One of Drew's best qualities is his contagious laughter.
It always feels so pure, I can't help but laugh too.
"Dear Drew, are you gonna steal anything from Craig's set to take back to The Price is Right?"

It's so nice to hear that theme again. I've been watching so many of your vids instead of old shows that I'd almost forgotten about the theme song.
There's so many niceties of Craig's approach that you immediately notice when it's someone else: how close he sits to the guest, how engaged he is with them, how well he keeps the crowd energized, etc. He didn't seem to have any nervous ticks while hosting (Drew has his hand up the entire time while giving the monologue, and repeatedly smacks the desk during emails).
It's no secret Craig used the awkward, dead spaces in between moments to his advantage, often stewing in them purposely with a mischievous smile or sighing as if he had nothing else. Without that approach, Drew has to dance around those lulls and it ends up being... actually kind of awkward. No disrespect to Drew, he did a great job being funny and genuine, but boy it really highlights what a maestro Craig was.
To be fair to Drew, Craig had many years of interviews under his belt by then and had time to master his craft. I'm sure Drew could make a good show too but filling in is just a heavy thing to do. He's nervous too but its not really telling. I do wonder how much influence he had on the monologue. I do think Drew can be a good host though. Probably more interesting than Corden.
Also I think the biggest difference is Geoff. The new dude just doesn't have it as the character he's setting up.
Why don't you compare this to Craig's first show, which was also kinda awkward.

Came here after watching The Price Is Right episode that Craig hosted. They we're both great but Craig was truly a natural at hosting Drew's show!
I'm not usually a fan of Drew, but I gotta say, this was thoroughly entertaining.

This vid just underlines how much better Craig is at this. Actually, Craig's The Price is Right performance did not convince me much either - he couldn't bring his irony and wit to the show.
Preferred User they're just different skillsets. Drew really grew into the role of a price is right host where warmth and fun energy are the key. Barker left big shoes of endearing and genuineness.

I know this is from a decade ago, but I wish Drew got to make jokes like these with/about contestants (but tamer versions, because daytime) on TPIR more often, instead of being forced to rush through each game. It would make that show more fun. You know, like Bob got to do, but with Drew's sense of humor.

Drew is a fine t.v host and a good interviewer, just ask good questions and let the guest speak.

If Drew Carey went into the talk show business he would have kept his talk show the same format like the same theme song, the house band, and even with some changes like the set and segment changes, the format would mostly be the same from it’s debut in the late 80’s early 90’s

Would this originally have been broadcast over 1 hour? So in the US, normally 40% of an hour-long show is ads/commercials? It must be very annoying to watch TV in real time, or maybe you are used to it and think nothing of it. In Ireland, it's a maximum of 12 mins of ads per hour.
Sira Mea things are cut out from the show like the theme song and clips so it would 've been a little longer

It's about the same as Ireland, this clip has been edited like +M Sj said. It's normally between 12-15 mins depending how long the episode runs for.

Unpopular opinion here: I think Drew did a better job on TLLS than Craig did on TPIR. They're both outside their comfort zones in terms of scripting and show structure, but Drew's polished act, great audience connection and warm personality expands better into being a talk show host than Craig's dry wit, flawless comedic timing and improvisational mastery does to running a game show.

Music rights. I was surprised they even showed what they did. With Ferguson clips, it goes straight from the introduction to them sitting at the desk.
