  • Koi Fish Johnny
Its the last part of the experiment to test the EA Nexus 220, Tempest and UV Light against the green pond water and Algae.
This is where I expected it to be crystal clear and to see everything. A nice look at the koi during the evening as the start to warm up and get more active by the day.
Its been one hell of a journey against the algae and green water. I have learnt so so so much and had some amazing advice from so many people. As part of this community so much good has come to my ponding skills so thank you.
The pond filters are still taking loads of muck out but it seems to grow faster than it is being removed.
Take care, stay safe and happy koi ing

The pond water is the same as in the jug it's just the amount that makes it look different. The actual filaments you refer to are not the results of the uv as they are a completely different algae. The green water you see isn't being removed by the tempest, it's just passing through, if you could see the outlet of the tempest you would see the same colour water. The single cell algae that a uv make clump together are actually invisible to the naked eye apart from in large numbers which you see as green water. Resolve will treat the filamtentous algae and the uv will treat the green water. 5000 ltrs an hour is a good flow rate on a 5000ltr pond as it will pass the entire pond volume through every hour, so a 10000 ltr pond would need a flow of 10000 ltrs an hour to achieve the same flow rate. Also don't worry about having a pump running 100% as they are "variable". Non variable pumps run at 100 % 24/7. Sorry for long comment😁

More flow the better in a koi pond. Whack it up to 100 if you can afford it. And if you think you've got too much flow going through the UV tap off of the main line put the UV on that loop with a tap on outlet. Not the inlet. Then reduce flow accordingly. 👍

I think you’re so lucky that type of algae you’re getting is not bothering your koi and making your ph sky rocket. When I had my green water problem during it’s first spring it wasn’t as graceful. Every pond is different but what I did was change lots of water, kept adding new filters, and filter out green water with filter floss. I also bought a new UV. But that was the last UV I’ve ever bought. Good luck mate. I’m very interested on whether this new clay will work.
