  • It's time for the plastic gears to go! They're loud and weak! This video is a detailed installation guide for replacing your mini mill's plastic gears with a belt drive system from little machine shop. The Sieg X2D is a great sized mill for knife making; and these modifications make it really nice to use! Cheers! 🙌

Thanks for the video. I broke my upper plastic gear, but still removed the whole head to remove unnecessary parts, gears etc. I filled any holes in the head with plastic plugs to keep out debris. The mill runs MUCH quieter and smoother with the belt drive. Although without the gear breakage I most likely would not have made the change. Still I think it was great move. Thanks again.

I have had my Grizzly mini-mill for well over 15 years and have yet to strip the gears. I bought a spare gear set from Grizzly at the same time, since even back then it was the most talked about repair. Knock on wood I don't have to do this repair, but the belt replacement is on my list. I save this one CZcams video just in case. I thank you

I installed my belt drive system today. Your video and informative narrative was a big help. Unfortunately the drive gear on the motor didn’t slide off easily like your video. I had to fabricate a gear puller to get the dang thing off! After that, it was an easy day. Well done video and thanks!

Hey Nick, I feel you man. Sneak peak here for you and anyone who reads this comment..... I'm going to be doing a head to head comparison between this harbor freight Seig X2D and the Little Machine Shop Seig X2D (3990 high torque) in the coming weeks. The LMS version has some very nice upgrades compared to the models from Grizzly, HF, Klutch, Wen, etc... So if you have time to wait.... that's coming. Cheers man.

I did the same thing with my Grizzly G0704 but I had to make my own belt drive kit as all the kits that exist increased the RPM. my mill already had zero torque below 1000 rpms so I made it's new max rpm around 1200 rpm. I could then run larger drill bits and small taps without it stalling out constantly. Overall it look like a nice kit!

For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.
16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:14-21
