I read through the judge's findings & overall, I thought he was fair. The biggest problem, as you said, is him finding Omid credible. Then again, I'm sure he hasn't read Omid's books, or know the backstories.
Judges can be incredibly myopic when it comes to what's going on in the world.

Your little grey cells have been working overtime. Food for thought if not for prosecution.
You have added another layer on the adage: "Justice delayed is justice denied." I am afraid that, like most members of the public, I have moved on.I have no appetite for criminal prosecution. The present has more compelling issues for me. But law enforcement should never be about the howls of the mob, for or against. The judge needs to refer his findings to the police prosecutor and let the mills of justice begin to grind.

That’s nothing to do with Harry’s “truths”. No one is disputing it was wrong all unlawful information gathering during that period. The mirror newspaper group has admitted they did it and were part of it all from 2014. I think at this present time there’s been over 600 claims/ payouts made by the mirror news group alone since 2014.

I know some people think he’s harsh because he doesn’t play games but I like Piers Morgan. I don’t think there’s a topic I’ve seen him on that I don’t agree with him. Anyway since my most liberal friends seem to think (I don’t even know if they ever really watch him even when I send clips) I like some kind of raving conservative or something (conservative itself is not a bad thing, but depending in what way but since hear it would be called republican and I’m not sure over there. I’m just going with conservative because I don’t exactly know what they think anyway) but I thought I was liberal, but I mean I’m still liberal, but I’m definitely more centrist than all the way to the left just because even though I agree with everybody doing their own thing as long as nobody’s hurting anyone and I myself I think I’m somewhat conservative, but I’m sure there are people that would disagree who lead very pious lives, etc. My cigarettes alone would probably discount me.

How about the UK citizen who was executed by Iran in the midst of negotiations to release and repatriate him? Western military on high alert?NGOs, charities, contractors, retirees, etc. who had to leave the Middle East on as little as two days notice? All based on lies in Spare. Why would he say the multinational 50+ religion GWOT that has fought terrorists in South America and the Phillipines was a Christian army that went to the Middle East to kill Muslims? As even harry knows, that's a Christian Crusade. All men of Faith must rise to defend Islam. Just think about how hard it's going to be for Western troops to find indigenous Muslim allies between that and our shameful American abandonment of our Afghan allies. Harry claimed that he was trained to think of killing men as no more than removing chess pieces from the Board. When his former commander made a video addressed to Harry, he tried to explain to him the consequences of these lies, the danger they put people in. He even pointed out that Harry did nothing in Afghanistan that could cause PTSD. Harry has never been in combat, according to those who were stationed with him. All he did was play video games. They claim he was only in a helicopter to film scripted PR. No one corrected his mistakes. He was allowed to scream at and terrify a captive who was fully immobilized. He's even said in an interview that the first time he saw Wounded and dead men was flying home. Military with combat experience say they never forget that they are killing others. But, since Harry attributes his callousness to the military, the calls for revenge target all military. There's a lot more.

Shauna, without disclosing, as a social worker who has worked in Australia and seen the consequences of injustice for many people.. would we want justice? of course, do we continue to fight for twenty years for justice? no we do not.. why? because it will drive us insane, we don't have mummy and daddy to fall back on and pay our bills.. we run out of steam. Most people will attempt to take their lives (or succeed) or they end up having nervous breakdowns. the fact that Hazbeen can take this matter to course (after such an extensive time frame) is a clear case of privilege. It's the same in workplaces where the smeared victim of bullying is driven out of the company, while the corrupt bully who has often sabotaged & smeared co-workers to climb the greasy ladder, is treated as the golden goose by equally arrogant bosses who have been appraised of their behaviour. As you say, justice, for the most part, seems to be for the privileged or the cunning.

The judge stated H was well aware of the phone hacking scandal years ago and could have brought his case sooner, but he said he would allow H to proceed with the case on claims about other unlawful actions, including the newspapers' using private investigators to snoop on him.

I feel terrible for William, because this happened to him also. But he has been able to see the truth. His mother and brother have been destroyed by losing faith in the people around them that actually loved them and cared about their personal things. The fact that Harry has not learned that lesson from the BBC and Martin Basher's actions is sad that he would still blame his family for sharing information. Now Harry is on a rampage, but was it the press or the Palace? He can't decide. It would seem it was the press. I would like for Earl Spencer to sit him down and explain things. Harry might listen to him. t hey were all pawns for Fleet Street, and nobody was spared for newspaper sales. Dodgy ethics. It seems Harry does not know who was selling him out, but hopefully this verdict will inform him that it was not his family, and stop the attacks. Now Meghan is involved and she has latched onto this paranoia (weather she believes it or not, it works for her) about Harry's family, but she is responsible for putting a lot out there herself. How does William ever stop the attacks on him? Diana believed it of Charles, and it wasn't true, he did not pay her security to spy on her. They wanted her to be safe. Which brings up the question of why Harry wants Royal security, other than it would be free to him?

Charles Spencer publicly stated that he supports his nephew's witch hunt against the media, he would love it if they lost the freedom to report ever since he told someone some serious lies and was - innocently it must be said - outed by the media. He was not very happy at all and has had a vendetta against them ever since.

Since MGN settle cases long ago and admitted to some of the claims in the group settlements, the less said, the better. Going on the defense would bring more scrutiny. Piers wanted his day in court to defend himself, but it posed a bigger threat to both sides. Bravo that he made a personal statement to the press, out of court. Even the innocent are then judged guilty by association. It proves the Royal tactic of “Never complain, never explain” works in most circumstances.
You would have to admire if Harry was trying to stand up for an ethical standard of truth in the media, but he wants censorship of media. He wants “his truth” to be told and no one else’s. Media has to be more diligent in putting correct information out there. Fact checking no longer a priority, getting the “clicks” for monetary gain beats out truth. Too bad Harry fails miserably at his own moral conduct in his personal life by sharing information of those once close to him. Even if he could manage to tell the “truth” about a situation or a conversation shared in private, he never considers the others involved and the affects on their lives. He admittedly stated he sold out to make “protection money” for his family while ruining other families. The constant examples of documented hypocrisy can’t help but shed doubt and distain for anything Harry now touches. Harry and Meghan have proven themselves to be who they are. Unfortunately, they’re not who they want us to think they are.
I love your channel, because from the start, I saw that you always try to look at all sides, scenarios and possible motivations of what is written and presented to the public in your book reviews. It is okay to call a prat a prat, especially Harry. There’s plenty of documented evidence to prove your information correct and true. But, you are a genuine “lady” and you consider being fair. Which makes your Snarky Snippets even more delectable and hilarious when the lady shows a bit of cheekiness!💋💋 Keep up the great work.

Harry might think he won, but he was used and still is by everybody involved: his attorney, the media etc.
William took the money and donated it. At the same time he protected hus family and sent a message to the media to take good care in future. In my opinion he might have taken into consideration, that any involvement in a court case would distract and would not be of any use for other victims. And let's be honest Charles and William suffered more from unlawful actions by the media than Harry ever did. In fact Harry added to this by putting their private matters out there in court and invaded his father's and brother's privacy as much as the press did.
He could have supported the claiments without being one, but his ego didn't let go of his victimhood and need to be called "The Dragon Slayer". This is not the way to get real justice and hold the responsible people accountable.

Harry won on those articles where it was likely that illegal information gathering occurred because there were no other sources of legal information gathering offered. These cases were actually admitted by MGN and a settlement was offered before trial but Harry refused. He was offered first £200k and then £300k and turned down both offers. It's quite simple, he won because his case was proved. It's over a 300 page judgement going through each article, discussing the evidence, making the judgement and giving reasons why.

Another great video. Well explained and makes a lot of sense. To the question, how did the defence choose not to defend themselves like the could have. I think these court cases bring a lot of money. I have a feeling that Piers Morgan or others will and want to have their day in court. Imagine Piers Morgan taking Harry and Scobie to court for defamation!

Drinking tea while getting the tea is always delicious! As a former journalist great job! From my first media classes in ethics and law these are always thorny issues with no easy answers. Unfortunately going to court is the only way to handle irresponsible reporting if you want to keep free press ; but our court systems are also quite messy & justice can be tricky.

Maybe MGN wants Harry to pursue criminal charges against them? Maybe they want their day in court to put him under pressure on the stand.
I always felt that Harry joining this suit was doing a grave disservice to all the others who were part of the same suit. His presence seemed to turn the publics' perception of what they were trying to do into it being a "Harrys' personal fight against the media" show and it seems as if a lot of people wanted Harry to lose, and still do. Those people have all got lost in it because of Harry. His evidence highlighted his sense of superiority and entitlement. He thought he could literally just turn up and say someone did something with no evidence. The others were not offered 350,000 pounds to walk away from it 10 years ago. Harry is not after justice, he want to smack them around so that no newspaper or media outlet is game enough to publish anything about him or her that is not favourable. He wants to control what they say. His post finding statement refers to being a dragon slayer. It has been all about him. The other claimants want justice for the criminally invasive ways their personal lives were revealed to the world.

You have opened my eyes and shook me out of my echo chamber a little.
I remember when it all kicked off, I was on holiday in Turkey at the time and me and my brother were glued to the outside TV watching it unfold (drinking bottles of cold lager, in the sunshine so it wasn’t all bad)
We could not believe it brought down The News of the World.
I did not realise that there was a second Leveson Inquiry. Just shows how easily these important things get forgotten about and buried if there is no one ‘banging the drum’ and ironically it’s not that someone could go to the newspapers to keep the issue alive.
    Great video, thank you

A spin off from this is a sting in the tail for Prince Harry. He was offered £350,000 as a settlement which he refused. He has now been awarded £150 k ish. This means that he will have to bear cost consequences and it is going to cost him in the region of £1 million plus.

In terms of criminal proceedings, I feel like it in a time such as now, it is not worth cost as there are so much more important things to focus on.

I found it irritating that Harry’s case was heard way outside the statute of limitations and yet over fifty women in California, THEIR CASES weren’t going to trial because all of the rapes were past that statute. Atrocious crimes that they were affected the rest of their lives, yet Harry whining on his phone could still be heard. The disparity is mind boggling. Maybe it is America vs British law, but it seems outlandish to me.

"The court previously heard that Mr Scobie did work experience at The Daily Mirror in spring 2002, and overheard Mr Morgan being told that information relating to Kylie Minogue and her then-boyfriend James Gooding had come from voicemails.
In his judgment, the judge said an article about them in May 2002 carried the byline of James Scott “who was one of the showbiz journalists and a known phone hacker”.
The judge added that there was a £170 invoice from private investigator firm TDI to Mr Scott from earlier that month, for “extensive inquiries carried out on your behalf”, and the mobile telephone numbers of both people were in Mr Scott’s PalmPilot"
Scobie has form for lying on behalf of H and M and the invoice is old news so he could well have made up the story about overhearing the conversation.

You are to be commended for your fair and comprehensive treatment of this. If some one, or some entity breaks the law they should be held accountable. We are currently dealing with this in the US. No one should be above the law. Absolutely no one. If Harry was adversely affected (and I believe he was, both himself and his mother, father and brother) then he has the right to call it out. Keeping in mind a broken clock is right twice a day! Thank you for this unbiased look. (and have a very happy Christmas!)

Thank you. A couple of points: refuting anything may have been a distraction to the core reason for MNG ‘s case, attacking Harry’s credibility and memory. The other point was it doesn’t necessarily follow that an invoice from an investigator showing private number of celebrities means the numbers were hacked. Whilst I believe that criminal wrong doing shouldn’t be subject to a statute of limitations, at some stage, it’s about getting on with one’s life and maybe that can’t be done if justice is out of reach.

Thank you - a very useful background review and analysis. Many of us come to YT channels like yours to get this sort of meatier content, rather than just the mindless criticism and b*tching of the Montecitans , which can be found on many other channels, which - much like eating too many cream buns - is enjoyable at the time, but doesn't make you feel great in the longer term. Very much appreciate your accuracy and precision, and also putting forth alternative views and ideas for intelligent consideration. I am happy to allow H this small 'victory', in the wider interests of the greater good, on the assumption that his own sins will, indeed, find him out in the fullness of time. Things seem to be going fairly well in that respect at present...!

I can understand your points, and I had to make myself wait until the end before saying this. I believe when the Queen said recollections may vary, it is the most profound and true statement. It is also the basis for statute of limitations. While it seems unfair, we cannot negate our recollections of events evolve over time. This case did have facts and proof, but he had to weigh recollections of events. This is where I have a problem. Twenty some years ago, hacking was the norm, it was wrong, but it was how the papers gathered gossip. So I find it very difficult anyone who worked in the paper would recall detailed conversations when it was “the norm”. I’ll stop here, enjoyed listening to your thoughts even though I don’t wholeheartedly agree…. 🥰

I loved your take on the judicial ruling. I am a retired Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) and an ex-criminal prosecutor in the USA, so I cannot speak to the intricacies of the British criminal justice system; however, in the USA, the ability to pursue individuals criminally for most crimes (although not all) is limited by a statue of limitations. If a statute of limitations applies, then once it kicks in, the perpetrator(s) of the crime(s) can no longer be criminally prosecuted. My guess is this might also be the case in Great Britain, too, because the roots of of the majority of our legal system (except in Louisiana and some of our territories) were based on the British legal system. Somewhat of a bummer, don’t you think?

Your delivery of the situation has had the clarity of bells - thank you. Thanks for this explanation. I thinks it's a shame this case was bourght by a group of complainants. It muddies the issue because there is the potential for dislike towards any individual complainant. And there are the time lines. These issues happened a long time ago. During times when technology and the understanding about technology was at the child stage of development for many people. As someone who STILl struggles with phones and refrigerator settings...... I can see that even high powered people - the bosses - at that time might not fully understand how things were being done. Is this an excuse...? maybe.....? I can see though, that getting real clarity would have been and is tricky.
I have been thinking that following on from William's settlement, that the media have been tightening up on their practises. Self policing more, if you like....... so that hacking does not go on - now. I may be wrong in this assumption? Are the people who settled - back in the day - part of this latest case........ and if so, will they be able to be awarded damages? I do have a feeling that a few books will be written.
These days.... scammers are a scourge. A short while ago, I had taken out a subscription thing with a large concern..... and later cancelled it. The phone calls started about the subscription....... they just needed my card details to stop the direct debit. Luckily, I was aware and said no. I contacted the concern and they said they would NEVER do business over the phone call like that. It was a scam. - to get my card details. Many people do get caught out and lose lots of money to these scammers. The point is, how did the scammers get my phone number and how did they know I had recently cancelled my subscription. So, out there in the world of technology, bad things are still happening and no one seems able to stop it. ?
    Enough waffling from me.

It is "sticky" Shauna. It no longer happens and if a journalist was caught doing this now they would almost certainly be prosecuted so they dont. A better outcome than historically evidenced show trials or a Ministry for Press Regulation.
Finally, as you point out the real victims here were the unsuccessful claimants (in costs terms probably all of them) who no doubt encouraged by Harrys presence in the Group were persuaded to turn down reasonable offers of settlement in favour of speculative claims in which in truth they were expecting a much bigger payday rather than "justice". Its an ingenious and quite deadly Judgment for a lot of malefactors.
I'll shut up now. I do enjoy your clear headed, sharp and sparklingly humorous analysis; but what you get from the Law is the Law; for justice there's always Socrates.
