not pushing an agenda from his personal life on the show? The show is relatively true to the comics without the order and even though it has some questionable moments it's nothing too egregious.

I saw some censored pictures that were supposed to be from his only fans and it was definitely not a good look. That being said, they should have just made him delete it. As far as being difficult, Harvey Weinstein is out here Graping women, and African American men getting crucified for being "difficult, arrogate, hard to work with. Lets see how season two is. The company may not want to be associated with Onlyfans in anyway and Demayu is a bad look in that regard. Doesn't matter that most adults have sex, this show was a specific form of adult entertainment. Its softcore violence with a hint of romance, not full on porn.

Artist vs accountant
Disney mostly hires accountant to do shows. Why star wars has floundered. Anytime an artist gets near a property they lose their business model. I would have merchandise from this show. It's fans are making t-shirts and posters of this show. I'd spend twenty bucks on a framed bastion final dream print. And I got no money. The show makes the point. Bastion gets his artists and let's them work. The product is devestating. Whenever the accountant gets involved your plan is over.
They finished season 2 and green lit season 3 which says something about his writing.

It shouldn’t be lost on anyone that a gay man was able to build upon this series about marginalized mutants and do it beautifully because he could write from their point of view. Not every writer is going to be able to do that.

yeah,. it wasnt the only fans thing. he has had the for years even when he was writing on other projects. it wasnt even an explicit account... it was just pictures of him smiling with his shirt off. if you dont like men with their shirts off smiling dont go to his onlyfans or the beach lol. It wasnt sexual harassment or anything like that in the workplace, that would have been disclosed immideiately as the reason being why they separated ways. if it was something horrendous like that he wouldnt have started talking online again. common sense here people. So the only reason for the mutual work separation is him becoming difficult to work with. which is odd since he has worked on several other marvel studios projects and wasnt hard to work with. This X-Men 97 series has great story telling and action and is pretty faithful to the comics, but the overly gay references in the show are very blantant and prominant when you watch it. One insider, and i dont understand why no one else has picked up on this and everyone is just focusing in on the onlyfans thing, is that in other seasons, he was wanting to push the Gay commentary even further and this is what caused the difficulty to work with scenario. In that insider report, i cant remember where I saw or read it, but it said they were going in a timetravel alternate reality where there was a female wolverine who would be a lesbian and even more representation, but marvel said no and that is what caused the friction. They were ok with the inclusion of the topic matter to a certain point, he just wanted to push it beyond that and he got mad they werent wanting to let him take it there.
