I own a 2018 1025r and my tractor inspires me to work in my yard every night I have the chance. I work 10 hours a day, five days a week (even through the COVID-19) and I have "small" projects I set myself up for each night. moving skids filled with fire wood, moving the tree I cut down, pulling a bush out, filling in the hole the bush left when I pulled it out. I'm not afraid of shovel work, but owning a sub compact tractor inspires me, on a daily basis, to tackle projects and get things done in my yard. This is just two cents from a very happy sub-compact tractor owner. Also, love the videos from GoodWorksTractors. When I'm not moving dirt or firewood with my "little" tractor, I'm watching GoodWorksTractor videos on CZcams. Keep up the good work. Happy subscriber here. Cheers from southern Ohio!

Smart use of inheritance money (from my mother), not just "blowing it" on something frivolous or fleeting, but "investing it" into something that will serve us well (especially to take care of the land we inherited from her father) for the rest of our lives -- that was the "win-win" bottom line for us. Now, if only there wasn't this guy on CZcams that made such compelling arguments for buying this implement and that tool (etc.). Oh, wait -- that would be... never mind!

It was easy here - 5A site, 4A of actual lawn, with 200'+ paved driveway and no trees to stop the snow blowing/drifting in.. Plus, a garden that's about 60X120 AND another 100' gravel drive from the pole shed makes having a tractor around a total necessity.. I use a '15 JD 3039R with tiller, snow blower, 72" Woods finishing mower, H165 FEL, back blade, box blade, 60" brush mower etc... I use it nearly every day and wouldn't be without it.

The biggest justification for me for buying a SCUT was driveway maintenance. Not just to save money -- because really, $22 grand will grade my driveways many, many times -- but the fact that it got to where I could not GET anyone to come do the work. It has gotten SO hard to find people who are willing to work and are reliable. So I bought a tractor to do that -- and help my local friends do that. But once I had it WOW, I found so many ways for it to make my life easier, digging, lifting, moving, carrying, pulling, loading/unloading. I don't have a large food plot and in Tennessee I don't have much snow to deal with. But many people in the discussion forums do. This tractor is the BEST tool investment I've ever made.

As a matter of fact, I just did the figures last night. I've just completed the first 20 hours on my JD 2025 R yesterday. After factoring my payment, fuel and maintenance ($340.00 per month roughly), I saved over $1,300.00 my 1st month of ownership compared to if I hired someone to do all the work I've done. This is based only off the hours on the machine only. Add in my hours of manual labor (e.g. weed wacking, hand planting, lite trimming etc. items the tractor doesn't do.) I'm saving lots. I'd never pay what I'm saving for someone else to do. Couldn't afford it anyway.

He pulled the kids then grands on a tabogon in the winters and plowed the a really long driveway and worked up the garden and ran a buzz rig off the belt. Dad had an A till gramps had to move from the farm ground and mom n dad bought the 520 from gramps. We cut firewood and use the tractor to haul it and you get your vechicle stuck on your property or near home dont call a wrecker yank it out yourself. I take the tractor to 3 local demo derbies and haul wrecks out and then 1 tractor show a year that all 3 generations have been too

Without a doubt, one of the best investments a person can make. First suggestion would be to purchase when young, my body would not be in it's current shape if I'd of had a tractor back then. And, when age sets in, your tractor will allow you to keep doing what needs to be done without needing to pay somebody to do it. Front end loader is a must. Haul firewood, trash, dirt, sacks of fertilizer to the garden, move anything that's heavy. I've hauled refrigerators, washing machines, car engines and such items that we can't muscle into the back of a pickup anymore. We're both approaching 70, & we use ours every day. Pallet forks are a must. In our auto repair business, we replace many in-tank fuel pumps. On pickups, we remove the bed bolts on the driver's side, & loosen the passenger side bolts. Slide the forks between the bed & frame, pick up the bed with the front end loader, there's the pump. 30 minute job, easy peazey. So many uses, wish we'd of got it 40 years ago.....

Yup . Five years ago, it took me 25 years to make that list to convince my wife to get a tractor. Soon after having purchased the tractor and putting it to work, my wife said, "we should have gotten this 25 years ago". In just a few weeks the 1025r will be physically paid off. That said, fiscally, the 1025r has already paid for itself and then some.

That's my problem. I retired last year and and own a JD A, B, 730D, 40, 755, and and a x530 mower. I have 8 acres with hills so a 4x4 is a must. I would like something with a bucket and a cab because my grandchildren love tractor rides. What do I trade or sell? Putting a loader on my 20 hp 755 costs $4000 and I'm concerned what it might do to it!

  • @blackhawkinternationalsecu6962

I had a big project, widening the driveway "ramp" across the swag. Contractor wanted half the price of a new John Deere 1023E, $8k. Now, I have my new 1023E and I made the project bigger, better, and to my liking. The concrete tile and fill dirt cost less than a grand.
AND, AND, AND there are so many times and ways that tractor has helped, I don't see how I have lived this long without one. From maintaining my driveways, to my wife lifting me up in the bucket to clean the gutters or change lighting, to pulling up stumps, brush removal, ... yeah, long list. Big time force multiplier!!! Can't live without one now. Worth every penny!!!

Actually my doctor recommended that I get a tractor, as the work I was doing around the place was taking a big toll on my aging body. When asked recently what one thing she regretted not doing earlier in life, my wife responded, "buying a tractor". We use the loader all the time and much of what I once did by hand is now done more quickly using the tractor. The only down side seems to be that I don't rent equipment to do specialized tasks--such as an excavator--when I should and try to do every job using the tractor on hand.

After herniated a disc doing firewood, I'd made up my mind I was gonna by a tractor with a loader and if I had it to do again, I'd buy a used clean tractor, should've done abit more time into sizes, I bought one that was a great little tractor, but wasnt quite big enough to do all I wanted,so after 2 years,I traded it back to the Dealer, now I've got a 3039 R John Deere, a new one,but wish I bought a used one to begin, but not gonna cry now, love it,if I ever sell mine,in buying one from Good Works Tractor,

dont know if i could offer words of wisdom to justify a tractor, but i for sure couldnt justify a zero turn mower.

Don't forget to tell her that you can use a tractor to move your Bass Boat and Camping Trailer around so she won't have to help you guide it in when you move them with the truck.

Having some land that you tend is always a good excuse. There's economy in buying a good used tractor. We bought a 2000 JD 4600 with 1200 hours on it. Other than faded plastic its like new.

A tractor purchase is justified because it’s immediately tax deductible in Australia plus in the farming I’m getting into, right now they are harvesting over $15K of nuts in two days.

The only justification that I needed was understanding the average male lifespan in the United States. What do you want to do with your life? Why wait? Nobody is promised tomorrow. I'm not saying do something foolish but if you have the urge to get a tractor start a business or just have it for your personal use just do it. Absolutely without a doubt just do it. Nobody has promised tomorrow live your life right now. Now everybody be safe out there.

Me too. I have 7 acres myself. I tried to clear the land by hand for the first few years. Realised that was impossible, unless you're the warden of a prison and have access to a chain gang. Never again will I try such a superhuman endeavor.

Honey I need this tractor because:
    1. It is my reward for marrying the most beautiful woman in the world :)
    2. Your Mother would want me to have it :)
    3. Look at all the work that I can do :)
4.I will be able to save so much time doing chores around the yard that I will be able to help more doing house work :)
    5. I intend to name the tractor after you: see #1 :)
    6. I will spend more time around the house and less golfing :)
You get the picture! Best wishes
