The 454 is an insane engine the sound of shear power from this big block is awesome
All 3 horsepower it had in the first place.
The vortec 454 had 290 horsepower
The 90’s 454’s didnt really make power, torque though, my god
@@CirocObama.94 They're rather detuned from the factory. Headers, free flowing exhaust, and a good tune wake them up substantially.
@@loganamurray64 Yep more of a Torque Monster
Can hear the mpg’s coming out that exhaust lol
4 gallons burned in that takeoff. lol
You mean GPM’s
@@dancavazos6241 no mpg’s
@@extroxfps there was a joke and you missed it
Ypm bro, yards per minute
Best sounding 90s silverado i have ever heard in a very long time espacially with that deep rumbly sound when it's on park to be honest 👍
Can't beat a good ol school big block sound. Raw power. No supercharger. No turbo. Just raw engine block
@@jerrycannon6940 idk about power lol. that thing was slow
@@musclecarsdaily3020 power and speed are 2 different things
@@joelramos3504 he saw raw power lol. but i highly doubt it will go over 100mph also
@@musclecarsdaily3020 he obviously meant pulling power lol no one expects this at a drag strip
I got 4 inch on my 89 350 TBI and I love it. Used a Duramax axle over bend to get it out the side. Finishing up the headers and y pipe today. I like it.
That’s what my truck sounds like haha. I bought a ‘94 4x4 CrewCab Dually with a 454 last year and when I looked at the exhaust system I noticed that it had an aftermarket exhaust on it very similar to this setup but it has a Flowmaster muffler in there as well. Seems to have been done maybe 10 years ago or so. I love my truck!
Sounds similar to the one my family had but ours was a ext cab I miss that truck
I took my Alcoa rims off and put black rims on. I almost fell sick because it made it look broken down. Those rims were the hottest thing ever.
I had a 98 454 5-speed k3500 with true dual, no cats and 16x5 tips. It was ungodly loud and I loved every second of it.
I used to always experiment with Y piped exhausts on my 454. Finally decided to true dual with 2.5 through high flow cats under the cab, staggered like factory, and 2.5 straight all the way out and turned 90 degrees out behind the back tires with factory copy cat GM Oval tips. Best sounding truck I’ve ever had. All my Y pipes only had that grumble when you’d gas it in park, not much with acceleration. Now with the true duals, I have it all the time!
Finally got my wish of seeing a 454 gmt 400 dually. Sounds godly. Also a bonus that it's the same age as I am.
One of the nicest trucks I’ve seen in your shop! Beautiful sound as always, great work
That 454 big block sounds amazing
A cam and carb swap would wake that big block up. 1600 rpm peak torque is fine, but 3600rpm peak hp leaves a lot of room for improvement. I figured the cat would be right behind the y like the small blocks.
Best sounding 230hp out there. Lol.
My most recent exhaust build was a 350 tbi in a 92 c1500 with single 3" into single 4". I run a headers and a y pipe then a 3"x24" glasspack then a 4"x31" glasspack and run a 4" tailpipe in the stock location. Almost 5' of muffler, but it's all straight through so there's no restriction.
What's the results for your 350 project? I got a '95 with the same engine
@@rdr9519 the exhaust has a deep tone but it's pretty quiet. It runs good for a mostly stock motor. I'm planning on swapping in an Edelbrock 3704 tbi intake manifold that I've got lying around. At the same time, I'm planning a mild roller cam swap. I'm looking at an xtreme energy 252 hr from comp. It should be OK with stock heads.
I've already got headers and exhaust figured out like I mentioned above.
For tuning, I bought an ecm from dynamicEFI. I can tune it from my laptop. I just got a wideband controller but I haven't installed it yet. The new ecm can control an electric fan and shut off egr. It's kind of like hptuners lite. The biggest bonus is that I don't have to worry about burning custom chips. I plan to bump up fuel pressure to 18psi and run stock injectors. That should be good for about 300hp.
I'll also run some 1.5 roller rockers and probably change the valvesprings to handle the extra weight of the hydraulic roller lifters.
The exhaust is the only thing that I've got actually finished so far.
@@EricErnst must be nice to push 300 hp, love these trucks but they are underpowered
@@rdr9519 I'm still mostly stock on that truck. I've only had it since late September.
I've got another that I put heads and a cam in. I used holley sniper for fueling. Then I added a supercharger. She's pushing 650hp at the crank. That's a hell of a jump in power compared to the stock tbi stuff! It's a k2500 instead of a lighter c1500. I've done a lot to it. Rear disc brake conversion. Lighting mods. Built 4L80E and custom built converter. Electric fans. I put a locker in the front and rear differentials. Polyurethane control arm bushings. Polyurethane cab mounts. She's a beast.
@@EricErnst happy to hear about a 4WD chevy obs project, mines a k1500
The last of the altered beast. The 454 vortec. Damn I use to want one back then.
Don't forget the 8.1 496 vortec. Same motor just bigger
@@tygoodwin7179 I actually almost bought the 8.1 in a gmc 2500. But it was making a ticking noise like it was going to throw a rod. I went with a dodge dakota 4.7 4x4.
@@tygoodwin7179 The 8.1 wasn't the same as the 454. While they're both big blocks, that's about where the similarities end. If memory serves correctly, there are no interchangeable parts between the two engines. This makes the 8.1s pricey to do upgrades such as heads on, which probably has something to do with them not being very popular engine swaps.
I had a 99 GMC Sierra crew cab with a 7.4 and a carven exhaust best thing ever I would get thumbs up everywhere I went
Those 90's GM trucks sounds the best i ever hear and have! I miss my 94 C2500 straight dual no cats❤
Hey man you’re my favorite CZcamsr I love your videos and how they are made they are perfect.. but it would be cool if you can show us before and after So we can hear the difference of the exhaust
I have a very similar truck. Went with 3" pipes off each manifold into a single 4", 4" Flowmaster 60, and 4" single all the way out. Very very deep, feel it in your chest at idle. Not a fan of the rasp or burble and crackle in a truck, want something that sounds more like a train engine, and mine does it. If I towed all day and had to listen to it all the time, I'd probably want something less obnoxious, but as it is I really enjoy it.
Just my observation, I think if the pipe-ends remain under the bed and pointing down the road, then that is when you are getting that deep rumble sound of the 00's-70's area work trucks.
I am in search of that sound myself and that is how I observed it. Though I haven't implemented on my truck yet. I have a stainless muffler, that I just can't see myself discarding.
Sounds awesome! I wonder how much business increase has happened after you guys started posting videos? I could only imagine it was a lot!
My man had a 4 door one of these back in the day. Put a flip kit on the back, and a couple parts up front. Had like a 6/8 drop on it. Long and low AF.
Sounds great Beast Mode love the Sound of a big block 👍😎🤜🤛🇺🇸
That’s Merika right there. 🇺🇸🇺🇸😂😂 sounds awesome
*Merikkka
She scoots! Love it. Especially those deep dish rims on the back
Rev’s engine
Gas tank: 20$ right there!
Nice gonna sound even better with sum headers
That’s a real nice dally …it could use some headers to open it up
Coming soon
Yes
I am skeptical about intalling the cat. that far downstream on the exhaust. At best it's doing nothing except going for a ride. At worst it could fail prematurely becoming restrictive from unburnt contaminates. The cat. needs an internal temp. around 750'F to operate. Being that far downstream it may not reach operating temp. If it does it will cool while sitting at a traffic light idling. A working cat. will have a minimum 100'F difference between the inlet and outlet temp at idle measured with a infared thermometer. Love your vids. Keep up the good work.
Was wondering why it's so far back too I can't see it working well back there🤷
That’s actually very fast for a big old school truck
lol not really...TBI were gutless dogs...it only looks quick from a dig because it has at least 4.10s in it
Facts. My pops had one exactly like this to pull his fifth-wheel and it had alot of pulling power but it wasn't fast at all for having a huge 454. The gearing was really short, 65 on the highway was around 3400 rpm.
@@Whats-It-To-Ya Dame! That's high. Mine does 2,200 rpms at 65
7.10 gears. It's quick for a full size truck.
@@danktank1959 your truck doesn’t have 7.10 gears
@@Willyd2758 I mean say 4.10
Just bought my dads old 454 off him I really want mine to look like this one
Mine used to sound like that...badass for short stuff... by it got ridiculous and overly loud when pulling my 40' 18k triaxle toy hauler. Had to quiet it down with 2 3/4" exhaust and a couple of stainless steel magnflows, NO cat.
Pulls a 34ft regularly
I have the same truck, just quad cab and a '98. I don't care for the rasp at all on a truck, really prefer just a deep mellow tone. I want a train engine, not a dirt bike.
I'm going with 3" pipes off each side, to a 4" Y pipe, a single 4" 60 series Flowmaster, and single 4" out behind the rear wheels on the passenger side. Looking forward to getting it done and hoping that gives me the tone I want.
Sounds pretty good, But maybe a small resonator or muffler to clean up the crackles.
Noooo let it cackle!
@@alexralston22 To each their own. 😄
Let it snap crackle pop!!
@@ej1025 no need to straight pipe it if you gonna clean it up. Keep it loud and nasty. Let that big block sing man
@@jerrycannon6940 @Jerry Cannon I get where you're coming from. But even just a small resonator to enhance or deepen the tone. I think that way, the big block sounds beefier.
Now he can lean on that high mile engine to hear his pipes. Build another one for standby replacement
Looks clean
Sounds way better and those wheels are clean 🔥🔥
legend has it that this truck never returned because it chugged down all that gas before he could get back. rip
that sound even makes the tesla boys happy
That’s quite I got 454 long tube headers with 3in pipe out behind rear tires
I didn’t know they offered a 454 big block in 1995
1995 was the last year for the classic L19 454 Big Block, They replaced it with the Vortec 7400 in 1996 which was still a 454 but had a little more power. You could get that one until 2001.
@@CarDietrich what was the the 454 in in 2001? I know the 8.1 was out in 2001 in duallies and 1999 was the last year for the thst particular body style.
@@livewithnick c3500hd. Cab and chassis trucks.
What is everything massive making up for?
Add a big cam and some descent mufflers then it will sound good.
Should have run 3” true duals with no cats and flowmaster flowFX mufflers… would sound a lot better
96+ vortec 454’s came factory with 3” duals. Good upgrade for the 88-95 tbi 454’s
What bumper is that front one? I like it. The engine is the right size for the rest of the truck too.
Like a a lot dually Especially Chevy , not bad . Love dem 90’s style Chevy Silverado
man i gotta get my 97 up and running again. definitely need a whole exhaust setup.
"What is he trying to compensate for"
Should we tell that to the ones who buy 1000Hp Ferraris and very expensive Rolls Royces that their "compensating for something"?
Nice truck.! My 2000 crew cab dually got totalled yesterday. Rear ended, well parked. Going fix after insurance claim. She's was already clean 🥲
That's a real bummer man. Good that ya weren't in it to get hurt. Best of luck on the rebuild.
What could've rear ended that thing to total it? Sorry to hear that
@@rdr9519 07 Chrysler 300 at 45 mph. Was easier for insurance to totaled it out. It's back on road now (flatbed needed). Completely new rear suspension, drive shaf. Axle, gears, transmission we're still fine. One tuff ass truck ! 💪🇺🇸
@@danktank1959 glad to hear that🇺🇲💪🏽
454 trucks are always a blast except when you have to pull up too the gas pump twice a day
Twice a day is when you dont drive it
I have a 94 cclb 4x4 dually. I had to make my own headers used a old set of Doug Thornleys to go off of. I went 3 inch out of the collectors to a flowmaster dual 3" to a 4" y pipe and a mbrp 4" system the rest of the way back. Sounded great then the wife blew it up 😆 🤣 😂
Great sound on that ole girl. Why not duel it out straight though? The wheels & tires look great as well.
Love this announcement! Yessssir I love the 454! Nice work!
I like the 50 series flowmaster on mine that's single in duel out
Those are hard to find in great condition
& mine just got totalled, well parked. Devastating.! Going fix, rear end now. #Insurance
Only thing that sucks in them is the vent blower isn't very powerful but great reliable trucks
Oh and those cloth seats are super comfy lol
Makes me happy to come across one of these.
My dad had a red 1998 Chevy 3500 crew cab dually big block 454 miss that truck
I loved your voice on the sound meter so we have a comparison
Yessir! That thang sounds frickin' wicked man and I'm diggin' the sleek-n-sinister black too. An extremely cool machine with the potential to do whatever ya wanna do with it. I hate to be "that guy", but I've gotta mention one thing...please take the ball mount outta your receiver when it's not in use (1) it doesn't look as cool as if he had a nice chrome Bowtie receiver cover and (2) I have seen a few people get seriously hurt by whackin' their shins on those things. I don't mean to bring ya down, just mentionin' something for ya to consider. VERY cool truck, it seems to be in outstanding condition, especially for a 1995. Enjoy it in good health!
Wouldn’t want anyone revving my car like that
Owner of the vehicle is the revving the truck
Love the wheels on it, clean dually 👍
this trucks needs the factory wheel simulators back on it or 16 inch alcoa's
For better results, dual straight pipes
MASIVE IT SOUNDS GREAT
I just bought my second obs chevy its a 95 with a 6.5 turbo diesel in it
Hey I love the vids, what do you think about investing in a nicer mic? I think it would be really really cool to have a more deeper sound in all the vids
We have tried and everything so far has not been able to
Handle the exhaust note with out muffling or being able to
Handle high frequency like iPhone has
I have 99 / 2500 Suburban with a 454. Any suggestions for a dual exhaust kit I can install?
My first truck was a 1990 3500 454 Chevy I sold it a while back I regret it every day
I got the 94 love the truck man
Do 4.6 2V modular vs 4.8 LS (Vortec)
My 1994 c3500 is slammed and I have extended cab extended bed
Beautiful!!!! I'v got the 6.5 sounds sick aswell
Very nice!
Can you state when you use stainless or aluminized exhaust? Trying to learn the difference in looks. Awesome videos and high quality work!
The only time we use stainless is on tips or when a kit comes in that we bolt on. Other than that it’s all Aluminize pipe due to having to be a certain thickness for us to bend it
@@exhaustaddicts Thanks for the reply!
Totally insane in a good way.
That legit sounds just like a the 305 I though would be funny to put 4 inch pipes on 😂
That sounds awesome!
Love how it sounds, but TOO EASY
Dayuuuuumn in love with it!
Sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm not sure if the headers and exaust is the same size but what size are the headers and what generation is the engine?
Still a little quiter then my 96 chevy 454 i have true 3in duals from the engine back to dual 3in bullet race muffles then it goes to dual 4in pipes
Beautiful truck!! Sounds great too!!
How much would you guys charge for a muffler delete on a 07 gmc yukon denali 6.2
I like big blocks!
Sounds awesome
These trucks are popular with Arabs, especially if they have a powerful engine 454💪🏽🔥🎶
Long tubes and a lumpy cam and it would be perfect. 🔥🔥🔥
(Edit: As soon as I made my comment the troll "Barack Putin" had to come here and say I could never get one of these and I would V6 swap it. Funny since I have a '88 Silverado 2500 with a cammed 396 big block, cammed, with a 4-speed and exhaust. 2 videos of my truck on my channel and multiple pics on Instagram. Stop already. 😀😀😀)

I have a 93 454 Same model what exhaust did you use including muffler if I may ask
No muffler
Does the guy in the black truck in this video got to page
He likes everything massive. I bet that's what his wife said too 😆. Sounds dam good
why would u put the cat so far away from the engine tho

I want my cars done
I’ve got one for sale just went through the motor and all
You know Chevrolet makes an HT502 big block for that truck makes 406hp 541ftlbs way better than the 454
Already in the works
I would have true dual.with 5”exhaust tips
How much would this cost on identical truck?? Also can I order these parts from you and install myself?
You want true decibels then cut that cat off and run true duals straight pipe with 4” echo tips. Lol then it’ll scream!
Trucks ready to tow some weight
Sounds great, but why not duals?
