We show you what there is in the delightful town of Durnstein, Austria. See our highs and lows as we explore this town and its castle that once imprisoned Richard the Lionheart. We give you a big tip to ensure your day here runs a little more smoothly than ours did. We visited here in October 2023.

This was our first river cruise and we loved it. There were loads of little gems along the Danube. More expensive than ocean cruising, though. Thanks for watching 👍
The view from the top was lovely and I've learnt something about Richard the Lionheart. Nice little town. I bet your wounds hurt when you got in the shower. Ouch. Could have been worse, though.

Loved seeing this, we just sailed past and thought it looked nice so will def look for an itinerary that stops there if we do another river cruise in the area.....though we probably wont make it all the way to the castle!

Ouch! That looked a painful fall. A timely reminder, as well, that a good level of fitness is needed to fully enjoy many of the stops on a Danube river cruise. Pity we didn’t hear one of Lisa’s German pronunciation “ lessons” at the archway 😂
An irritating little bleeder indeed and with a painful cut to boot! 🤣 It really does help to be fit and active to cover enough ground to fully appreciate each stop. After a couple of drinks Lisa can pronounce 'Das schloss ist gesschlossen' perfectly 👌
