Small mix-up in the video, it was Diaz with an assist for Nunez for Liverpools first goal. It was a long Sunday of football for JJ - our apologies!
7:37
I worry about injuries to JJ from being over-played.
Your hair is that of japanese cartoonđđđ
Error on what happened on Liverpools second also, but who really cares?
I hope you guys still get to just enjoy the actual football
Arsenal's forwards' fitness is ridiculous. Martinelli and Jesus especially. They never stop.
Reminds me of Salah and Mane a few years ago, relentless pressing. Jesus is a very intelligent presser heâs similar to Firmino
I think Jesus should have been off sooner due to concussion protocol, he took an elbow from Tsimikas and kept on playing lol what a G
@@Penaldian I think he took the hit to the nose not the head
Jesus? He has trouble supporting his own weight in a standing position.
Seems rather fragile.
@@yt.personal.identification he was outmuscling varane
Tomiyasu the biggest difference I guess, Liverpool quick switch play to salah were denied beautifully
A smart move by arteta, damage was done down the side though
Tomiyasu was really solid.
Having tomiyasu LB also negates the diagonal balls Liverpool play to their wingers with both white and tomi are better in the air
Arsenal dealt with the Liverpool LB with their own RB. On the other hand ,they used Martinelli for Trent. This allowed Tomiyasu to stay back and clear long balls meant for Salah.
There is a disadvantage to this i.e. Arsenal will be man for man at the back. This is also how Arsenal end up conceding the first.
Xhaka dropped into the back line a lot to prevent 4v4
absolutely spot on
Good observation
You got in one. It was to ensure that ball to salah didn't go over his head.
These have been so interesting to me, this kind of analysis I love instead of some pundits spewing random stuff. As always Tifo content on point
"Tempo , intensity, aggression " on repeat for 20 years.
This. Actual thought and insight, not just talking heads being pretty.
Youâve obviously never thought about anything Jamie redknapp says in depth
They do this on Monday night football.
The only thing Roy Keane ever talks about is having big characters and personality
Trent's defending for the second goal was a joke. He was the deepest central defender during that move and in his infinite wisdom he decides to rush out to RB and leave the centre empty.
The best part? Martnelli shifts onto his right and Trent gets cut of the picture like an ex girlfriend.
This was Martinelli's first goal vs Trent in like 6 matches. He's not an abysmal defender, just turns up when he wants. Seems like he doesn't want to play RB anymore
He ran into Hendo and then stood out wide after that rather understanding the switch. Heâs IQ to read the play is in the gutter.
@@symoredollaz610 I think it more comes down to Martinelli's improvement - in previous games against TAA Martinelli has eased past him but not had the quality in the final ball to score or assist which he now has the form and ability to do
And if he doesn't go to Martinelli and he scores then he gets slated for not protecting Henderson.
Where's the criticism of Gabriel for trying to clear balls all day by stretching and kicking instead of heading them? He was directly responsible for the 1st Liverpool goal.
Coming from a Liverpool fan, he's not even that amazing as a defender at RB, how would he be good as a CB in a critical situation like that?
He's not Van Dijk vs Spurs. I guess TAA should be allowed to rest and Gomez should be given chance to play at RB. Just don't push that right flank too much anymore.
every team strategy: exploit Liverpool's right flank, that's it.
It was Diaz assist to Darwin for the first goal not the other way around
Muppets innit
I'm.more surprised people haven't pointed it out.
Potato potato
Really is so incredible that tierney just canât seem to get a look in, heâs unreal but so is every player that seems to get in front of him
He played in Europe mid-week, Arteta is understandably babying him back given his injury trouble
You are both correct lol
He gets in but itâs rotation.
Wasn't that long ago we might have even been using Soares or Kolasinac in his position we were so thin. Now Tierney finds it hard to get on the field.
Can't risk his injury.
Tomiyasu was great at intercepting the long switches that Liverpool try from left to right. Lost count of how many times he defended salah by stopping him even touching the ball
Excellent analysis. On the topic of Tomiyasu, he was chosen over Tierney cuz heâs the best 1v1 defender at our club plus he never loses his aerial duels but mainly as you pointed out to use a predominantly right footed player to defend against salah(it just also helps when heâs the best best 1v1 defender at the club). We did the same in Artetaâs 1st season when we defeated Liverpool with a back 5 with Ainsley maitland-niles (right footed) playing as left wing back and marking salah.
nice spot bout AMN. Arteta is just tactically superior with these details.
I'm noticing with a lot of these Liverpool videos is the introduction of Darwin (as amazing as he is) has moved the team into that new formation with a proper striker (rather than a F9 with the 2 wingers almost as wide strikers/inside forwards) & that's thrown everything off. Usually, Salah would drive directly into those spaces close to goal because that area is being made by Firmino dropping back and drawing defenders out, which in turn would allow Trent more space to roam up to whip those curling crosses in. Because of this attacking output, the midfield didn't need to be as facilitating/attacking, which allowed them to focus on defensive work-rate, which then covered these actions happening. It was an amazing system. With the replacement unit (Diaz, Jota, Darwin) Liverpool are attempting to adapt to an alternate style, but I don't think certain players are adapting well, Trent being the main one & potentially that midfield that are now expected to not only do more but do different things. Liverpool, weirdly, despite being still over recent years the second best team in the league, are in the midst of a slow rebuild, and they just need time to get all the cogs turning the right way. In contrast, Arteta has had all of 2020, 2021 & the best part of 2022 to get this team to where it is now. Every great team has been afforded time.
(I am not a liverpool fan)
It's not just Nunez that's the issue though, even when he was suspended Salah was still shunted out to the touchline and Trent coming inside the pitch. Seems to be a new system Klopp has been trying to implement this season. Bafflingly though he's sticking with it despite the obvious fact that it negates both players' main strengths (Trent's crossing, and takes Salah away from the goal). It's like he's trying to copy Pep but doing it with players ill suited to the task.
Thats why buying nunez was a mistake. I rate him but liverpool already had 2 center forwards in jota and firmino. We should have bkught a midfielder and a back up winger
@@hayek77ishida76 Nunez was not a mistake, he's a good striker, plus it gives them a different dimension if Diaz-Firmino/Jota-Salah isn't working, I agree with winger and mid though, was very noticeable when Salah came off.
@@Mad_Intalect i agree that he is a good striker. I actually like him alot but i dont underdtsnd why we went with a striker when we already had 2 . Unless klopp really wanted to change formations which doesnt seem the case because he Just started doing it
@@hayek77ishida76 Klopp needs to pursue Jude Bellingham and Cody Gakpo imo. Would add (quality) depth and balance to the squad.
Great analysis. The Arsenal back line had 4 centre backs; a solid base that largely neutralized the Liverpool front 4. Arsenal just so good going forward.
Tomiyasu has never played as a CB on a consistent basis for his clubs. He only really plays CB when he plays for Japan. So no, we played with three CBs.
It's funny this game sort of marked the baton being passed from Liverpool to Arsenal. The high intensity quick passing football plays is sort of an evolution of the football Liverpool has played the last few seasons. Yes Arteta hasn't copied Klopp exactly, he's arguably more influenced by Pep, but the high pressure, very attacking football with a false 9 and workforce midfield is very similar to Liverpool. Arsenal might start a bit of a small dynasty over the next few years
I love when JJ breaks down Arsenal matches after they win. More JJ in general, pls!
He tends to be the fairest when it comes to talking about Arsenal out of all of the Tifo guys
Jay jay bull the bullard.
JJ must be bored highlighting the way liverpool concede the first goal every time.. the large gap bw VVD and Matip, TAA straying too forward and not supporting Matip.. a one two bw trent and the CB and goal... even I know now.. XD
I don't even surprised with the way how Liverpool concede by now. Each team has identified Liverpool's weakness and they're capitalising it
bless ya'll for uploading so quickly! I was waiting for this one specifically. what a game
this idea with tomiyasu is that he's technically proficient with both feet and an incredibly well rounded. that's all really. could play in basically any position
What's strange is JJ's individual analysis of the spurs and Liverpool games is absolutely spot on. The podcast on Monday is bizarre. We all have our off days or whatever, but what's even weirder is just not admitting to faults. I'll leave it at that.
Absolutely love these. You should be the poster guy for football. You show the beauty of the game
I'm going to miss Bobby Firmino man, never gets the recognition he deserves, last season everyone saying he's done/rubbish, our best player this season.
So am I, but to be honest being our best player this season is a VERY low bar at the moment.
Liverpool fan. Title challenge is pretty much gone this season, time to focus on top four. Well done Arsenal, defintely going to cheer them on to see if they can beat City.
I think many seriously underestimate how good Tomi is. Prior to his injury last season he was pocketing every winger he played against. In my eyes heâs defensively one of the best fullbacks in the Prem.
I miss seeing tomi starting. Ben Whites been great but I just see tomi doing what white does now but better. Great defender, and can go forward when given chances
Tomiyasu isn't right footed he's ambipedal
What does ambipedal means?
@@ramialeksandersaini6498 ambipedal means can use both feet equally well. Ambidextrous means the same thing, but for the hands.

these videos are so awesome. becoming a mainstay in what i watch on yt every weekend
Tactically this has to be one of my favorite matches I've ever watched. Seeing Klopp and Arteta really go at each other with their own ethos and plans of attack. The strategy to have Saka stay in behind Tsimikas and be used as an outlet was genius. Of course starting Tomi at LB looks a masterclass now.
I was really annoyed at the way Liverpool took the game over in the first half. Maybe it's just because I've gotten used to us out-possessing literally everyone, but it was a quick reminder at the quality they have on offer.
I really would like to know how either of us lost to that Manchester United side. That's the video you need to put out lmao
What is with the sudden arrogance of Arsenal fans who for the first time in a long time are looking really competitive but haven't qualified for the champions league since 2015-16? Be humble while your team is doing well, and it is well-deserved but don't forget you haven't been on top for a long time.
@@dafunkyshit How is any of what he said arrogance? The only way you could have possibly interpreted his comment that way is if you're a United fan, and even then it's completely unjustified
Bcux itâs scripted we won 3-1 last yr
@@Flash4ML I said Arsenal *fans* - not a singular fan, if you re-read my comment. I am referring to the poster using a 'lmao' at the end of his post to mock United, along with several other comments on this video referring to Arsenal not having played a 'big team' until now. Perhaps I should have contextualised. Nothing about the commenter's post was arrogant in of itself of course until the end of the post. Just a bit obnoxious to see that kind of behaviour. This is why I am suggesting to enjoy your team doing well but stop knocking other teams for doing well when you feel you should have won - so it's addressed to a lot of comments on this video and others I've seen recently. I don't mock other teams who have beat us when we have been on top for long periods and any fan who does that is classless in my opinion.
@@dafunkyshit I think you're reading too much into what is essentially banter.
But really I would like to see a tactical breakdown of how Ten Hag got his team so right against what are two superior sides that are much further along in their projects than his.
I actually didn't intend to come across as super arrogant but you've got to understand, Arsenal fans have been through an awful lot for nearly two decades now. You coming in and tone policing how we are reacting to it, mostly with banter mind you because most of us know City are probably well clear still and we've got a ton of work still to do, is more obnoxious than any perceived arrogance.
Love these videos. Amazing insight into how it was a tactical battle as much as a physical one. đđ»
These videos are really professional despite the fact they're uploaded only a few hours after the game.
Finally Tifo actually give Arsenal some credit for winning a match. Letâs see if this continues to the podcast
Great vid.
Can you guys make a compilation of all of JJ's awkward video endings? They are perfect
The first goal that Arsenal concede is because they are man for man at the back. I guess that's a calculated risk they took and it paid off in the end.
all Gabriel's fault he missed the ball if he let it go Saliba would have dealt with it
@@theobvu I think that's to be expected in a 90mins period.
We need to move beyond blaming individual players and moments for how games go. There's generally more to football which is what makes it amazing.
@@theobvu Gabriel was very aladeen this game
OK... but sometimes it literally is one or two players fault for a goal. Maybe they're out of position or make a bad pass or try to do a skill that doesn't come off. Should that not be criticised? Of course, there's not need to berate the guy but a mistake is a mistake.
After watching your analysis for 13 minutes I just have one question. Where do I get that tshirt
Absolutely love these tactics unfolded videos. Please continue to upload more like this!đâ€
Liverpools front 3 rotations not only confused Arsenal but also confused jj đ
It was diaz who assisted nunez for the first goal not the other way round
I particularly enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work
Thank you for the insights
If this run continues Arteta is gonna have this team in a Champions League spot by the end of the season. It's nice to see how he and his coaching staff have transformed this Arsenal team into a non mediocre but hungry young side. As a Barca supporter its good to see a Prem team start to really trust their youth products the way Ajax and Barca have for decades.
Great video, yâall always explain these things so well
damn i thought jj would say "if every Liverpool attack was successful Arsenal would lose" like they did with the spurs game last weekđ€·

@@seadkolasinac7220 i agree but u can disagree respectfully tho đ€·đ»ââ
That's interesting that you explained the right-footed players at left back because they are able to tackle with their stronger foot on players who like to cut inside. Also when they make a last-ditch tackle the ball isn't going toward the keeper, but instead away from the goal.
I love the soothing jazz soundtrack running in the background. What a game! Come on you gunners!!!!
What everyone is ignoring about tomiyasu is his game reading. It's the best i have seen in the premier league. Even better than van dijk i would say.
Typical arsenal fans lmao

You're spot on, I don't know who would be considered better. I'm also surprised every time I watch him at how technically and physically gifted he is! He's tall, strong, pacey, has phenomenal ball control with both feet (I genuinely couldn't tell you which his naturally dominant foot is) and he has really impressive footballing IQ! The best part about it is he doesn't regularly start because Ben White has been phenomenal! I wouldn't be surprised if he moves into left CB (displacing Gabriel) with Zinch/KT dropping back into the LB role
you asre not wrong tomi is statistically the best defender in the prem in terms of defensive numbers
@@mahdhimahmood7609 Want to back up what you are saying? Because if heâs not right, heâs close.
I was told Tomiyasu was 2 footed so maybe that also helped him on the left? Great analysis once again!

I love these tactical breakdowns. The table is sweet. Also doesn't hurt that I'm a goober and quite happy right now đđ
I love these videos. Great analysis
Amazing vid. I think you got Nunez and Diaz mixed up for the Liverpool 1st goal but minor details

For Arsenal's first goal, Hendo and Thiago interchange positions and for the first goal Arsenal conceded it was Luiz Diaz that assisted and Nunez that scored.

Seeing Tomi on the team sheet, I almost had a stroke... a stroke of geniusđ€Ł
Brilliant analysis!
Wait, so Trent scoring a free-kick against Rangers doesnât meant heâs suddenly a better defender?!
It's a good time to be alive! Lol

Good review as usual
That 2nd goal just before half time is that put sum respek on ma name goal
I resonate wit JJ's shirt a lot
I love this analysis.
What a time for neutral fans of football (in the Premier league) I have throughly enjoyed the way Man City and Arsenal are playing now.
WEâRE BY FAR THE GREATEST TEAM THAT THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN
I have definitely been underestimating Arteta as a manager. Hes doing a fantastic job in all respects. I knew we were in for a game but the togetherness arsenal are showing is something too rarely seen. I genuinely think they have a chance of doing it this season. But they may face the same quandary we have for the last 5 years, scoring points that would normally mean you would win the league at a canter but unfortunately. City exist. Lol
Centre back as Wide defender was not an innovation I saw coming. Tomiyasu, White, Struijk at Leeds.
More like modern versatility blurring the lines between the two positions
Is it wrong to admire JJ's fashion sense?
'I have dissapointed those in my life I love most' shirt goes hard
Find out by copying it. Braver man than me.
No it is not. Admire away good sir. Even the plants next to him are in raptures.
As a City fan, give Trent his dues, he went off after getting clattered in the 1st half and his ankle/calve will be a state today
Yeah, thought the claim that he was subbed for his poor defending was speculation gone too far - have to take Klopp's word (that it was an injury) at face value. Listening to it on the radio, Glenn Murray reckoned he needed to go off at the time (which he probably should have). Now the news has come out that he's missing for the next 3 weeks, which suggests Klopp was telling the truth - he might have subbed him anyway but we don't know that, so no need to go there
Its funny. The Arsenal front 3 remind me of the famous Liverpool front 3 at their peak. Relentless workrate.
I was kinda thinking that arsenal mimicked them at the front (or what they used to be)
@@rezaalizaida783 Arsenal is modeled more after Pep's style than Klopp's, for Arteta and his mentor it's all about exploiting channels and half-spaces. The forward line of Arsenal and City is constructed to flexibly exploit the five main channels created by the typical back four, emphasizing versatility and attacking interchangeability, meaning the forwards are all more or less adept at playing in each of the channels if needed.
Eg. Xhaka playing out wide, creating the chaos leading up to the penalty, or Odegaard driving up the middle on the break and getting an admittedly tame shot on goal
Great video but for the first Liverpool goal you got Diaz and Nunez the wrong way round!
Please tell me your t-shirt is available as merch JJ đ€Ł I need that tee in my life
"Just have a nice time!" đđ
Was worried that Tomiyasu was playing left back but he pocketed Salah so well I barely noticed his presence
i watched his Europa game. Made close to zero defensive mistake, much more solid than any wide back in the team. Just that we doesnât overlap much with the winger.
Best defender at the club if it wasn't for Saliba, glad to see him playing again after missing out on so much of last season
Xhaka being very wide on the left at times is crazy, really exploit TAA defensive mistakes... If Arsenal can keep this up at least until boxing day, it's looking like it's gonna be a really good and really promising season for them..
Man is Arsenal a joy to watch. Pity that the Arsenal City game couldnt go through. Cant wait for that game.
I think we will see Saliba and White partnership soon. Tomi is too good to be left out and Gabi has been making mistakes in few games now, White is more calm and composed just like Saliba.
It's easy to see and point out Gabriel's errors and discount his strength and physicality on the ball, he definitely offers something more than Ben White in that sense. Idk if he'll be substituted in the middle for White or not, but it's something to keep in mind
07:43 it was Diaz to Nunez
It was an intense game

Liverpool fan here. Always appreciated your work! But I am not sure whether Liverpool âwill be fineâ as mentioned at the end, as there is no sign of recovery unfortunately. These players look deflated and mentally tired, while Klopp and his coaching team donât seem to have a solution. Iâm afraid we will end up finishing 7th at best this season. đą
I dont know what game you were watching, we deserved at least a point here imo. Had we gotten our pen/they not gotten theirs i think we could have held it to a win.
Liverpool had an off season the year before last, and they bounced up to secure fourth on the last day. I wouldn't get too down about the long term future of the club after 9 games, you've still got a very talented squad

Enlightened and unbiased analysis, great work JJ
I think putting tomiyasu near salah is not mainly because he is right footed. It is more to win the aerial duel, liverpool tend to spray the ball to salah when they were being press and release salah. However in this game all the long passes to salah were intercept by tomiyasu excellent aerial ability
Aerial ability is important, but his overall defensive versatility and resilience is the main thing, not any one part of his game
@@Flash4ML defensively I think tierney and tomiyasu is on par, however aerial duel is the attribute that tomiyasu is better than tierney. 90% duel won for most of his past game. Arteta also has mention it in his previous post interview, the way van dyk and liverpool mid release salah always gave us problem. During this game, none of the long diagonal pass reach salah
I need to know more about JJ's shirt!
Tomiyasu was also in for his height to defend VVD diagonal long balls and not to mention his great defender, pocketed Salah

Would love to get an analysis of whats happening to salah this season. Am I the only one that thinks he's receiving the ball in increasingly wider positions? He used to play like an inside forward, nowadays he's more like a pure winger. I feel this is a tactical change in order to accomodate nunez, but who knows. Would love to see a heatmap comparison. To me playing salah like this is a waste. Do not remember him receiving passes in half spaces this season, which used to be the areas where he scores most of his goals.
