- The first days of Summer are fast approaching, and this week we’re heading to Lake Tahoe’s Sand Harbor...lovingly referred to as the "jewel of Tahoe."
Sand Harbor is known for its crystal clear water, sandy beaches, and beautiful rock formations. Two ramps are located at Sand Harbor and are perfect for water skiers, fishermen, and boats to launch from. The waters of Sand Harbor are wildly popular for swimming, scuba diving, and snorkeling.
The southern section of Sand Harbor is perfect for children and swimmers with its sandy shores, and the northern section is great for exploring the giant rocks and boulders. In the Summer months the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival brings live theater to the waters edge. Make sure to stroll the Sand Point Nature Trail...it’s less than half a mile, wheelchair accessible, and it leads to Sand Point with stunning mountain and Lake Tahoe views.

I just went there
I have some info. It is never a good idea to visit any popular vacation attraction on a holiday weekend! It can be very stressful and can take away from the beauty of what you had hoped to see. Just my opinion.

How busy was it? We are heading there this weekend!
This is one of the most popular beaches in Tahoe. I arrived before the gates opened so I’d be one of the first people inside, I had about an hour when it was very quiet (my favorite time) but on weekends the gate can actually close when Sand Harbor reaches full capacity before noon. This is a beautiful place but I’d expect it to be a bustling if you’re visiting during the summer. Hope that helps.
@@flyingdawnmarie Thank you! We visited last summer and couldn’t get in because it was packed, but we went in July. Hopefully it’s not as busy right now
@@themccurryjourney summers are definitely popular here! If you really want to make sure you get into the park I’d advise arriving by the time the gates open in the morning (especially on weekends because people will arrive 30+ minutes before Sand Harbor opens and just wait for it to open) I always love my time here though, so I think it’s worth it. 😉 I hope you have a wonderful time in Tahoe!
