- This is my second Bernard Purdie drum cover. It's so fun to groove with the great Chuck Rainey on bass and Aretha singing her heart out. This song has the famous break in the middle 2:35 that all the drummers should know, so check it out and listen to the original track. R.I.P. Aretha Franklin

I've been flicking through videos of many drummers playing dance and r&b music. They often overplay or simply lose the groove. I'd rather watch you play locked into the groove. Over and over.

What an incredible groove Mr. Purdie displays in this masterpiece, and the last bar of the middle break…perfection!!! I remember hearing this song decades ago, I loved it immediately. And then I heard THE FILL - it absolutely floored me! Great job covering and kudos to you for exposing young drummers to gems like this!

Your simply amazing, love how you play and love the sound of your drum kit. The recording is good but would really love to hear you record it with just a pair of spaced omni's giving a realistic and natural soundstage. WIth some great mics, like a matched pair of Nueman m149's on 1/4 inch analog tape lol. Of course assuming the room has good acoustics.

All groove! Great stuff. I usually play guitar but I sat in with these musician friends of mine many years ago. I can play some grooves just fine. Others not...like this one. I bricked it pretty bad. I will keep watching this. I sold my vintage black Ludwigs but I can get some buckets! LOL
