Imagine all that police training just to wait 77 mins to stand still while the gunman is killing children inside. This is where our tax money is going. What a disgrace.
What training?
The police are under no legal obligation to risk their lives for yours or anyone else's. Their obligations are to enforce the law and protect property. The police have their own wives, children, pensions, and vacation homes to think about. However, be warned, it's not legal to defend yourself or your family either, and if you attempt to do so, expect a SWAT team to plow through your front door with a tank.

It's disgusting that they are worried about the person who leaked the video instead of finding solution for the parents who lost their children at that school. The priority of these county officials, DA are just backward. All of them need to be fired.
Not justifying them in any way, but their plan was to allow families to see it first in private and then release it to the public after. The families are extremely upset about the leak as well, as they were not ready/hadn't anticipated for it to be suddenly released to the public without warning before they had a chance to watch it.
Whoever leaked this video is a true hero, exposing the corruption and incompetent law enforcement. It's our right as citizens to know what happens and to know the truth . Everyone will see this and see what really happened and hell will rain down
But they didn't console with the victims families first. So whoever leaked the video isn't a hero. It's disgusting that they think they have the right to leak a video like that, when the families of the people who died hadn't even seen it yet. It's just absolutely disgusting to think about. Please do not stand here and praise the person who leaked the video. Consent is always the key. I don't care who it's exposing, they had no right to send that video out. Also we may be citizens, but we aren't related to the victims, so don't you think that they should've had the say in whether the video was leaked or not, and not us.

At 3 minutes in, the police had a 7 to 1 advantage against the murderer (and most of those cops appear to have body armor to stop rifle rounds), yet they literally ran away at the first exchange of gunfire. As a retired dispatcher, hearing that teacher call in pleading for help and the dispatcher couldn’t do anymore than they could brings to mind the heartache I felt on some of my calls. With the active shooter protocols in place with so many agencies, to not train your personnel is a direct reflection of the chief and his lack of duty to protect. I don’t care who has the weapon, if they’re shooting, then the team needs to get in there and stop it no matter what. That’s your job. You failed. Innocent lives were taken. Shame on you. May this haunt you for the rest of your days just as the victim’s families will mourn them. I am embarrassed for the LE community that you were not prepared. Inexcusable.

as a former soldier, I'm horrified that trained men had the means to stop the horror and chose to wait. We train for close quarters/room by room combat, we draw paychecks for months, sometimes years with no risk so that the instant we are needed, we protect human life. Chaos reigns when good men do nothing.

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. This is exactly what happened, these different law enforcement agencies that were there should be ashamed of themselves. They failed these children they have been trained for this exact situation and they sat outside and did nothing for over an hour. Sat there and listened to a gunman kill innocent children for an hour. And now they are criticizing and harassing a mother who entered the school to rescue her kids. They should be giving her an award instead of treating her like a criminal. There needs to be a lot of resignations, firings and law suits.

I watched the actual video. For like 30 minutes, the cops just chill in the hallways, one checks his phone twice, one gets sanitiser, go into the wrong classroom, sit outside of the classroom. This is disgusting, and another thing, I think there’s more pressing pressing matters than finding out how the video was leaked

Something that likely wouldn’t have happened had they acted quickly. I say they need to be put in prison with no protection. Have the inmates deal with their sorry asses. I could understand holding back if the gunman was holding them hostage and WASN'T shooting, to try to get him to give himself up... but listening to all those rounds and knowing the guy was in a full classroom I don't know how the officers waited so long without doing anything. Not only was this tragedy absolutely horrific, I can only imagine what those parents are feeling knowing more lives could've been saved if the police had acted sooner. Even some of the ones who had already been shot could've received medical intervention in time. Seven minutes would've felt like a lifetime much less over an hour just standing there 🤦♀️.

That detail had been released about 2 weeks ago when the head of Dept. if public safety issued his timeline of events. The shooter shot his grandmother and stole her truck. He crashed because he didn’t have a license or know how to drive.

Unfortunately many people go into the profession because they think having all the gear and authority makes them “tough” yet a lot of them were the kids that got picked on in school. America needs to get the profession turned around from being a macho career to one where people join make their community a better place
100% agree. Being a police officer needs to attract the same kinda people who try to become doctors, nurses, and fire fighters (people who actually want to help others). Rather than people who just want to be authority hungry bullies.

The teacher who was on the phone with 911, when she cried that the kids are running and for them to get into their classrooms, it's so hard to imagine the state they are in, where the children were running in fear, not knowing what to do. Just makes me want to scream to get away from those babies, even if it means to confront the shooter, why even the parents were willing to risk their own lives to save their children from that monster. If only this was prevented sooner or they'd all still be here today enjoying the Summer with family and friends.
They aren’t worried about the leak harming the families. Those families have already lost their children or loved ones. They are worried about this showing them for how they failed! So sad

dude this isn't the military. There is NO law saying the police are required to instantly confront an active shooter. They have a lot to think about... what about their own families and lives. This is why assault weapons should be banned; this is NO warzone...
They don't have a duty to you. It's already supreme court case. They are a private company. Their job is not to protect people. The problem is we keep saying that they have a duty to us and yet the people still give them authority to run around........

It's amazing to think that some 18 year old kid outsmarted state and federal officials.
I think the least of the mayors concern is who the hell leaked the damn video. His concern should have been why it took them that long to help those people in need. That mayor need to set his priority straight. Don't worry about the video because its already out. But instead focus why your people as armed as they are took that long to get to him.
They should all be fired and the city should pay all the families a large settlement!

I watched the version released by the newspaper, 1:22 of it. I just felt I owed it to those children and teachers to be a witness to the injustices done to them.

The mayor did not want this video released because it shows what actually happened, and the incompetent people that are in charge. It's just disgusting to think 48 minutes after it all begun, he fires four more rounds which could have been two more kids dying. I can't believe they were in there three minutes after the shooting started and one of the officers even had an assault rifle, but they chose to wait an hour. It's just mind blowing to me. What a disgrace.
