Oi, you. Go watch the Mystery F1 CZcamsr link. đ

After this!!
That's a good find. Not going to spoil it but you are brave linking to content like that. đ
Ay been a huge fan for years!! Appreciate the support Tommo đ«¶đŒ
Great video, but youâve spelt licence wrongâŠâŠ.
Best F1 videos on the internet!
Iâm surprised you didnât include Josef Newgarden, who has 90 points right now after three consecutive 2nd places in IndyCar (plus 2 championships before that). During all the Colton Herta drama last year, he started wearing a tshirt in the paddock that said âSuper License Eligibleâ. đđđ it was a heck of a flex and equally hilarious.
Probably cause he already talked about Josef in the "What if Andretti joined F1" vid. But yeah I was also half expecting to see him on the list
Scott McLaughlin is also super license eligible and they were trolling Colton and the FIA pretty hard on Bus Bros.
You just can't hate Josef can you đ
Well thatâs cause everyone knows he has a super licenseâŠ. it wouldnât make sense to put him in the video considering the title.
They posted a photo of them âasleepâ saying just two guys with full super lisenced points
I see no reason why Scott Dixon wouldnât be competitive in an F1 seat at 42. Indycar is just as physical as F1, the cars have no power steering and as Santino Ferrucci told me in an interview recently, the tracks are incredibly bumpy (he likened the new Detroit track to Baku with huge bumpsđ ).
Granted, itâs more shoulders than neck in Indycar compared to f1, but heâd be quick in anything he drives.
Cant forget the amount of money Williams were prepared to pay him back in 2008 for the f1 ride, but instead he decided to stay in indycar, and won the title and 500 in that same year instead!
The longevity of him and Fernando is impressive. I think modern day nutrition and physicality understanding is helping drivers go longer. I would assume the average retirement age is getting older in motorsport more generally, every year.
@@TommoOnCZcams I also think there is a mental aspect. With some athletes, you can tell when they're past their prime because the athletes themselves give off the vibe they are resigned to it and just wanna end it for retirement.
On the other hand, like with Alonso, whether he's past his prime or not, it doesn't feel like it because he always seems to be going for the win whether his car can or not
Imo Scott Dixon is just as good a driver as Fernando Alonso, both the greatest driver from their respective countries.
âââ@@TommoOnCZcams American motorsports has some good longevity examples apart from Scott Dixon.
Reigning champion Will Power is 40 and HĂ©lio Castroneves is still competitive at 47 and runs full-time.
Then in Nascar, as of now, 47 year old Kevin Harvick sits 3rd in the standings, having gone winless in just one season since 2010 and becoming champion in 2014
@@TommoOnCZcams Dixon is at the level of Hamilton if not higher
I think what really killed Schwartzmans career was how convincingly he got beaten by Piastri in 2021 in the same team, who was a rookie while Robert was in his second season
I would love to see how Tomoki Nojiri would do in the red bull at Suzuka, in an FP1 session.
Make it happen Red Bull please
I think RB Will give Liam that chance
100%. Heâd no doubt make the grade.
Missing Shane Van Gisbergen! Currently the man in V8 Supercars in Aus in a series where it is very difficult to secure the required Superlicence points!
SVG, great shout!
The Gis can drive anything, I'd fancy him in an F1 car!
In my option he is the most versatile driver on the planet. He is fast in everything the man gets in with its GT, Touring cars, Rally, Open wheel the list goes on
@@TommoOnCZcams He has the talent and passion in buckets and enough points but hasn't done the required 80% of 2 seasons in a nominated "Supplement 1" open wheeler category. But most of all it won't happen because he's 1.88 metres/6"2" tall and at last measurement I saw was over 90kg/200lbs- he's a big unit. Mercedes stuggles to get George's feet in the pedalbox would be nothing compared to trying to get SVG into a tub. It would be like McLaren trying to get Mansell into the MP4/10 tub in 95. Yes he drove in the NZGP in '21 but the Tatuus is a stretch limo by comparison.
@@TommoOnCZcams also Scott McLaughlin
If i was an F1 Team Principal, I would 100% put Nojiri into my car for a FP1, he's won Super Formula twice, a very underrated series so I think he does deserve a FP1 run
Especially given SF is closer to F1 than any other series
Or lawson
Shoutouts to Linus Lundqvist who doesn't have a seat in IndyCar but has enough super license points thanks to his 43 earned from a 1st and 3rd in Indy NXT / Lights and a 1st in Formula Regional Americas.
Madness, completely missed him.
I wish he made a sideways jump to F2. However, now Linus has an Formula E test for sure and maybe an Indy One. I don't know if the latter already happened or not.
@@mattiasgarbi9470 He tested at Texas with RLL a couple days after that oval race. đ
@@Yodsyo Vips tested for RLL too, didn't he?
@Mattia Sgarbi yup he did! Was at the spotters stand for RLL at Long Beach too, so he's been hanging around.
Honestly, I would love to see some IndyCar drivers become guest drivers at the Monaco Grand Prix running a third car, and vice versa some F1 drivers who have won in Monaco try their luck in Indy 500. That of course if at the top level both Stefano Dominicali (F1 Group President) and Roger Penske (owner of Indycar) come to an agreement.
Reason for this comment: Motorsports Triple Crown.
A one off, multi championship race, would be incredible. The top drivers from F1, Indycar, SuperFormula, Formula E, chucked together in a Formula 3 car or something. IMAGINE.
@@TommoOnCZcams in theory thatâs RoC surely?
I like the idea, but Monaco is a procession, not a race. Personally I would trade Monaco for Spa.
@@TommoOnCZcams Formula LIV
Unfortunately, 99% of the time those races run the same day. A couple years ago, Monaco was the weekend prior, but it ran concurrently with Indy 500 qualifying (yes its a separate weekend) where in some years cars are bumped out of the race (See: Alonso, Fernando)
I think Dixon could absolutely drive F1 successfully but no team in their right mind is going to take on a 41 year old rookie but it would have been good to see. Colton is the new Dixon so I hope he gets a chance at some point. It'd be nice to see two more teams on the grid so we could see this huge backlog of good young (and not so young drivers) drivers get their shot.
I'd love Haas to give him an FP1
@@TommoOnCZcams and then be part of the Andretti team in 2025/2026? Lol, I know it's unlikely but what's there to do on an off week but dream? Lol
Dixon has no motivation to go to F1. He's in one of the best Indycar teams, and is a threat to win every race. The Indycar schedule is shorter, and the travel is a lot easier. Why would he want to sit in a backmarker, fighting for scraps, when he can stay where he is and retire in a few years with at least one more championship and possibly the Indycar win record
Colton is far from the new Dixon Scotts driving style is so different itâs more like Alex palou
@@johnnyweaver9946 I think he's talking about outright success and future predicted success, not driving style lol
Iâve been watching Indycar since 2011 since I was 5 because of my dad and Dixon had always been my favorite. He has a very calm and safe approach to racing but can be aggressive when he needs. If Dixon got a chance in F1 today I do feel like he would be extremely competitive especially if given a fast car. And the idea of making a video on him is an amazing idea the story behind how he got into racing is so powerful and amazing to hear! Because of his story and how good he has always been he is and always will be my racing idol
Najiri and Yuki in a Honda would be epic...
Or chaotic
Inject it
I wish more Japanese drivers came over to Europe. It must be difficult to be the only person flying the flag for the nation.
It would take the pressure of the drivers and they could enjoy the racing more.
Naoki Yamamoto has 69 license points in his hand. He won Super GT & Super Formula in 2020 and two P3s in Super GT in seasons 21' and 22'. Little did we know, he had F1 driver test back in Suzuka 2019 with Toro Rosso and his overall test performance has impressed by the Toro Rosso's engineers.
I remember when Tony Stewart was encouraged to test for Formula 1 in the early 00's right after Jeff Gordon tested. It would have been a crazy opportunity to achieve what would have been the ultimate triple crown; A NASCAR Cup series, IndyCar and Formula 1 championship.
Getting him or Gordon would have been the door-opening moment for the American market that Formula 1 wanted so badly back then.
Interesting video, really enjoyed it. Also, I think Newgarden might have the most superlicense points for a driver who has not raced in F1. He has 90 super license points with 3 consecutive P2's in the Indycar championship.
Ooh yes, great shout. I weighed up between Dixon and Newgarden for this. Joseph has had more recent success so I elected for Scott
Josef is on track to at least match Dixonâs career success. Since joining TeamPenske in 2017, heâs won 2 championships, 23 out of 101 races, and 3 consecutive second place championship finishes. If he keeps up the current pace (and he shows no signs of slowing down), he could definitely be up there with Dixon, Foyt and Andretti in wins and championships
@@psychlops924 100% newgarden is the best in Indy car atm he wouldâve won last year without all his bad luck
Growing up in New Zealand Scott Dixon was always on the news and is loved unanimously by pretty much anyone ive ever spoken to in NZ about Indy car and racing. I think it wouldve been dope to see him in atleast one race/season of F1 like we did with Indy car and Fernando, never know what he couldve done!
Man I would love to see Edo or Mitch in F1, the latter of which I think would be the more exciting prospect.
Mitch would do a job no question
There were two indycar series when Dixon started, cart and irl. His first year was 2001, winning in his 3rd race in a small team on fuel strategy. He signed with ganassi when pac west folded early 2002, followed them to irl in 2003 and never left.
In response to you query though, f1 passed him by a long time ago, entering f1 as a rookie in your 40s would be a disaster whoever you are.
Of course, the CART days!
As for your questions about Dixon not sure I'm an 'expert' but I've been watching Indy full time since 2003, ironically his first season, and I will say Dixon is famous for his temperament. It's beyond even being safe, he will almost always choose not to battle even a bit, content to pick up lots of 3rd-8th place finishes, very safe. It's ofc highly effective, he rarely has incidents (on his own) and is a king of picking up points which always keeps him around, but for F1 not that you don't wanna be smart but need some more of an aggressive killer instinct. It could be there but to make a jump and try at 40+ nah fam lol As you say F1 or bust isn't the best mentality to have. Indy isn't nothing and he's one of the GOATs for that series. Id say the GOAT since caliber of driver always increases w time (nothing against the legends) so it was harder in his era.
It's interesting how playing those margins is such a polar opposite approach to so many. JPM, Verstappen, Senna. But then Hamilton, I'd say he's got more of this Dixon approach.
I heard Jimmy Broadbent describe F1's racing style as "move or I'll crash into you" a short while ago in a video, and I think that describes F1 racing pretty well, it's often about faking-out the other driver into giving space in order to avoid a collision.
Loving your wider content lately like these videos, speaking about drivers outside of the current F1 grid
Cheers Gemma! I always want to tie it back to F1, but I just love motorsport so am more than happy to squeeze other series in when I can!
@@TommoOnCZcams itâs so different to anything else other F1 creators are doing right now. I obviously love your more current F1 focused content and your streams too! But this feels really fresh and exciting
Jake Dennis needs to be on this list next year, guaranteed. Great racer, itâs a shame he only has 16 points in the last 3 seasons, I think Formula E is underrated in the super licence system with Mitch not having enough points in the last 3 years, but I do think Dennis make up the remainder this season hopefully.
Dennis is decent no doubt, could do a job if the opportunity presented
Hi what about Antonio Felix da costa
Formula E deserves the few SL points it gets. Itâs almost like a demonstration series. The carsâ driving characteristics also donât share that much with other top formula series. So, donât think the experience would be very applicable to F1, IndyCar, Super Formula, etc.
Love the recognition of Indycar. It is def one of the most competitive series in terms of racing. However, Josef Newgarden is also super license eligible 2x champion & would prob be the most competitive/consistent out of the current Indycar crop.
Plus his & Scott McLaughlin's BusBros show is great.
Mitch actually might get the 40 with how this formula e season as well as edo could turn it around based on this weekend
He's doing pretty well so far aye
@@TommoOnCZcams it honestly looks like the Jag powertrain has caught up the Porsche, its an interesting season a team that scored no points prior today locked out the front row.
â@ryutenken1 I think the race proved that was probably a great deal down to the rain, but I am pretty confident Mitch Evans probably will be able to get enough super license points from this season, he's only the second driver to win 2 races this season after championship leader Wehrlein, Jaguar seem to be turning their season around significantly with consecutive wins and a 1 2, and Mitch Evans is already in a competitive championship position, now he just needs the consistency of Nick Cassidy, who has managed to get within 4 points of Wehrlein from 4 podiums and only one win in the last 5 races. I would love to see a Jaguar v Porsche dynamic in the championship this year, hopefully it can be possible!
Would love to see Scott mclauchlan in f1, he did amazing in v8s and came 5th tied in indycar last year in his second season and has romain grosgeons backing
I honestly think António Félix da Costa deserved a place in a F1 car⊠he won Formula E in 2020, and almost had a ToroRosso spot long ago, they opted for a Torpedo
You could fill at least 3 teams with drivers who didn't get their chance in F1, or got it in the wrong car or at the wrong time. Di Grassi, JEV, Antonio, Bird, Wehrlein, Lotterer, Vandoorne...
@@EmyrDerfel If someone was to make some sort of "Formula One 2" you could fill another entire grid of 20+ drivers with those who didn't get a fair chance in their time. Teams included
@@juanin200 Red Bull could probably launch their own academy series. Sort of like Formula Renault, but more strictly an academy. Call it Mobil 1 Red Bull Racing Academy.
Ive notice the shift in your ad inserts. I watched you YT$ video where you talked about changing your style and ive noticedâŠwell done Tommo
Cheers Omar, I appreciate that!
nice subject you choose, never gave this much thought till herta was mentioned. thnx, I know a lot about f1, but this I overlooked. offcourse I know how it works and that there are drivers not in f1 that have a superlicence, but never gave it much thought. thnx for giving me something to think about.
When Dixon started in Indy Car it wasn't a spec series in the same way that say F2 or F3 is, there were different engines and different chassis, so having the right combination still could make a big difference. In 2003 for instance, there were two different chassis and three different engine manufacturers. Even now, they still have two different engine suppliers.
The Scott Dixon video idea is đ„ đ„ the way he got into racing is a great story.
Great video Tommo a bangerđ„ Great to see some Kiwi's coming up on the list as there are very few in the Formula categories at the moment I would love to see Scott or mitch make an appearance in fp1 but most likely not so Liam is my home country's best shot at the moment and he's looking pretty quick :)
SVG could have made the list too n'all. You Kiwis dont play
@@TommoOnCZcams it's a shame here the F1 season time schedule is not good otherwise I would be watching every race :( about 3/4 or more of the season is between 12am-3am
The non-F1 driver I want to see in F1 without question is Alex Palou. And I think there's sufficient evidence that he wants it too. I mean, he already won Indicar, so he might try to win F1 too. And God knows that McLaren needs to have a back-up because Lando looks depressed this season.
Palou would be my no.1 pick too
â@@TommoOnCZcams Imagine an Alex Alex (Palou + Albon) team in F1
Dixon's first year in Indycar style racing was 2001 for PacWest racing in CART during the split so don't skip those first two years, Indycar doesn't. I remember watching his first win at the Nazareth oval that year, caught everyone by surprise.
I think he'd be pretty good at F1, but the time needed to fully figure out the series would hold him back.
Scott Dixon being Fernando Alonso but in Indycar is so accurate lol
Thanks for another video Tommo :)
And thank you for supporting and commenting J K!
8:53 I see what you did there with Super GT đ Steve would be proud
I hope Colton Herta can one day join F1, he's got a lot of talent and because he's so young, a lot of longevity
I hope him or Kirkwood might jump to F1 one day.
The raw pace is there, he just needs to get more consistent
@@mattiasgarbi9470 Kirkwood and Herta need to work on their consistency first. Especially Kirkwood. He's finally got that race win but he needs to keep his car out of the wall and other drivers.
That sponsorship was soo smooth it had me singing smooth operator
You could make an entire series going over IndyCar drivers and how good they are with the stats they hold and such. Could even do this with Formula E drivers too
Shwartzman actually had superlicense. He showed his superlicense on his social media back in 2020 thatâs before he got P4 and P2 in F2 championship
Yep. I think once you qualify you keep it.. the points don't roll of..
Schwartzman's issue is the same as Mazepin, even if he's now racing under the Israeli flag
Scott Dixon debuted in 2001 in cart which is indycar as well
great content!
Tommo uploading getting me through my A-Levels
Good luck with your studies bud
Same lmfao
I got to watch Dixon live in St. Pete this year. He has that âitâ factor, similar to Fernando. I think he would be quick in anything you put him in. Heâs that good.
You should have mentioned IndyNXT champion Linus Lundquist, who shockingly has enough superlicense points.
I should have!
Robert has also been busy racing the new 296 GT3 car. Not many teams have adopted the 296 yet ans Ferrari are currently racing it with a team of factory drivers, Robert being one of them
What's your background song? The one you start after the little intro every time. Love that thing
Edo Mortara has been my favourite driver in FE since he made the most legendary double overtake I have ever seen a few years back.
if shwartzman doesnt get an f1 seat (hope he does) i see him going to dtm or formula e and doing very well, and possibly joining f1 later like devries, i think evans does deserve an fp1 session
I would love to see Brendon Heartley get a fair chance in F1 in a competitive car, instead of a car that can't even finish half a race, he's consistently one of the fastest drivers in the WEC
Nojiri has 80 super license points? That's nuts.
Loved this, we need more
Cheers Kobe!
Loved the supergt cameo
7:40 that hand placement on the left is nuts lol
Didn't even clock that hahahahahah
I've been saying for years now, it will be very interesting to see F1 bring in some talented veteran IndyCar or Super Formula driver instead of the typical F2 junior
the super gt poking up âhello viewersâ had me dying hahahaha
Another notable driver from Japan is Ryo Hirakawa, drives Super Formula and WEC
Tommo, is cereal a soup or a salad? Is the milk a salad dressing or is it a cold soup broth? Soup isn't normally cold but it can be, and salad usually has vegetables but it doesn't have to.
Or maybe milk is a condiment.
Cereal is sh*t, that's what it is.
@@TommoOnCZcams Tommo woke up this morning and chose violence.

What do the super license points look like for driving in F1?
You have also Alex Palou, the 2021 Indycar Champion and 2023 McLaren Test Driver
Can't believe I didn't know who Scott Dixon is! He sounds like an absolute legend!
If you're asking who I would be most interested in watching race, hands Down for me its Nojiri. Such an amazingly gifted driver. Obviously I have absolutely zero personal knowledge about him, but he would be an asset to any team as a professional driver.
That being said Evans seems like the best overall package to build a team with .
V8 Supercar driver Shane Van Gisbergen has finished 3rd in 2020 (10 points), first in 2021 & 2022 (15/15 points). So 40 points.
Basically, what Tommo says in the intro happens in Iron Man 2 when Tony Stark decides he can race at Monte Carlo!
Tony Stark and Jean Todt were besties
A Sudden Sunday banger is always a win
That's what she said... when served a lovely Sunday roast.
6:18 that same experiment was tried before with SĂ©bastien Bourdais, after he won back-to-back Champ Car titles in the mid 2000's. It went badly tho....
Regarding Dixon, if Alonso can then why not. Age is just a number.
Especially these days, drivers know how to take care of themselves better than ever.
@@TommoOnCZcams So just imagine how much Max could win racing till 40. (Given the car he's in)
As an American it would be fun to see Scott get a shot. Heâs just been such a treat to watch all these years
I think generally Indycar is under-recognized and it is really unfortunate because it's an awesome series with some very good drivers. Atleast a handful of Indy drivers could honestly have a solid run in F1 if given the chance
Indy car is great, so many more competitive teams and cars and itâs just so diverse where they race when you also add the variety of ovals they race as well
Steve made a nice appearance in Tomkoiâs part
The real SuperGT
I think Scott Dixon could do it. But I don't think any of the seats offered to him would be worthy of his posterior.
You just forgot Arthur Leclerc already has 40 pf from FRECA and F3 regional Asia, and 2 pt from participating in F3. Also Forgotten Will Power, Josef Newgarden, Jack Doohan. Drivers won't lose the SL once they reached 40pt, they have to apply it and pay for it, they just need to run a minimum km in F1 testing.
Super fun video. A lot of comparisons of age with Alonso. But Alonso is his own enigma.
The biggest surprise is that Scott McLaughin can qualify for super license despite only being in 3rd season of single seaters
This is something him and Newgarden brought up alot on Bus Bros last year to.troll.Herta
I saw Steve pop up when mentioned Super GT
Scot Dixon is also a super nice guy. Complimented my good wood sweatshirt at Texas.
3:28 robert does still race, his in GTWC Europe Endurance
I live in illinois and Scott Dixon is one of my favorite drivers in indy car. I kinda look at him like a Kevin Harvick in nascar and a seb in f1. I would like to see Kyle Larson from nascar give the Indy 500 and f1 a try maybe even just a test would be awesome. There is so many amazing drivers out there.
Larson is running the 500 next year for mclaren. It just sucks how hard it is for nascar drivers to get a superlicense. 40 points in 3 year means 2 championships and a 2nd or 3rd.
Sorry donât wanna be that guy, but just respect how a CZcamsr of this size actually checks his comments. Respect my dude. (Love f1 btw so I really enjoy your vids)
Also, once you acquire a superlicense it can be renewed indefinitely... So someone like Robert Shwartzman can apply for his superlicense, if he hasn't already, and then renew continually for years without scoring any more superlicense points and get his first f1 drive when he's 30... And that will be totally acceptable by the FIA. You just have to continually renew it before it lapses and pay the application fee. Like, I remember reading a few years ago that Adrian Sutil still had a valid superlicense for some reason, even though he didn't drive anything at all for years.
Fun fact, Robert 100% has a super licence, because he's a reserve driver for Ferrari. All official reserve drivers have to have super licences, because they might be called to drive at any point, and that is an eligibility requirement to drive in a Grand Prix race. There's lower requirements to just drive in an fp1.
I suppose some missing on the list are those in the world endurance championship. Partly down to Toyota's dominance the last few years, you'd have to check, but less well known drivers JosĂ© MarĂa LĂłpez and Mike Conway i assume have super licences.
Just a FYI, Dixon really started in CART in 2001 and since Indycar reunification in 2008, stats from CART are back to being official Indycar stats now.
Oh and yeah, I think he or Power (Also has the points at over 40) could preform in an F1 car today at their age. Both are legends. Power is the all time Pole leader of the sport, he can still put down fast laps. Dixon is just very consistent, he can hit numbers, save tires (Fuel ... lol oops F1), pull off whatever strategy the team throws at him to a T. It's why he is so frustrating, he could be nowhere all race then bam top 5 finish fighting for the win at the end every week for years.
i'm pretty sure chase elliott is closer to a super license than colton herta and that is very funny to think about
Shwartzman is the most likely to end up in F-1 for a country-mile.
Mitch Evans could have a go, but with a lower-midfield team at best IMO.
Dixon, Mortara and Nojiri are unlikely to go to F-1, mostly because of their age, and also the possibility of tarnishing their own legacies (in Dixon's case, for example).
Unfortunately for Edo mortara the Maserati team is pretty poor this year. He was an absolute beast last year when the car was using the Mercedes powertrain.
I'm now wondering "how many superlicense-eligible drivers are there in the world"? I'm vaguely aware that when drivers leave the sport, their licenses are valid for a certain time before they need to go through this criteria once more - meaning the pool of ex-F1 drivers who can return is also limited. Maybe there's a stat expert out there who can work this one out?
Tommo's branding is another level đ„
Thank you kindly
the Steve hello viewers shout gave me a good cackle đ
Tommo saving the spring break

I'm not sure if it still applies because of his poor finish last year, but prior to that, Martin Truex Jr. of NASCAR had just the right amount of points for a couple years, with a championship in 2017 and three 2nd place finishes between 2018 and 2021. I remember someone mentioning it to me and being frustrated that he had one with the FIA's seemingly lenient points on the spec-lite majority oval series while Herta couldn't get one in Indy.
I would like Nojiri, but leaving Japan is quite a jump in term of circuits...
I honestly think Schwartzman should get a shot at F1 with maybe Alfa Romeo or Haas in 2024
I hope he doesn't go to Haas. Bully boy Steiner has proved he shouldn't be trusted with rookies.
I think Mitch Evans would be interesting in f1. I'm quite happy watching him in FE though
This video got me some questions - "Could they be in F1?" (if there would be 21st car on grid that could be used for such 1-off appearances for like 3-5 races each, provided for last season last place team - with some 20M bonus ofcourse) and same time "Why they even would want F1?". For young, thirsty drivers it kind of makes sense but there isn't that much "racecraft" (if you know what I mean) that can be find in other series (tighter, sometimes bigger field) and also might have more "handling" characteristics (you gotta be pretty tight in F1... some likes it a bit more wild and wider.. I mean car handling).
I think Dixon has the tire whispering ability to be competitive in F1.
Personally, I'd love to see Newgarden get a shot.
100%
If someone informed on the subject would briefly explain how drivers in F1 retain enough super license points while running only in F1 I would appreciate it. Or while not driving them, such as Hulkenberg being out a couple years or Ricciardo this year.
Obviously even the back markers don't lose their license so it can't be based on top finishes like the support series.
This is only semi-related but the video reminded me of back in 2002 when Toyota made their debut. They paired Mika Salo (who was a very well regarded driver, quite fast, and very experienced) with Allan McNish, who was coming from sports cars and in his early 30's. Although Salo outperformed him it wasn't by much. Especially later in the season. Toyota didn't renew McNish's contract which I think was silly. Anyways... the whole point of mentioning this is that drivers coming from other series can absolutely do alright in F1, especially if they are given more than one season to acclimatize.
Iâm not sure if this driver would qualify, but how about the likes of Thierry Neuville? Hyundaiâs ace driver in the WRC?
I could see the driving talents from this guy into F1. Plus he would also make an interesting character with his colourful glasses frames. đ
I do not find WRC listed in the points table, so no. I think rallying is such a different sport. Most racing that deals Super License points is still circuit-based. Not even rallycross gives points to a Supoer License.
@@MinusMOD98 Ahh okay then, still I think itâs a good suggestion anyways.
The hello viewers was too funny đ
Give Steve his royalties SuperGT!
Would love to see Mitch in a F1 Seat! Heâs amazing in Formula E, does have an always bridesmaid never a bride situation!
I think Scott Dixon could be competitive in the right equipment. He would need a bit of practice to get to know the car, of course, and the tracks (except COTA) would be new to him, but he'd be better than most rookies.
However, at 42 I can't see anyone giving him a seat outside of very unusual circumstances. Furthermore, while we here in the IndyCar world hear a lot about certain drivers and F1 (Herta, Palou, Illot) I can't recall hearing anything serious about him wanting to do so. If he were at McLaren he might get a practice run at COTA if the schedule works out, but Ganassi is an odd place among the big teams in IndyCar for F1. Arrow McClaren has an F1 team, Andretti wants a team, and Penske had a team years ago. Ganassi has teams in a lot of series, and F1 aspirations might make sense, but if he has any, they're more "this could be an interesting idea" than "This is the plan for how we'll do this".
