- Uploading this ahead of the Staedtler Mars Technico 780 C clutch pencil/lead holder unboxing. I wasted one whole length of Staedtler Mars Carbon lead while simply trying to sharpen it in it's very own supposedly 'complimentary' Staedtler lead pointer tub. To confirm, i have sharpened the faber castell clutch pencil using the Staedtler lead point tub PLENTY of times. But the Staedtler tub keeps breaking the allegedly "robust" and "break resitant" Mars Carbon leads. What is going on here?
Iâve had the Mars Technico and sharpening can for 16 years, and this is how I find out what those little holes are for?
Wow đ€Ł. I bought this can because I thought if you put your lead in those holes, it sharpens as per the picture of the lead next to them.
you need to hold that pencil's lower spot, from sideway, with index, middle finger and thunbs, tightly. if you sharpen it with that grip position its gonna broke a lot.
Hello, thanks for the tip. I found the reason that it was breaking so much was because the tub sharpener was full. Once I emptied it, all was well.
I can't even tell how you're trying to suggest I hold these things, I sharpen it just the same way as OP and I've never broken my lead in the way they show in the Short. Please explain with a video maybe?
@@KageNage on second thought, I just watched my short and saw that I am already doing exactly as the commenter suggested. I gripped the pencil with my index, middle finger and thumb from the lowest part of the pencil.
@@DrawingTechnical after reading the post about how to hold the pencil, I had to get right up and do a test spin and what do you know, I was doing it right. Maybe there is a gene for thatđ€Ł
It is compatible confirmed. My tub was full and needed emptying, thatâs why I had problems sharpening.
Check to see if you have a broken lead down in the sharpener hole. I had 2 stuck down in there, used a needle to push them out and walla(đ), works fine. Took me a half hour to clean all the graphite dust.
After the video I found that the problem was that my tub was full. I felt silly after emptying it and it worked.
@@DrawingTechnical are saving the graphite that is emptied from your barrel. True graphite artis save the shavings into a small glass jar to save some money
@@judyferguson3185 no I threw it out into the bushes. I donât know what I could do with it, maybe shading.
@@DrawingTechnical yes, shading. You get a very soft look, no pencil marks at all. And a little bit goes a long way.
On the top of the Pencil, you will see a Hole on the Metallic Cap.
Take the Cap off, place the Lead inside, twist and sharpen to your preference. Tty it and tell me if it works.
I donât use that end cap sharpener because it gets messy, a chance to get the drawings messy. If I ever find myself fighting ninjas on top of a bullet train and I happen to need a sharpener at the time, then Iâll use it.
I believe your sharpener may be broken. Mine broke and I had broken leads. You can see in the video that the black part is not fit against the blue can. Two much play in your sharpener. Replace it.
I found the problem, the tub was actually full and I didnât realise. Once emptied it sharpened as normal.
dont staedtler mech pens have built in lead sharpener?
They do but using them is risky, graphite dust all over the drawing, I think theyâre just there for when youâre in a situation where you donât have a sharpener.
that sharpener can be used for wooden pencils right
Itâs not that sort of sharpener, it only sharpens the lead. If you shave the wood back and expose the lead, you could sharpen that, but the lead has to be strong and hard, 2mm thick.
Rocket league music in the backeoynd
Yeah, son was playing it in the background
Works for me
I found the problem, the tub was full to the top with lead dust and it worked after I emptied it
I never new there were a sharper for the 2 mm leads? I always use the hole on top of the Staeatler push button, or sand paper, one of those pads or stands for pencils.
Yeah theyâre called lead pointers. I donât like other methods of sharpening because itâs messy.
are you playing rocket league?
Hah, very sharp. My son was playing rocket league on the computer while I was recording this on the other side of the room.
