As a side note my elderly neighbour, is 73 and in poor health, as a consequence of our chatting it turned out he was very worried. @xx3868 Před měsícem +6

    Reason.. they go "scary" on these letters is they know they cant enforce it as they cant see what you are watching unless you tell them or let them in. So if the letter wrote you cant watch live tv LEGALLY without a licence, please buy one, people will know they can do it anyway. They cant detect you watching live TV, so their hands are tied and like the Police in the US Not able to "demand" ID without arrest, they push you into giving it against the law threatening with arrest if you dont give ID. In court defendant always winds a lawsuit. UK cant do anything with this licence mess now but send out letters and doorstops to get you to admit you are watching live tv without the licence. shut the door and theres nothing they can do by the law...

    I'll just continue to ignore them and not give them my money and simply not go through the pointlessness of filling out a form.

    With the list of categories for needing a TV licence such as CZcams Netflix including commercial broadcasting companies that you can watch on a smart phone or PC, they still say you require a TV licence, such ambiguity should be illegal as it's nothing to do with the BBC, you are right, they will continue to strike fear into the public with the backing of the government through the back door avenue to pay up even when you don't need a licence, totally disgraceful.

Tip... make sure you don't use iplayer either, and make sure you do open letters from the state about voting etc to make sure you tick boxes for keeping your name off the visible electoral roll, so they can't address you by name

  • @clivewilliams3661
    @clivewilliams3661 Před 10 dny

    We bought a property 25 years ago, where we have never used a TV or watched i-player. We notified them that we didn't require a TV license from the outset but 2 years later they started sending the letters that ramp up the threats to a peak and then subdue back to the original letter to start the whole process off again. Since then and therefore for the past 23 years, all their (black and red) letters go in the bin. We have never seen a hint of any TV Licensing investigation officers in all that time and had they carried out due diligence they could have known that the property is unoccupied.
    As the BBC have franchised out the collection of moneys to Capita aka TV Licensing, it is in Capita's interest to maintain the flow of letters to justify their fee, whereas I suspect the BBC would have long since realised the futility of attempting to pursue us and given up.
    The stupidity in all this is that the TV License fee seems to most that it only applies to TV, whereas it supports that vast array of local, national and international radio services that we should be rightly proud of. In many countries the BBC World Service for example, is well respected and for many it is the only reliable independent service available, particularly for unbiased news. We pay the license fee on our main home as much for the support of the radio services that most of us listen to, as for our dwindling home TV viewing.
