#NintendoSwitch #BestSwitchGames #Switch - Hry
We'd like to give a special shoutout to a game we didn't feature, Balatro. Unfortunately this game didn't enter our radar until the video was all but complete, and we didn't have time to change that fact.
We highly encourage you to check out our written review on nintendolife.com though: www.nintendolife.com/reviews/switch-eshop/balatro
Is there any way I can apply to be a reviewer/writer for NintendoLife?
I can’t believe the Switch is 7 years old today, it may not be cutting edge in technology but it more than makes up for it with the sheer amount of quality games it has.
There is a lot to be said for ease of use too. The hybrid nature has allowed me to play more games than I ever dreamed as an adult with a family and kids. The late nights when my wife falls asleep first in bed, plus long bathroom breaks, they all add up lol
Many pc gamers miss the novelty of quality exclusives 💞
@@munkyman33 same, here and it’s also made me realise what’s important, gameplay, accessibility and fun, I would take those over 4K graphics and 120fps.
Too many on my backlog already. But the sales are too good!
It actually is considered cutting edge nothing has really came out yet to challenge it as for portable consoling currently
I truly can't believe we got Tears of the Kingdom, Mario Wonder, Pikmin 4 AND Mario RPG in the same year. I would say these are all 10/10 games. Also, I just recently played Sea of Stars and it was an amazing retro style JRPG. I had a ton of fun with it. I don't remember a year where we got so many top tier games like this.
2023 was amazing , but 2024 appears to be the end of the current state of the industry
2023 was the best year for Switch and I got mine at the right time but I can’t help but wish I’d gotten the Switch sooner but better late than never I guess.
Good to hear, it's the most tempting option for me to get on this list, the only one I looked up real quick after seeing. Can I ask, is the story done well, like the way they talk, character depth and socializing, emotional value, etc? It's one of the most important, if the not most important, part of a game for me. Used to read novels like crazy when I was in elemtary.
@@SizemicKick177 If you're talking about Sea of Stars I would say the story was pretty good. There are a lot of people saying it's pretty basic, and there are certainly basic aspects. But at no point did I think oh this story sucks. I thought for an RPG it was solid. Good characters, good story progression. Good character development.
I got a switch at launch in 8th grade, and now its with me at University. 7 years came went so fast
I got a switch at 32 and now I am married with two daughters
how's the battery life sir?
@joefelcui8241 yo honestly, it's not so bad, the later revisions of the switch have better battery life, but my v1 switch gets like 2 hours on Tears of the kingdom before needing to charge. Overclocked like 1.5 (I have it homebrewed) indies and lighter games 2.5 hours. I've taken care of it tho, I never let it get below 50% before charging it back up. I've been mindful of battery health, same with my laptops that have lasted me over 10 years. Not many scuffs or scratches, still have my OG joycons and the right one barely got drift after 7 years
@@jcgonzalez84
Congrats man! My 4 year old noticed my boxed up Wii U and was curious about it. Now we’re playing Nintendo Land like crazy!
@@joefelcui8241Is fine on my end too. I am not a big portable player thought. So whenever I play mobile, 2 hours tops. Had the console with a screen protector since day 1, so 0 scratches. Still have the original joy cons that were fixed by Nintendo.
Bayonetta: Origins is so underrated
Ive had mine since 2018 and its my absolute favorite system. My husband and i met a year later and we bonded over our love for the switch. Some of my best video game memories have been connected to the Switch!
There were so many great games in the past 12 months but one I want to highlight is Wildfrost, a winter-themed roguelike deckbuilder with a colourful cartoon artstyle that is just as much about positioning your units and creating an advantageous board-stare as it is about playing the cards in your hands. Basically, each unit card has a countdown and the enemy always attacks first so you want to make it so that you either slow them down or prevent them from making a significant impact while at the same time making your side strong enough to deal maximum damage when they attack. Like all the best games, it's easy to learn as you can always hover over any card at any time to tell exactly what it does and what terms mean but also incredibly difficult and satisfying to master. It came out in April 2023 and is also on Steam.
Thank you for all your videos guys! Great work😊
Eastward and The Wild at Heart are two indie games that stole my heart. Some of my absolute favorites on the Switch.
Alex's computer backgrounds are quickly becoming my favorite thing.
I got a switch when I got my undergrad degree. Now I’ve had my masters for two years, got married, bought a house, and have an 8 month old. Time flies!
What a good year! Was Metroid prime remastered technically year six?
Some of my picks are: Octopath Traveller II, Atelier Ryza 3, Atelier Marie Remake as well as CRYMACHINA.
Fire Emblem Engage had stupendous tactical gameplay (As long as you're playing it on hard at least), party options and soundtrack.
It’s outside the time period. I think it was in last year’s video
Yes, absolute masterpiece of a game, underrated though it may be.
i would like to add Shiren the Wanderer the Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island to that list
just released and its real a switch exclusive gem
How is Balatro not on here if it was just listed as a “game of the year contender”? Would also like to make a case for Paranormasight as a fantastic visual novel option
Just wanted to say your way of presenting, talking and the sound of your voice are just amazing. Really enjoyable!
A great list. I would also add in Cereza and the Lost Demon, Have A Nice Death, Patrick’s Parabox, Chants of Sennaar, Shotgun King, and The Master’s Pupil.
I would include Star Ocean Second Story R. Beautiful rpg
Brotato is a must play if you enjoy vampire survivors. It also came out on switch in 2023.
7 years?! What?!
Crazy right
Gonna give my shoutout to Fate/Samurai Remnant here. Great action hack&slash with loads of characters, three storylines and a bunch of side stories to complete, there’s a bit of reading involved since it’s got story but it’s a great time and a high recommend.
I've Played Ghost Trick Phantom Detective, on the Nintendo DS, the games length is great, and solving the puzzles was amazing, fun to play from the begin all the way to the end. Playing the game blindly is good advice, as viewing the ending would seriously ruining the whole game.
awesome , fun and helpfull video. good job dude
You gave Balatro a rare 10/10 - I get that it's temporarily off the eShop but surely it should be here?
Alex, how _dare_ you skip *Astral Ascent* 😱 it's the best roguelite since Hades!
Heck, I personally think it's even _better_ than Hades.
I demand you make a new video to replace this one, and have the 22 best games of the Switch's 7th year.
I've never felt the excitement that I felt when I first played TOTK in any other game. The hype is real. I bought the TOTK OLED, the case and the base game. I'm like a kid spending my Christmas early in May.
Hard to put Advanced Wars on this list when Wargroove 2 is available. It pretty much upgrades the formula on every front.
SMB Wonder and TOTK at the end... That randomizer is crazy...
Man, I can’t wait for the next console! Hoping it comes out by next year! 🙏
Advance Wars might be my favorite game on the Switch. It’s just terrific and I’m so glad it’s on this list.
Ghost Trick is a great shout!
0:22 that second date should actually be 23:59 2nd of March, not 3rd. 🙃 March 3rd 2024 is the first day of the 8th year of Switch's life.
Id love to see a top ten favorite switch games of all time from Alix, Felix, Zion, and all of Nintendolife staff. (The top 10 ten switch games all of time that everyone at Nintendolife aggress on)
Don’t let blud cook again
I wish all these remakes and remasters and ports thing would of been a thing from the beginning of the switch life spand
I'd probably put in Star Ocean: The Second Story R, and if you're willing to count it then XC3: Future Redeemed easily belongs there ❤
How do you put Pikmin 1 + 2 but not Metroid Prime?
Where is metroid dread
Man 7 years, time does fly.
Man, what a year it was!
Sonic Adventure 2 displayed in the background of the vid? SA2 COMING TO THE SWITCH CONFIRMED?!!? lol
I loved playing GhostTrick on my 3DS XL it's a fantastic game
ahhhh, they missed dredge and bomb rush cyberfunk. runner up goes to cassette beasts.
Next year's video of this kind should be quite interesting...
Can you play with bots in Quake2?
What an incredible line up for a console people said was finished last year! This was truly a wonderful year for us Switch owners! I know my wallet's still mad at me! 😅
As far as current games goes I play MK8D in GameXplain Mondays tourney and Tetris 99 in their Thanksgiving streams. I'm glad NSO has NES/SNES/Gameboy systems/N64 games lots of us likes those games and lots of us likes Darby of Blue Television Games Tuesdays streams of usually lots of classic games from lots of classic video games systems picked by lots of people in the chat.
Outer Wilds is such an amazing experience
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Future Redeemed should be on this list. Yes it's a DLC but it's longer and more in depth than other complete games.
Yep, especially compared to some of those bland indies that somehow got on the list.
Fate/Samurai Remnant, Rain Code, Dredge, Chants of Sennaar, Paranormasight, Star Ocean Second Story R and the FF Pixel Remasters all belong on here.
7 years already and i just bought one last week lol
So Metroid Prime Remaster is in the previous year list?????
...But I don't have any toys. lol
...My cat has toys, you going to stomp on them?
No love for Suika Game?
man I almost cried when TOTK theme played
Did you say “Turn Based RPG game” then put TBRPGG on the screen? Doesn’t the G in RPG already stand for “game”?
Nope, it stands for glorious. Role Playing Glorious Game
Leaving Octopath Traveler 2 out is criminal
My 26th birthday is today, and I remember on my 19th, I got the switch. Best birthday ever, and now that's 7 years ago 😐😅
Happy Birthday
The fact that monster Hunter didn’t make this list literally killed the whole video🤣
Link's Awakening should be on the list. One of the best games to be experienced on Nintendo Switch, in term of gameplay, story, graphics and yes the music.
Looks like someone didn't understand the criteria for the list
Came out 2019…
Cannot express enough how good Katamari games are, insanely good games.
That's a very, erm, specific take on the "best" games, imo. The absence of all the great JRPGs released during this period on the Switch is staggering.
Doom absolutely is 3d. It just goes about it in some quirky ways.
Any persona is great on switch :)
1) Mario Wonder
2) Zelda TOTK
3) Mario RPG
(My personal opinion)
Dredge is also good
Where is Octopath II?
Think it came out in Feb last year so too late
Where’s Warioware Move it?!!?!
Alex is my favorite game
The game you’ve always wanted but end up stuck playing by yourself?
I kinda doubt he would fit in the cardridge slot
U showed nothing of the building stuff part in the new zelda, and its kind of tedious
Tears of the Kingdom is so much more of a complete experience compared to BotW for a number of reasons. Saying that, it’s not the best Switch game nor the greatest Zelda experience.
I’m debating on buying sea of stars or Mario rpg, anyone that played both and recommend one or the other …. Or both I guess 😂😂
Mario rpg is really good short game I’d buy it on sale not for full price
@@lukehenry07 thanks for your reply sounds smart
That was a peculiar, not to say weird, list lol
I really don't think it's THAT hard to explain ghost trick without spoiling. it's not like the gimmick is SUPER far in or something.
I've been a massive Zelda fan since I was like 5. I was SO BORED of botw, Minish Cap was way better imo. I barely played it, maybe 10 hours. Was NOT worth my time, even after getting the challenge mode DLC. Ugh I wasn't even dissapointed... I just didn't care about it. That's how bad it was for me.
Totk bosses were WAAAAY to easy, but everything else made the game really enjoyable for me. But because I liked it so much I was extremely dissapointed by how easy every boss was, especially 3rd form Ganondorf, and it hurt because of how epic and intense the journey to his resting place was. I almost wanted to shed a tear out of sadness for how much of a missed opportunity it was.
Metroid prime remastered?
I think it was out before the Switch’s birthday last year.
@@mmcc8352fair play
F-zero 99
Mariokart 8 Deluxe
Crashdrive 3 (all consoles)
Nah you're right, BOTW is a tech demo/proof of concept compared to TOTK.
You forgot about Metroid remastered…
Am I the only person who hated Pikmin 1 on the Gamecube?
So two good games. That is really bad.
qomp2 is such a random choice
I prefer the first three games. But pikmin4 is great but the controlls arent great
I really wish there were some or even many more Mario games as exciting and interesting as Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. I miss Mallow and Geno, I am never ever giving up on them. The remake of Super Mario RPG was an extreme dream come true so now I am dying for the next great future's next exciting surprises.
Xenoblade
Asttal chain
Bayonetta
Fire emblem
fire emblem 3 houses is one of the best games on switch😁
Dredge 🔥
Balatro?
Cocoon ❤
Why would anyone pay 300 bucks for a console filled with shoveware games is beyond me... and this is a top 20...
Yeah because TLOZ TOTK or Pikmin are shovelware. If anything you should question why would anyone buy a PS5 or Xbox when you can play those on PC and cheaper 😂
No xenoblade?
Luigi mansion 3
Tears of the Kingdom is the best game I’ve ever played in my entire life.
Metroid Prime robbed 😭
That came out in Feb 2023 and thus wasn’t eligible. It was in the previous list
They seem to be focusing on more recent games I think from maybe October 2023 I’m just glad that I own a few of the games featured on this list, such as Super Mario RPG and Super Mario Bros wonder.
Where’s Pizza Tower??
On Steam.
Dragon quest monsters dark prince
