  • A lot of you are curious about food processors, judging by how many watched my first run through with my MagiMix 4200XL! Exactly 2 months after I first tried it for you guys, I am giving you an update on how it has performed, and what I use it for the most.

Hello. My Magimix food processor is 25 years old and still works brilliantly . About 5 years After buying it I wanted other discs to grate and slice thicker and I thought long and hard and decided to buy another big bowl just in case .....the bowl stayed in a cupboard for 15 years ....until the original one broke . After throwing away the old one I checked on Internet and found that you couldn't find the replacement any longer . So you might be wise and buy another bowl within the next 5 years since that's about the only piece that can break . It would be such a shame to throw the food processor away because you can't find the bowl .

I know this is an older video now, but I’m sure this is still the one most watched by people looking at Magimix food processors. To give my feedback, like others, our Magimix is 30 years old and going strong. However, the bowl has cracked and is no longer available. Nonetheless, great advertisement for Magimix longevity. As we hope to have our replacement last 30 years we’re looking at the 5200xl. For reference the dimensions are identical to the 4200xl but 20mm higher. It has a more powerful motor and slightly higher capacity.

Hi Liv, thank you for your entertaining and learning video's. especially the one one bread (dough), was very helpful for me (did not know how to use the big bowl except making big batches of bumbu for 5 persons+..). Respect for your non profit comments regarding MaxiMix, but just your own, honest and most of all, practical experiences. In my being as a 'hobby cook', I'm most into Indonesian and Italian kitchen. Oh ja, I have a 3200 mass basher for about a year now, also convinced after watching your vid's.. The reason to react, except for thanking you, is to mention for viewers that the small bowl is perfect for making stronger mixes; bumbu, pesto etc. Agree, not as good as in a cobek, but an onion, some chilli, garlic, trassi, coriander, cumin and some salt, makes a base for your Indo cooking. Pine nut, basil, garlic, olive oil, salt and parmesan, will finally come to a good pesto for your pasta our sauce. Carry on in what you're doing. I will follow. Hugs, JC. Friesland, Netherlands.

I can beat B.Simpson. I bought possibly the first Magimix in the early 70's and used it probably twice weekly
until recently. The motor is still going, the lid lost a piece and I had to hold it down when using and the larger grater
shaft broke. A couple of years ago I got in touch with Magimix to see if the lid or grater could be replaced, wishful thinking
I know, but I'm an 85 year old and did not want to spend the money on a new machine. However Alison at Magimix couldn't
fix the lid but sent what she could find including a grater, Yay, free of charge from Sydney to Perth.
Last Christmas my family found a second hand Magimix 4200LG for me. Unfortunately it had a few cracks in the bottom
of the large bowl which I managed to fix with Sugru but as I'm not sure how long that will last I inquired about the cost of
a new bowl. Spoke to Alison and she found a secondhand one which is also coming to me next week free of charge.
    How is that for service?
My reason for buying the original one was I had four teenagers who loved pies and burgers and I hate fat so I would buy, usually round steak lighty freeze and cut off as much fat as possible, chop up a bit then mince with the chopping blade.
Pastry made easily in machine, short bread, carrot cake, soup so much easier with Magimix.
Original one MOTOR STILL GOING. Worth every penny and great service

Thank you for review Liv, I just bought the 5200 xl but I'm about to ship it again. There are scratches on the bottom of the large bowl due to the midi bowl. Did you experience the same thing with yours? and the seller says this is normal and will happen with time, but I found it unhealthy to use a scratched bowl. What do you think?

hello, Greetings from Honduras, I have a question: My wife and I want to start a business selling organic and homemade peanut butter and other nuts and mixes.
Do you think that the Magimix 4200XL can help us process 5-10 pounds (15-30 cups) of peanuts a day, 2 or 3 times a week?

    • @TheFromScratchBody

What an amazing comment!! Thank you for watching from Honduras and how awesome that you want to do this! I think you can do that amount in it, yes. I normally do a small batch for my family, which is about 3, maybe 4 cups. That’s not close to filling the large bowl (note that I now use the Cook Expert and the processor part of that is slightly bigger, but I did do this with my 4200xl too). I must disclaim I haven’t used it this much/regularly myself, but my guess is you would be fine to do that. I’m curious to pose this question to the Magimix team and see what they say! All the best with your business! ♥️💪🏼

Hi Filipa, lovely to meet a fellow nut butter-lover and thank you for commenting! I had a quick check with my large bowl now and I reckon it could do a kilo of almond in the big bowl. It certainly fits it easily.
The only factor to consider is that the motor might get hot, but honestly as quickly as it makes nut butter I doubt it would be a problem. A few people have messaged me with the same issue you’re having and when they try roasting they get back to me and let me know that changed things!
