  • Here's a video* of me drumming to Rock Steady, the Aretha Franklin song from her 1971 album, 'Young, Gifted, and Black.' The drums on the original recording are played by the legendary Bernard Purdie, a true groove master, and for this video, I decided to remain faithful to Bernard's original part; my drum part's not exactly the same as what Bernard played, but it's quite close. May this video bring you much enjoyment!

I watch this video a lot! I love how true you stay to the groove! Some people that post drum covers do a little too much for no.reason. Again, you ROCK!

Hey brotha you've most definately got soul! I've been pro musician guitarist for almost 30 years and have always hand picked my drummers and a big PLUS is if you can handle the funkyness of Rock Steady and you most definately can! Love playin this tune with a band. Oh yeah. Oh and I too practice in front of a mirror. Great practice tool. Allows you to REALLY technically speaking what's goin on with my right and lift hand and in your case, your right and left hand and your left foot. Great!
