I was literally thinking the same thing, one more hitch and you got everything you need. Well done and we’ll thought out.
Thanks for giving me another project to start..great video
Wish I was there. When you showed the box I was thinking, hey, put a couple more tubes in that thing. Oh well. It’s a great rig anyway!
Lol hindsight is 20/20...
Hi, Andrew! Great video. Mr. Thinker Tinkerer is busy as always. Your mind must stay in overdrive. Ruger is a handsome boy. His fur looks so shiny and soft.
You don't like grabbing a front bucket load and feeling the rear tires lift! LOL. Nice setup. I saw @Rockhillfarmandhomes video too.
Mine doesn't lift regardless with water filled tires. It does get light enough to spin the tires though.
The ultimate "Thinkerer, Tinkerer". Another awesome project as usual. I think all of us were thinking just like Cash when he said to put a hitch on that! I hope Vevor is paying you a consultant and promotional fee.
Sadly no, I do get a product for free and mainly do it to make engaging content. It's probably time I start charging 🤔🤔
Clark & Deborah:
Andrew once again another Great DIY video 👏 👏 👏 👏.
The add-on are endless. Well done 👍 👌
Thank you for watching
Nice set up! A complete game changer, I was able to max out my front loader capacity. I filled mine with washed stone just in case I ever wanted it empty. We have a sawmill and it allows me to pick up and move larger logs and lumber after it is cut and stacked.
You need to add one of those giant 5-10 gallon water coolers to the ballast box, on the side with the tool tubes, since the chainsaw holder is on the other side. Add an L bracket to the box that the cooler sits on and have it attached by 2 L eyelet brackets to the side such that a ratchet like strap can wrap around the water container.
A lot of great ideas
That box will come in really handy for your tractor.
Toss in an outdoor kitchen/tent holder and you can stay out in the woods all weekend.... :) I don't see a ice water cooler holder though!
Coming soon 😬
Nicely done, Andrew! I may have to get me one of those when I add a 3rd function and a grapple to my Kioti.
I won't need to take off a rear tire to add the 3rd function on my tractor, but I will need to if I want to add a 2nd rear remote. Seeing you take off the filled rear tire in your 3rd function video is giving me some confidence about being able to do the same. I'll probably have my son (he is 27 and built like a football player) give me a hand with it.
Take care and God Bless.
Go slow and keep the tire close to the ground, you'll be OK.
I have the same box, it's 5 cu ft and at 150 lbs per cube that's 750 lbs of concrete and about 75 lbs of box, so your probably good. Dry concrete has a lighter weight than hardened concrete.
Basically a DIY Big Tool Rack. Much less expensive too:)
And heavier for ballast... I do love their tool rack though
I agree, and much more configurable...That "Big Tool Rack" looks ridiculous without much thought into organization, and way too expensive to even consider....that ballast box is so easily configurable since its steel, you can weld on it, cut on it, etc. and configure it however you want.
Well done 👍
AWESOMESAUCE!!!! DIY at its finest!
Sweet finished set up Andrew. Cash had a great idea!
Yeah he did! Thanks for watching
Howdy Mr Doug 🤫🤫🤫🤫 I did no such thing. I only gave my opinion 🤷🏽♂️.
I'm back!
And 1st!
It's starting to become comical how much variety of stuff vevor carries! 😂
Congratulations 👏🎉.... LoL 😆
@cash5150 thank ya kind sir!
Where have you been?
Told yall they carry EVERYTHING!
@@TKCL you were not exaggerating! 🤣🤣
The Titan ballast box is already black. I was able to get a full seven 80 lb bags of concrete by tamping between each bag.
Love this idea. I’ll do this once I get my tractor. Thanks Andrew!
Thank you for watching
Next thing you know, there's a fridge and a grill so you can have some hot meal with cold drinks while cutting wood, LOL
I like your thinking lol
That’s pretty cool, plus it’s a metal box. You can just weld two even size metal boxes under the side of it and had more weight in the future if you want or you could weld them on and leave them empty and if they’re sealed on top you can fill it with water and just put a drain plug on the bottom so you don’t always have to have all the weight on. then you can have it be 500 pounds or 800 pounds. Waters about 8 1/2 pounds per gallon, I think it’s 8.6, so if you put 11 or 12 gallon size boxes on the side which would be about 12 x 12 x 20 I believe then you could just fill them with water or not fill them with water to add or remove A 2 or 3 hundred lbs whenever you want.
You could also weld a tab underneath, so you can keep the ballast on and still be able to hook up something you wanna drag like a drag harrow.
It definitely would’ve been cool to put some PVC into the concrete for a couple more holes or even stuck a 1x5” board down in there do you have put the chainsaw blade down into it to keep it centered, and a little more protected. (Excalibur😅). But you’ve got a big metal box and you can weld just about anything onto it. You could just take a few pieces of tube and make a rack and weld that right to the side and put a bunch of stuff in there. Maybe some bungee attachment points so you could strap your weedeater or whatever on there too.
Pretty cool
I am already thinking about the add on ideas. 🤔🤔
You are so talented. Great video and information.
Thank you Mrs Lee!
Good video as usual Andrew. I really enjoy your content. Thank you!! 👍👍❤️❤️. 🇨🇦
Thank you very much for watching
Excellent job 👍! That was my thought as well since the original seemed to have a lot of play and you still have the original small one for other purposes.
Nice setup... 🙂
That's so awesome!!!!
What.... Who was the dang person to make you work so much harder after completing such a awesome tool box 🤷🏽♂️👍🏽........ Ohh thanks for telling on me ... 🫣. LoL.. hey now it's a masterpiece 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Gee I wonder 🙄
@@TKCL Chris did it 🫣
@@5150cashlol but great idea for sure . Now he needs to add one on the back of the splitter to tote his bear rug around . Lol
@@JimmyHensley36 ahahaha 😜.... I think I just peed a little 😆🤣
@@5150cash lol we waiting on Andrews reply now
Andrew when you added the end cut I thought you were going to add a cushion liner in basket for Ruger.
Lol he can walk
Love it!!!!
You just as well go ahead and weld you a couple tubes on the outside of the box so you can haul a rake, shovel or any other number of things as well being your going to paint it black lol. Even carry your umbrella along with you to set up.
It's been a popular suggestion 🤔
That was a really good idea Cash. Nice setup Andrew. I have been debating on putting concrete in my ballast box. Think I will now add it to my to do list.
It's the best way to get full weight capacity.
I'd just put sand or gravel in it, that way you can dump it out if need be, or if you ever had to move it by hand you'd certainly need to empty it out.
You could always weld a tube on outside of box or rack for more tool storage or to store the hitch handy
Sure can, excellent idea.
@@TKCL or consider the 2 existing tubes as a mounting system. any rack any configuration, with 2 smaller pipes that slide into those tubes as the mount
@@hammerslap5639 I was about to tell him the same thing . Lol great idea
Another great idea! I like that one.
Was going to suggest that very thing also! Maybe some metal loops or tie down points to strap something down or pull a chain with.
I was thinking the same add on thing for towing before you did your extended video add on. You can always weld a tube on the outside of the box for extra tools carriage if you need. Maybe a whole box on the backside for extra implements you may want to add for in the future.
I agree that's a good idea.
I have an idea, consider those 2 tubes as a mounting point sorta. you could mount any number of different racks, tool boxes, extra weight if needed, anything. you said you wish you had an additional tube for tools. what if you made a rack, and the rack had 2 tubes that slid into those tubes as the mounting system. but the rack could have as many tool tubes as tall as you wanted on em. Nice thing would be the rack could be removed any time you didnt want/need it on there just by sliding it up.
I like the way you think!
@@TKCL the best part is, its infinitely configurable, only limit is your imagination.
Add a IBC frame on the forks and you could process, stack, and bring the wood back to the house all in one go.
Nice vid, I did something very similar but made the receiver with an extra tube for the carrier to slide into so it’s above the tongue of the spliter
Cool idea
Great idea's
Thank you for watching
That is awesome Andrew. I can't wait for that mean grappler to do some work. I'll be looking forward to that video. Oh yeah, Ruger is getting big.
He sure is!
You can weld more metal tubes to the outside of the box, or any other attachment you need.
Sure can
I have the same ballast box. I really like it. The only thing is I lost the box when it shifted sideways and bent the thin keepers that came with it. I changed them out to one's I could use the larger 1/4" pins.
I do like the pins that take lynch pins.
Damn. That’s really something.
Your rooster sounds happy 🐓
Lol yeah he's not bullied all day now.
beef it up so you can pull your water trailer hahaha! just kidding bud! very nice work!
Yeah that be asking way too much from it.
That's the problem with having friends, always causing you more work. LOL Take care.
Right!
Well you've got yourself a nice setup. All you need is a little refrigerator and a hotdog stand and your set. 😂
Coming soon! 🤣
Don't tease Andrew with that kind of idea!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Ref: A 3rd hole for tools.
If you have access to a coring bit you can still add that third hole or attach an external pipe for another tool holder. 😊
I'm thinking weld on something or make something to slide into those pipes as a viewer suggested.
Nice I plan on getting one of these also because you are right a bush hog or disc is to long for working and turning in the woods with a grapple. I just bought a new 4066R and trying to figure out some place to mount a tool box for carrying just a few basic tools when I head out in the woods. I made the front loader tube PVC pipe thing but it just doesn't hold much. You got a video on that project? Hint, Hint.🙂
I've been looking at that for years, it's almost impossible to find a good place on that tractor for a toolbox.
@@TKCL You have that ballast box now, its a nice large toolbox. Problem is you have to take it off when you hookup an implement....and tractors with cabs are even harder to find toolbox spots....putting them anywhere presents its own set of problems LOL. I don't have a toolbox on my tractor, but I only have an acre, anything I need is in walking distance back to the toolbox.
I was literally about to make the same comment to add a hitch to the basket
Wish granted!
Some of those baskets come with a receiver in them already...he just got the cheap one LOL. Some of them fold up too but I don't think they'd be all that sturdy in that type of setup.
Seeings how the tank is steel you could always weld some more pipe to the outside for more tool hauling ability seeings how you filled it with concrete then thought about more storage. You sure come up with some work smarter not harder ideas!!!
Very good point about welding on pipe!
That's a sweet set-up. There's one thing missing though. Some way to bring back all the firewood you processed and split back in the woods. LOL...put a tote on wheels and haul behind the log splitter😂😂
🤣
LOL, he'll have a train behind him if he keeps going, completely defeating the purpose of the ballast box VS an implement for ballast HAHA!!!
Ruger kept photo bombing your video. Got pretty distracted by how big, sleek and healthy your pup is looking! Had to rewatch parts of the vid.
He sure is getting big!
Andrew what kind of fence posts are you planning on using when you eventually build your pasture fence?
Metal t post with wood every so often to strengthen the fence.
weld a rail around the top and you could easily throw a gas tank and some saw oil in without using the hitch
Sure could, good idea!
Say Andrew, I see it has been 5 months since you posted this video and I'm wondering how the ballast box is holding up? Any problems with welds or brackets? Do you find it provides enough weight as is or do you still need to add more? Thanks, I'm going to go watch more of your videos now. 😎
I fell in a hole a while back that really Jarred the tractor around. It knocked me out of the seat and my drink out of the cup holder. When that happened it did bend one of the three point arms on The Ballast Box. I was able to easily bend it back but I think I am going to weld in a reinforcement there. Other than that there has been zero issues with it and it's hard to beat for the price. It really does help, but at times I do wish I had another 300lbs on the back.
@@TKCL maybe you could weld a bracket on each side and hang some suitcase weights.
I'd really like to reinforce all connection points before attempting that.
👍🏽👍🏽
You ever considered hitting up Pats quick hitch to send you a demo ? Work great on my 4066R, I never will go without them on any small tractor. You would sell thousands for them.
Don't you still have to get out and hook up the top link with those? Not sure it would help me, especially with some custom built equipment I have.
Yes still have to hook up the top link, but once you get used to them, they make things much easier, even with the fender back up on the 4066 it is faster and easier. And what I like about them most is I feel they are more versatile than a standard quick hitch on various implements. They work on all of my implements, and it’s many of them. Just leave a washer and pin on each implement. Also several of my heavy implements attach with a straight bar on each side in place of pins (stronger b/c supported on each side vs pin only one side). Just back up, lift and click the arms in place, hook up top link and go. I think you’d like them once got used to them. Plus some possible commission I’d think.
@@TKCL Yep...that's why I got a regular quick hitch. The only thing with a quick hitch is you still have to get off and hookup the PTO shaft, but that's much easier than trying to get pins aligned with holes on the hitch arms.
Since I have a sub-compact tractor I don't even need to get off the tractor with the quick hitch to hookup non-PTO implements...I can reach the locking levers on the quick hitch from the seat. Those Pats quick hitch things are pretty pointless as you still have to fiddle with the top link.
Kubota did come out with a new PTO Quick Hitch recently, haven't seen one in action yet, but its a full on quick hitch with a quick connect PTO as well...I'm curious as to how the heck that's supposed to work on the implement side LOL.
Of course the stuff from vevor is very well priced. You get it for free
Sour way of looking at it, how about you go look at other big tractor online sellers for this exact same box. They are selling it for $449, while it's under $300 on Vevors website. Same identical unit, I do my homework before promoting something, suggest you do the same. Here's the link www.amazon.com/Titan-Category-Ballast-Point-Tractors/dp/B085DPWRJD/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=Titan+ballast+box&qid=1674694188&sr=8-3&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.18630bbb-fcbb-42f8-9767-857e17e03685
You should’ve put castors on bottom so you could push it around in shop when not in use
That's not taking up room in my shop, it's going under the pole barn.
👏👏 👀
Could you not weld another pip or two on the outside of the box
Sure can
All I can think of is the cow tipping in Cars.
? 🤔
Leave it to you to quadruple the usefulness of a tool!
Might as well right!
Watcha got going on the shop floor, project sneak peak?
Sure is! 😬 Let's just say it envolves the sun! 😉
Fusion reactor?
Flux capacitor
@@TKCL you need 1.21 gigawatts remember 🤷🏽♂️
Oreilly Auto has a Flux Capacitor on their website. Just saying.
Would it not be more versatile and practical to have a sprayer tank that doubles as a ballast box? I cannot see spending money on something that has a single function when you could clearly perform an additional task.
Not at all a single function
Put water in tires problem solved.
Guessing you didn't watch the video? 🤷
Nope didn't watch that part. I just have always used water and haven't had a problem. No shade intended. Good vid
I have it, discussed the weight and reasoning. John Deere won't install a loader without it for safety reasons.
What…nothing to pull the Woodmaxx in addition to the splitter?😂
Woodmaxx requires pto, so we would have to do some reverse engineering 🤔
@@TKCL Yeah, that would be something else if there was a way. Have you seen that Split-Fire woodchipper that Courtney @ Good Works Tractors has been using? It's got a back end of it so he can drag around his trailer.
@@TKCL Yeah, that would be something else if you could rig something up. Have you seen the Split-Fire woodchipper that Courtney @ Good Works Tractor has been using? It's got a hitch ball on the back of it so he can tow other things along with it. --Dave
No I have not seen that one.
I've got to disagree with you on one point, the factory welds on that thing are far from relatively decent. You're being far too kind.
They are adequate and the corners reinforced with square tubing. I weld almost weekly and feel confident that these will handle the 800lb load rating. That's also why I mentioned several times I wouldn't overload the hitch. I'd love to see more reinforced areas, but at under $300 you have to judge it for what it is.
His coat is awesome, really looks great.
like the video did a very good job.check out the BIG TOOL RACK see if you like that. be bless and love and safe.
Oh I've definitelyooked at their equipment 😍
Way too expensive for the disorganization that comes with it...nothing more than adding a small pickup type bed to your tractor...at an astronomical price.
