Thanks for the video. Like you said, there isn’t any other videos out there telling you how to do it. Not a lot of bs just how to do it. Greatly appreciated.

Great video! A couple tips for anyone else tackling this job:
    1. Disconnecting the yellow connector to the left of the ECM (visible at 2:57) works differently to all the others. This connector is for the airbag sensors, and is secured with a spring lock. To release the lock, get a finger tip on the white piece of plastic located on the right side of the connector, and slide it towards you. The connector should then slide out very easily.
    2. You need to remove the HV ECU first (6:49), and the video isn't totally clear on how to do that. There are two L brackets on the top and bottom surfaces of the ECM, fixed to it with Phillips screws. The HV ECU is bolted to these brackets. Release the bolt on the upper bracket (6:03) and the screws and/or bolts on the lower bracket (not in video).
    3. You need to release the lower bracket holding the ECM to the chassis. This is pictured at 5:30 (still bolted to chassis, but rotated 90 degrees CW so it's out of the way)
Photos in this album might be helpful in understanding what's going on: priuschat.com/media/albums/gen-2-ecm-replacement.2631/
Worst case scenario you can remove the instrument panel which adds about another hour of work (see czcams.com/video/PIOrdcQvnJg/video.html)

Great Video, just showing how to get in there so we can check the connectors for corrosion is great! My kick panel (the flexible one) isn't coming off (the part by the bolt is stuck) - i wonder if i am missing something obvious?

If you have a working fob the vehicle can program another fob using the "chicken dance"

What a great video. How did I stumble onto it? My Gen 2 Prius is throwing the POA80 code and says hybrid battery, but that code could mean anything and all the service people are saying to replace the hybrid battery. I noticed that the ABS light is on on the dash display. Is a bad ABS possibly causing the POA80? Tune in tomorrow to find out...

A bad ECM will often throw a lot of trouble codes, give poor fuel economy, "forget" your key setup, engine light on various things. Usually multiple problems at the same time. Of course it could be the wiring harness as the ECM doesn't often go bad, but the call personnel wasn't surprised that I had a bad ECM but that's all they sell so there's that.
