Please take note on these comments posted about how the Amish treat their horses.
When you said she's going to the Amish person I thought oh no that's not good. I don't mean to dish on them but I've seen many horses over worked broken down in the pipe line hope this doesn't happen to her. Please investigate further before sending her.❤
We have good and bad here in PA. I sure Allen vetted them well.
The Amish have a reputation for mistreating their horses. You should have done some research. Poor Charlotte. 😢
Please do not send any horses to the amish . Horse plus human society in Tennessee rescues thousands of horses from the amish in horrible condition out of the saluted pipeline. Please please reconsider your decision!!!,
Be careful with the Amish. Make sure they take care of her and not leave her with nothing to eat or drink and overwork her. She is so sweet. I hate to see anything abused I know you check people out thoroughly.
It's pretty obvious that Charlotte is GONE now---she will not be "checked up on" and Out of Sight, Out of Mind is the prevailing decision.
It gets very cold there and both horses were raised in hot dry temperature and it is going to be rough on the horses especially lady with her age and her arthritis I am proud of you taking in horses and finding good homes Goodmorning Mrs Vickie what are you cooking up today God Bless sending prayers for you and the horses
So sorry to see Charlotte go.
Oh my gosh, I’m gonna be praying for these horses. So much information on how the Amish treat horses. It’s just heartbreaking. I don’t understand why you would sell them. I love God please take care of these horses. Please don’t let them be work to death in Jesus mighty name I pray. My heart is absolutely broken with this news.
PeaceAndLove
Lori
Good afternoon Alan could you please turn the camera around so we could see the horses when you were talking? Wow I think a lot of people mentioned that would happen back when Maureen was riding her when she was pregnant running her and jumping her yeah I don’t know but I remember that discussion came up on the CZcams. That’s so sad that she has to leave the farm and I thought you had said that she was the horse that anybody could ride and you wanted to keep her on the farm.😢
It's wonderful to find good homes for the horses. When I lived in Oregon I was able to get horses out of the pipeline and find homes for them but now I'm in ca and it's crazy expensive to keep even one horse. There's another channel I watch online and they go to rescue at auctions where there are a LOT of horses being sold by the Amish so I hope this is a forever home for Charlotte. I'm still posting links for Jarrett across the country ♥
I'm afraid I also have mixed feelings about how the Amish treat their animals. They are admirable people in many ways, and I admire them----but when it comes to dogs and horses, not so much.
I probably watch the same channel - Horse Plus Humane Society in Tennessee - and see the same thing. It is part of the Amish culture to use horses like machines until they are worn out, then send them to auction, some with bad injuries. Mostly drafts who draw top price from kill buyers. Charlotte really isn't big enough for a traditionally Amish horse, but please reach out to the people taking Lady and ask what the plan is for Charlotte's use. You could also put in the sales contract she can't go to auction and you have the right of first refusal to take her back. Thanks.
You need to go to a horse auction in Amish country. You will change your mind
They raise beautiful horses to make money. They work their buggy and farm horses until they are broke down. then they go to slaughter.
Thanks for taking me along on the goodbye ride for Maureen and Charlotte.
I have heard terrible things about how the Amish treat their horse please rethink this!!!!
Eli Youder videos will explain why you need to be sure you don’t send Charlotte to her death.
I used to give rides to the Amish also. It was in my car or truck. They don’t need a ride on a horse, they have plenty of those.
I have heard horrible things about how the Amish treat their horses. I pray she will be in a good home.
She will be well!
@@TheFarmonRoute66 - how do you know?
@@TheFarmonRoute66 This will be a terrible place for her. Disappointed you would make this irresponsible decision. Majority of amish don’t treat their horses well. I feel terrible for these horses. You will regret this as not going to a good home!!
@@TheFarmonRoute66 No she won’t
Seen many Amish horses at auction going to slaughter if not bought. Many end up in slaughter trucks
I sure will miss seeing Maureen on your channel. Please wish her safe travels back home.
I don’t know much about the Amish people. After reading some comments I hope and pray Charlotte will have a safe and loving home where she is going.
Please dont send to the amish. Shes been such a good pal to mareen. Maybe one day one of your grandchildren will want to jump her. I know its your business. Just not a fan of how a lot of the amish treat their horses.
I would have to say that with the others on here that this is the first time I have ever totally disagreed with your choices for Lady and Charlotte. It is your business but I hope your at least getting some money for them, if your giving away this older mare, know that she would bring several hundred at a kill auction, the kill buyers like to get the bigger and in decent condition horses as they sell them to the slaughter house by the pound. That said,, never give away a horse charge at least 5 to 9 hundred because it isn't just the Amish that send their horses to kill auctions, lots of people do it. If they get the horse for free, all they think about is the profit .
I don' t want to disparage all Amish, but I have seen over and over and over animals on the tv, that have gone up for auctions, and they are in terrible condition. She, most likely, won't have any fun...she will be used and worked to the max until she is used up and ends up in an auction....beaten down and without any life, even in her eyes .
... This breaks my heart💔 😥
The Amish/Mennonite people have change their ways in the last 20 years. The horse are now treated better than some of non Amish/Mennonite. Here in Ontario Canada They treat their equines like royalty. They are aware of being observed by others.
@@margaretporkolab7166 - maybe in Ontario...
@@sharihenderson7621 I know a few of them in the USA and they treat their animals well. Even at their Auctions.
@@margaretporkolab7166 Many have not changed, do not be fooled.
@@margaretporkolab7166 - Oh please Margaret! These horses are going to travel a minimum of 30 hours, one being older and arthritic to people he doesn't even know but have sent a video of (their place?) and used the typical "my grandchildren will love them". Regarding the Amish, there are a few that treat their animals well but statistically it is a well known fact about their puppy mills and their abuse of their horses. I could elaborate on some other situations I know of regarding the Amish -- standard stuff - but would never be "allowed" to post it.
What a beautiful last ride Marine! I'm going to really miss seeing you on the channel. I hope you come for a visit someday. Lots of love and blessings to you and your family. I know you family and friends are very anxious to have you home.
After watching so many rescue channels for years now, I would NEVER EVER give or sell a horse to the Amish. They are not all terrible to their horses, but many are. So many drafts and standard bred end up in auctions after they are worn down and broken. Most go to the kill buyers and the torment of all that on top of a life nothing but work. Sorry that is the way I feel, if you KNOW the Amish family, then perhaps that is different. I hope you do not regret this decisions. While I am at it, it is also a well known fact that the majority of puppy mills now are huge operations and owned by Amish In PA, Ohio and more. they sell online, you cannot go to the place, and they are selling the most wanted pure bred breeds at sometimes less than half of what a good breeder charges. They can do that because they breed thousands every year. Sorry again, ONLY and I mean ONLY if I had personal knowledge of Amish families, I would never buy a dog from them and I would never sell or give a horse away to them.
💯 right! Most Amish have a bad reputation when it comes to animals. 💔
Lancaster Pennsylvania has always being raided for animal cruelty and puppy mills.
I fully agree with you. I hope Alan investigates this Amish person a LOT more before delivering a horse to suffer that existence.
Yes, we got a golden retriever puppy at Amish farm. So much breeding/inner breeding. We love our Willow, however she has vision issues since she was a puppy. They are good judges of horse flesh but they work their animals to death then dump them in the slaughter pipeline. Very poor decision. Anyone can show you a pretty pasture but that doesn't mean it is THEIR property. I preferred Duchess to Charlotte but so sorry for her to be going to Amish country. Im in Ohio so i know what this could mean for Charlotte.
You are going to get roasted going to the Amish. Not always great care there. Check out some of the auctions.😢
Something sounds weird to me about this. I don't know why. I hope you check up on them after.
Good bye Maureen and God bless y'all
We will miss you Maureen. Have a safe trip home and I hope you keep in touch with Allan and Vicki and I hope they keep us updated on you.
Hope Charlene is going to a GOOD Amish family. I don't think I would sell a horse to them as they aren't forever homes for horses.
She has really began to be a true cowgirl. it has been fun watching her.
So sad to see both Charlotte and Maureen leaving the farm. But clearly Charlotte lived her best life while Maureen was there. You should frame that picture of Maureen and Charlotte on top of that hill in the badlands and give it to Maureen. It's a magnificent image. Wishing Maureen all the best in the next chapter of her young life. It has been a real pleasure watching her experience here in the states with your family.❤
I really hope they don't hook them older horses up to buggies. I'm in ohio and we have Amish and Mennonite here and they run them poor horses up and down the road on pavement all day sometimes. Lady couldn't handle that with her arthritis. I hope they do retire her.
Lady is being retired
Give rides to the Amish?? That doesn't even make sense. They are self sufficient and don't get involved like that with towners. I grew up in Amish country - not Amish myself. Most of the Amish are notorious for using horses to the max as buggy horses and they are big about sending them to auctions when they're broken down. Check out alot of horse rescues and you'll find out what I'm saying is true. Yep, they don't want pictures of themselves taken but something is not right with this story. And
I think sending a 21 year old arthritic horse that far is wrong!
I'm uneasy about Charlotte's future too. I live in Ohio and have had mixed emotions (disappointment) regarding Amish, the good and the bad. They're also notorious for puppy mills.
I am suspecting they give rides to the Amish means they drive them in the car not having to do with actual horses. Yes there is much talk about the Amish however you can't judge all by some and there are good and bad. Some love their horses. I just watched an Amish horse auction on line and the horses were so well trained, happy and in great condition....the sale was exceptional. Big arena to show horses in front of buyers as they were auctioned which I think is less stressful than most auction arenas. The lady doing the video was extremely impressed by quality, care etc. Meanwhile you can see horse auctions where the horses run thru like cattle in pitiful shape even being whipped in the ring ...and are non Amish owned. Puppy mills are a lot Amish but again also many non Amish. I don't condone either or pet stores who sell puppies.
@@treciahamm2931 - I understand what you're trying to say - not all are bad but having seen what I've seen (I'm nearly 67 years old), I can tell you there's something not right about this story.
And besides that I am still against sending a 21 year old arthritic horse that far - The Word Of God clearly states: A righteous man regards the life of his beast. (Proverbs 12:10). We are responsible for their well-being and we will give account for that.
I too, worry about Charlotte. The Amish around here, treat them horribly. Use and abuse and then end up in the slaughter pipeline.
Yes I agree moving an older horse is high risk. We dealt with that when my mom passed her 22 yr old mustang mare. She was too healthy to put down but felt a move would be too hard. Thankfully the neighbor bought my moms place and wanted to keep her as the pasture ornament she was in her home she had lived for all her life since 3 yrs old.
I spent 20 years roaming the US and Canada due to my job and many times interacted with Amish. Some funny stories from interactions. Choosing the right person and situation for our animals if we must rehome is a priority. I never sold a horse at auction but I did buy a few auction horses over the years. And yes I am a bit older than you and no longer have horses as I know I can no longer physically care for them properly.
I’m nervous for Charlotte 😬
No,you are making a mistake. Their old horses go to slaughter!! Please rethink this decision, you are sending her to her death!! Awful decision from NC
your right, also Lady with her problems too long a trailer ride for her and when she gets there, yes the place looks nice, but it is a long cold winter in Michigan. These horses will struggle with the cold especially Lady. Sorry Alan , this is a bad decision.
@@claudiadickerman4218 I pray he will change his mind! Terrible decision for any horse.
Its too far to send the horses, especially the old one. Charlotte doesnt deserve to be sent to the amish. You could sell them nearer to home. Might not be worth rescuing them if they end up being illtreated when sold on
@@darcieondeck Probably for the money but I wouldn't sleep at night. Not everything is about money, home is more important
Wow that year has flown by so fast, I will miss Marine and Charlotte Alan, and I hope that Charlotte will be looked after and treated well by her new owner, please tell Marine that it was so lovely to meet her and have a safe journey home, tfs x Julie 🇬🇧
I agree with everyone, the Amish work their horse hard. My thoughts for Charlotte.
I think "the best" we can hope for Charlotte is that this particular Amish man saw an opportunity to pick up a cheap horse and re-sell it, hopefully to someone looking for a nice little saddle horse for their family. Fingers crossed.
In the Midwest most rescue organizations rescue Amish horses. They try and get them healthy, and rehabbed to hopefully get adopted. Huge mistake!!….🍀🇺🇸
poor Charlotte I hope Ben is not going to work her to death. I really don’t think you should do this 😢
Alan can't you ask that they give you first refusal if they ever want to sell those two mares.
POOR Charlotte. Big mistake to give amish. Will end up in the slaughter pipeline. 😢
@margaretporkolab7166 I am pleased to hear that people are seeing a change in the approach of the Amish community towards their workhorses. However, all of the auctions that I am watching are current auctions.
I would like to advocate for a clause, in the Sale Contract, allowing for annual review of the horse, to ensure that their physical and mental state is within the bounds of reason.
I agree that is the LEAST you can do letting them go where you will not be able to check on them.
My prayers going up for Charlotte and Maureen. May God’s security and protection overflow on both of them.
I'm sorry for Charlotte. Be in a kill auction in a couple years or sooner.
We sold my childhood Shetland pony to the Amish, they had him for 2 weeks and he was dead, they shot him. I cried for days.
I hope these turn out to be good homes for both Lady and Charlotte. 💖🙏💖
I live not too far from Amish Country in PA. I've been to several Amish Farms and seen firsthand the way their horses are treated. I've also been to the sales and it would break your heart. Please do not send Charlotte to them. They literally work their horses to death behind the buggies. Most are skinny and underfed for the work they do. I've seen barns where the horses can hardly stand because the concrete stall floors have broken holes here and there and no bedding. Yet they are proud of a good horse and would take offense at what I am saying. When a horse is used up they go to the sale and most end up going to slaughter. This is not a good ending for Charlotte.
Please don't let them take the horses, please 🙏. Hawaii 🌴. If i was closer i would take them for my grand daughter, she graduated vet. school. Now back home as a vet. She loves horses, and so do I. Please don't send them there 😢😢
Praying for both horses...I pray the move finds living their best life❤
@pamelavargas6811 - I believe in the power of prayer but this is like someone driving 80 mph in a 35 mph speed zone and asking God to protect them. He does give us common sense. At the very least this horse will spend 30 hours on a trailer(s) from Arizona to Michigan having to balance herself the whole way through all the turns, bumps, etc. not to mention how many times will she be allowed to rest/get off the trailer? Have water? Irresponsible decision! Is that video of their place or next door or a video from a stop on the road? Those pasture horses looked pretty far away. Just saying....
@@sharihenderson7621 I am praying with faith 🙏
Sending to Amish is horrible my God be with them😢😢
From the rescue Belgian horses I have seen the Amish are cruel to their horses. Amish country is fine, but the Amish themselves I am unsure of big time.
Please tell Maureen we will certainly miss her.
Marine has done very well with Charlotte. You will miss both of them.
Sad😢
the Amish life in NO life. I don't normally chime in on the choices others make but I have a very strong dislike for how the Amish treat their animals. They are not pets to them. They are nothing but tools to be used until they can no longer function. I am very sad for this horse. She is going from your loving home to be used with no love until she dies. Bless you and your family and poor Charlette.
It won't be til Charlotte dies. She will be in a kill pen/auction before that! Check the kill pen in Texas where Amish dump many many horses. People at auction says loads came from the Amish. Check their conditions. Drafts and buggy horses!
I very rarely comment on anything BUT what on earth are you thinking selling to the Amish is a life time of
, at best not the life she deserves at worst ill treatment for the poor horse. Even if this Amish family are decent and care for Charlotte what happens when she is sold on! I shudder to think She deserves much better 😢
She loads really well
Hope you can keep in touch with Charlotte's new owners.
Waw waw waw what a landscape!!!❤❤❤❤
The Amish ask us englishers to drive them to the big cities for Dr appointments and etc.. They also pay the drivers. Yes they dont like pictures taken and the dolls have faces. You are right about the other things.
I hope this works out well for these horses but am concerned and need to sign off…. prayers for these horses. 🙏
😱 poor ol gal!
Have them send a close up of their horses and barns and stables.
Where are they in Mi? _I would love to know where they are. Thanks.
❤❤❤❤ very exciting
Bad choice sending the horse to Amish country
Marine is going home and Charlotte in going to a new home also. Marine has taught her well and the new people will get a well-trained horse.
You’re sending a horse to AMISH people???????? PLEASE tell me you’re kidding!! That horse will be dead in no time.
I think i'm done, ridiculous, i've seen all the bad rescues too.
They end up at the kill pens!!!
Absolutely and have a suspicion the reason she spooked may have been perhaps the rattling of a rattle snake ...since Charlotte was out in the wild on the reservation I bet she had heard that sound before and spooking was self preservation and instinct kicking in...hope her new owner appreciates what a special horse she is
The thing I love about all these negative comments about the Amish is that NONE OF THEDE PEOPLE know the family on question. I don't see them offering to adopt Lady. The family on question isn't even Amish!
❤❤
😢 we will Maureen and Charlotte❤❤
Please don't hold it against Charlotte... any horse can spook. That's a risk all riders take. But I do hope that she is treated well and has found a kind, loving home.
DONT GIVE THEM THE HORSE!!!!!!
To the Amish? NOOOO.
Transportation doesn't seem to be the problem. Amish would be my last choice, dude😢
On a different note---Maurine has become quite the Cowgirl during her time in Arizona! It will be sad to say good-bye. All your Equestrians (just about) are leaving.
I smashed the like button after reading the coordinated troll comments. 😂❤
Troll comments? Have you ever seen the horses the Amish send to auction? I have and it's horrendous. Many have conditions that could have been fixed with vet care, but they let them go until they absolutely can't work anymore and throw them away.
❤
Looks like another successful re-homing. Praying the horses will adjust to the winters there
Bye Moreen and Charlotte we will miss you both.
BAWLING LIKE A BABY, watching Maurine riding Charlotte for the last time. 😭😭😭😭😭.
I live in Michigan. Charlotte will probably be a buggy horse. The Amish do not own motor vehicles. Some do use tractors, but the larger percentage use draft horses to plow and do other farm chores.
I'm definitely gonna miss Charlotte and seeing Maurine sitting in the saddle.
Not to the Amish
Please go to Golden Spur rescue to see what the Amish do to horses 🥺🥺
I wouldnt let any of my animals go to the Amish , that includes horses, dogs , cats , that animals in most cases end up being worked until they cannot because of old age or injury then they end up in auctions then to slaughter in Mexico or Canada ......
I have to agree with those who are shocked that you would sell to the AMISH! They are so hard on their horses and do not hesitate to send them to the auction to be shipped to Canada and slaughtered for meat. SO, SO disappointed you would do this!
You must be a little sad to see Marine go. I would bet that Marine is a bit sad to part from Charlotte. They have been a good team!
The 21 year old Paint mare is very pretty. I’m glad she will have a good home for her last days.
So i guess you dont wanna sell a horse back to a navajo person that has ask afew times for a horse . Jus say you dont wanna sell to a navajo
the best horse will spook, I have happen to me many times , you just don't know. does not make it a bad horse, could have been a snake. I am glad that she is ok. I just though you would send the horse with her.
I have Amish friends here in Indiana . They are great with the horses.
Thank you!
Life with Josh and Sarah Videos Do the Amish abuse their horses? Yes and No
Charlotte was a sweetheart... always ... You gave up on her after an incident in which you don't have any idea what actually happened.... ???
So much for loyalty and devotion on your part !
Now, letting Charlotte go to who knows where, to who knows who, to be used fir who knows what ? . I cannot believe that you're in the horse business and have no knowledge of how the Amish treat their work horses and the only horses they have are work horses; especially since you buy many of your horses at auction.
I am feeling so disgusted at your callousness right now... Actually believing that your smoith talk is going to smooth over the reality.
💖 So happy Lady found an awesome retirement home! 💖
It's sad to see Charlotte go but she's young and has alot to offer a new owner! It'll be a great life for her! 💖
Unfortunate decision for both horses. A geriatric, arthritic mare would do better in a warmer climate and Charlotte is going to an uncertain future. Unfortunately the Amish don't use phones so you can't talk to her new owner to see what kind of home Charlotte is going to and how she will be used. Not every Amish family abuses horses. However, Charlotte is such a good mare and a lot of time, effort, love and training was invested in her so it's surprising you are willing to let her go when you know little or nothing about who her new owners are. Very disappointing.
What has happened to Charlotte? Did you send her to the Amish?
Alan I saw some of the Live the other day. You telling us about Mareen and her accident. Where did this Paint horse Lady come from there hasn't been a video about this horse? Alan has Lex had her foal yet?
Not yet
Amazing how things work out!
Don’t send her to the Amish. It will be a terrible end.
I'm going to miss Marine and Scarlett. Scarlett and Marine were one!
Please don't send them to the Amish! Just don't.
Glad the Horses 🐎 are getting good homes. Sorry to see Marin leave but I sure she glad to go home to her Family and Friends. Will miss seeing her and watching her ride. She Beautiful young woman. Bye-bye will miss you.
