RIGHT! I’m so glad I stumbled upon one of the compilations of his appearances on The Late Late Show a few years ago- I had no clue Larry King was funny! But he and Craig had some incredible comedic chemistry, didn’t they?
He did absolutely amazing! I laughed my ass off and so did everyone there + the guy was really brilliant and seemed like he took the advice if he didn't have something nice to say he wouldn't say anything at all.
dunno if anyone gives a shit but if you are bored like me atm then you can stream all the latest movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Been watching with my brother for the last weeks :)
Larry was right, Craig deserved better. So unfortunate that mainstream america didn't understand him, didn't really "get" Craig's personality. He could have played it safe by being just like the rest but I enjoyed him more because he did his own thing and didn't care about winning awards and just wanted us to enjoy ourselves. James Corden could never compare to this man.
Just to stick up for James a bit: James Corden DOES his own thing, it's just that his thing happens to correlate well with the mainstream. Craig is better than James, but you can find worse than James as a show host (hell, Letterman had a show for 30 years or something, and he's the worst fucker that ever was on TV, just the worst.)
+SomeNiceMovies Dave was a pioneer, you have no idea what you're talking about. Being great is taking a risk, being original and people still liking it, not regurgitating the same formula. Craig was awesome because he was different but he also had a quickness of thought that is not common with all comedians. Craig was a breath of fresh air, James Corden is a good presenter, a good actor, singer, energetic and funny in his own way but he is no talk show host, the talk part is a skill mastered by very few. Carson is the standard of course in that regard. Jimmy Fallon is the best Corden can ever become, he's very similar, extremely talented and versatile guy but the talking part with the guests he just lacks.
I'd say Corden's better at it than Fallon. I still don't understand Fallon's appeal. But, back to the main point... Craig did it better than anyone else. In all seriousness, his approach to the show was fantastic and unlike anyone before or since.
Craig was the best late night talk show host ever in my opinion. He was incredible. The problem wasn't that Americans didn't get him. CBS didn't get him and never gave the show any real promotion. Most people never knew the show was there. You could watch CBS all day and never see an ad for Craig's show. Even Letterman ended his show and never threw to Craig--even though the show was up next. When people actually SAW Craig, they liked him.
You can see how happy Craig was when they had to take the first break. When the camera is panning back above the audience before cutting to commercials, you can see Craig running over to where Larry is and you can see how excited he was and I'm sure he went over to quickly tell Larry how great this bit is going and to keep doing whatever he is doing because it's working perfectly.
"I like chocolate, milk chocolate, I know dark chocolate is in but- you didn't want, you didn't want this did ya? You didn't want a robot who thinks...You didn't want someone who creates of his own mind. No. I like milk chocolate."

The great Larry King passed away today. With a 63 year career, spanning radio, tv, internet, and robot sidekick, this may very well be his magnum opus. RIP Larry King. He liked Milk Chocolate.
@@wanpakudanpu You dont think of Larry King as being funny when you know of him from his CNN show because you think of him as a serious substantive interviewer and journalist. Craig just knew how to get Larry into a comedic mood.
"I was there for the primaries about.... 12 years ago" Craig's face after he said that was amazing, he realised at that exact moment the power he had unleashed lmfao
Craig's tweeted this video remembering Larry King. A legendary and memorable moment indeed from a broadcasting legend who rightfully respected and liked Craig. Rest in Peace, Larry King
Same here 😥 I had stopped watching late night talk shows in the 90s and i didnt really follow the genre since. Then a couple yrs ago clips of Craigs antics started showing up in my feed and i was hooked. Id still have cable if this show existed today. The guy is just the king of charisma
Larry King was so cool and gracious here. For some one of his stature to do a bit like this shows how unpretentious he is. He get's it, and isn't taken with himself.
I realized one thing about Craig during his "farewell tour" kind of year: He cannot accept compliments. Anytime someone would say how great he is or how missed he will be...he turned it into a joke and change the subject.
Maximus decimus meridius Especially given his history, I'd say it's his somewhat depressive personality. Self-deprecation is a very easy coping mechanism. He also talks about his Scottish upbringing sometimes, and how heavily emphasised being humble was, so that probably has a lot to do with it.
Tom Cadogan Agreed. I read his book and he has a pretty sordid past. My guess is that he feels extraordinarily lucky to be where he is and probably feels somewhat guilty about his success. He understands that some people work hard all their life and do all the right things and don't have half the success to show for it.
On the Pete Holmes podcast, when asked about one thing in his life that made Craig laugh the hardest (something Pete asks all of his guests), he mentioned this. Which made me so, so happy.
+TheKeithelliott I agree, his show would bomb at the earlier slots because people are expecting a certain type of content, but at late night, no one cares so he can do whatever he wants and he has the freedom to actually do it. Other shoes have to play it safe for ratings and to try to get emmy nominations. :/
I think a lot of people would have appreciated his comedy if they had known he was on. I only found his show by accident, as did many of his fans in the US. The ordinary person "got" his comedy and thought he was hilarious. It's CBS that didn't get it. They marginalized his show and kept it from getting the ratings it could have gotten if they would have supported it. Got to blame Letterman for some of that too. Craig's show followed Letterman's and not ONCE did he even say "Stay tuned for the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson," or whatever. Don't get me started.
I loved Larry’s appearances on the show. Larry and Craig had such a delightful relationship, and it was always hilarious watching him react to all the wackiness. Rest in peace Larry King.
