    Great job on this. The only unbelievable part is that it took until 2056 to invent the power loader which is essentially a forklift. It's hard to believe that the cure for cancer, faster-than-light travel, artificial human skin, and a host of other amazing inventions were all made before they figured out a wearable forklift. Lol. Your channel is awesome, btw. Thanks for all the great content. I'm exploring everything I've missed as I write this. Seriously, you do a fantastic job.

Soon you begin to wonder what hope humanity has for survival if we're utterly dependent on a single corporation which can act in any way it desires by sheer value of its economic power.

      TO: B0M0A0K: Sorry! You didn't have proper clearance. lol! But ah listen; if you keep this info between your ears.This is what I heard/::
      Bishop was a covert syn-tech; he was implanted into the crew with a plausible deniability chip; also his aggression chip was removed so he wouldn't harm the crew,and thus be found out,or thought to be rogue. W.Y. thought this was best course of action to reach his goal,and this also granted W.Y. plausible deniability as well because Bishop's main goal; was an ulterior motive to that of the crew at the time. Why you maybe asking? Because Weyland-Yutani was about to lose their defense contract,and at this point it would cost them trillions of dollars. So W.Y. was very eager to recoup those funds at any cost. That's about all I've got for now. My apologies my friend,but I can say no more. without incurring the wrath of Ripley 9...

      Charles Bishop Weyland was Peter's father and due to his parent's divorce during his early formative years led him to become a reclusive yet brilliant scientist raised in England. Bishop Weyland died during a trip to Antarctica from chronic congestive heart failure. His remains were recovered after a measured deep core 8.4 earthquake collapsed a remote derelict exploration depot. Through DNA mapping and from his memoirs an early AI prototype was developed and enhanced by Peter Weyland to honor his father. Subsequent versions achieve near "singularity" similar to David prototypes.

As a kid, the mystery behind the company always intrigued me, as well as the logo which would appear occassionally. Also, could you tell me the ambient drone that plays beginning at 7:30 Top notch video!

    This content is amazing. I really paid more attention to the all David models. David's character in Covenant was just amazing. How a synthetic (artificial person) is so human like. The way he went after Daniels was so human like. It still makes me question what did he do to Shaw. I hope somehow we get a full explanation of what he did to Shaw and how did he defeat Walter. So many questions lol. I wonder what he will do to Daniels. Maybe kill her right on the spot or make everyone seem that she is insane. Maybe even wake her up early in cryo and somehow put a facehugger on her face or in-pregnant her with xeno babies. Maybe somehow (just thinking) make her the first queen. He made Shaw physically different, why not do the same to Daniels. She's special to him now, just like Shaw.

    It was a nice touch having Weyland's father be a professor of comparative mythology. One of Weyland's defining character traits is his megalomaniacal god complex. Considering he was so gifted, it's not a stretch to say that he was influenced to believe -- or, at the very least, led himself to believe, based on his father's work, that he was a god.

    • @Ikaros23
      @Ikaros23 Před 2 lety +1

      He have grandiose narcissistic personality dissorder. And he passes the same traits on to David 1. You see this in the first scene where he devalues Davids natural curiosity ( that he is made to have). Because he is a envious God ( his inferiority complex). Envious of his creations abillity to outlive live him for thousands of years.
      So he makes him serve him tea, to show him his superiority ( the narcissistic superiority complex).
      The narcissist has a split personality. And wheres the mask’s of both Hero ( God) and victim.
      He has even called his creation David like the first man born of God. When in reality he has created Kain. The brother killer.

  • @TheSentinel64
    @TheSentinel64 Před 4 lety +3

    First of all....I love the near subliminal insert of Bishop at the end of this great video. Secondly...I saw "Alien" at the then tender age of 15 with my parents, my 14 year old sister and my best friend at the time who was 15 and his sisters. It was my first R rated movie. And to this day at the age of 56 I still find it hard to watch that chest burster scene. John Hurt's portrayal of unrestrained agony as the Alien is, as we know now, hidden inside, clawing and pushing, setting up for the final lunge out of Hurt's chest cavity, is breathtakingly and disturbingly real. The worst part of all for me is the moment right before the Alien burst forth Hurt arches his back in that moment of the most extreme agony, his screams go to a near silent hiss and his tongue sticks out in a grotesque form of pain induced rictus. And then the big reveal. What makes it worse is there is no music. There is no dramatic musical interlude to build your expectation or even drown out some of the sounds of Hurt's agony and the surrounding chaos. You are TOTALLY in that scene as another character with no where to go. And even if you close your eyes and just listen to that entire sequence you know what happens and your mind's eye will fill in the rest. This is why "Alien" will go down as one of the Top 3 horror films of all time, IMHO, particularly of non supernatural horror. Maybe of ALL time when you realize that to compound the Alien horror you find out, along with Ripley and the others, that they as Human Beings, with all their experience and knowledge, particularly in service to Weyland Industries, is worth less than their value as hosts for the Alien and the Alien itself. "Alien" the movie is in many ways a Sci-Fi encapsulation of Karl Marx's "Das Kapital" in which as one of Marx's criticisms of Capitalism is that at a certain point in a Capitalist economy the efficiency of either A: human labor or B: technology ( or a combination of both ) makes it where you need less humans to do the work and/or the degree of higher knowledge needed to do said work has been lowered because the difficulty of said work has been abstracted away due to human efficiencies and/or technology. Thus the "Value" of labor is decreased and of course this means the value of any individual laborer is also decreased. The worker...in the words of Marx...begins to experience "Alienation". This brilliant video timeline of this fictional Earth's history and its "Mega-Corps" set in the Alien franchise helps to place the politico-societal-economic evolution of Capitalism in this future. The crew of the Nostromo, unfortunately, have discovered that Weyland and the Mega-Corps have reached the beginning of a futuristic Late Stage Capitalism where the added value of human labor is less than the combined labor of the Synthetics (David model, Bishop model, Ash model, et.al.) and the value of the Aliens themselves particularly for the Military Division of Weyland. Which in turn means that their very lives also have less value and they are about to not only experience a metaphorical "Alienation" but a LITERAL one. Combine Weyland's use of the Colonial Marines to secure its "Assets" in "Aliens" to a disastrous and Vietnam like effect and "Alien 3" with its prison labor metaphor which doubles as the ultimate expression of alienation and you have probably the best cautionary tale of Late Stage Capitalism and mankind's future ever set to film. Which is why Ripley's suicide at the end of "Alien 3" is all the more poignant. When one reaches that kind of alienation where you realize that your value to the system is squat you are confronted with the spectre of suicide. You also see that with the George Bailey character in "It's a Wonderful Life". You also see it in the here and now of our world with the increase in suicide and the rise of psychotropic drug use just so people can get through the day in their increasingly crappy and meaningless jobs. In the end...unless one can find some other source or sources of meaning other than "valueless" work as presented in Late Stage Capitalism, the only agency one may ultimately find is in one's own suicide. The value of the original "Alien Trilogy" is that it strongly suggests these issues probably will go with us on our journey through Space and to new worlds. It may be time to confront those issues here in OUR world and timeline before we actually go out to a destiny amongst the stars.

    I have a true testament to the many creative people who not only conceptualized, but saw to fruition "all of the franchise" (I'll even include the Predator tie-in, trusting that some if not all was well-done, though I haven't seen any of those films or read anything about them, which brings me to my point: I'm "barely interested" (I won't bore people with what I am interested in that takes so much of what "steals time spent with fiction from me" (or something like that), YET...I still find this franchise impossible to not keep up with, even if I'm usually a bit late to getting around to it, by today's standards. I'm drawn in and impressed, and at this pont there is no nostalgia to include in reasons, there is MAJOR competition for my interests, and still.... I "respect the work & craft" enough to stay abreast of it. Thanks again for the video, even if it's not of your making , which I rather think it is. great vid. the alien films actually have alot of focus on androids, something ive not really paid attention too much.since weyland never had children, i wonder if an android inherited the company.i wonder if weyland yutanis intentions behind acquiring the xenomorphs is actually to study their biology so they can try to bridge the gap between organic and synthetic life since the xenomorphs are technically somewhere in between.
    i always assumed the reasoning was to use the aliens as a weapon, but given the companys history it just doesnt link up with with weylands past ventures. hes a humanitarian not a dictator.
