I've been in South Florida for 9 years now, and every year we've had a dry season.. typically for about 4 months with little to no rain. Not this year. It's been crazy. Hell, I just had to mow my lawn the other day, typically it's long since brown and dry by now.
I was going to hike the Ocean to Lake trail in February (a FT side trail in Palm Beach County)... but there's no way. I doubt many others attempt it either.
Anyway... I'm enjoying your hike. Good luck and thanks for sharing!

Hi! I met yall on 520 after trail maintenance at Toso. I remember giving Merlot a boiled egg! I was so excited to see yall! This year, the trail water is sooo high! The highest I’ve seen it in the three years I have been doing trail maintenance. Highest I have seen it while hiking the FT in sections! Godwin camp was high and dry but getting there not so much unless you took road 8 way above the camp and backtracked. I am sad yall had to road hike on the roads, and so sad you missed some of the best part of the trail, besides the Panhandle. Happy trails! Looking forward to seeing the rest of your hike. Please tell Merlot I say hello!

Hike your own hike and I don’t blame you for not wanting to walk in the deep water.

Walking along Rt 60 sucks. I hike that several times. Never seen that much water.

PS you’re not cheating doing a high water trail bypass.

    Scary fast vehicles.

Good decision. Lots of folks on the AT are having to change their hikes up because of trail closures due to snow.

Is your hiking partner someone you met on the trail or knew before?

I’m impressed that you keep going on the Florida trail, or at least close to it! That’s some staying power. 👍🏻🚣‍♂️🤿
