@@Alex-cw3rz He supposedly only weighed 215, not 230. If he weighed 215 and didn't lose another pound in 3 weeks, that's on Rahman. He could've lost 5 pounds through diet then cut the last 10 the week of the fight. Asking someone his size to make a 10lb weight cut isn't a big ask.

Spot on! The real reason he picked him is because Rahman has no chance to ever get a payday in his life. Just like all his other "opponents". Every fight he's had has either been to set up a part 2 payday or he has no gas left and still puts guy to sleep the exact same way. They are always face down and don't move at all. Woodley wasn't even doing anything and still had Jake in trouble at one point and didn't even attempt the finish 🤣🤣. Sorry if I spoiled any of this WWE stuff to all the JP believers, but it's just not real
The fights are entertaining.
Like Porter said, there is a reason they picked Rahman. Also based on his career to date Rahman is unlikely to ever get a pay day this big - so this is his big moment. He will shrink down, he will make weight, he will make the rehydration limit if required... and he will be weight drained. But I would 100 advise Rahman to take the fight. There is no real down side to it if he wins or takes the L. Very savvy by JP Team.

It's going to be tough for Jr. to win this fight because he going to be starving, not only does he have to make weight 194lbs the day before the fight but he can't gain a single pound for an additional 24 hours after weigh in, which puts him literally unable to eat or even rehydrate until 3-4 hours before the fight... Jake going to win not because he a better boxer but because he set it up to fight a thirsty starving fighter. Jake say "he wants the best and his opponents to be at their best" obviously not in this case, all the casuals don't know any details which Jake banks on, this is a trick not a boxing match!

when this fight first got announced i made a comment that usually when you get knocked out I believe there's a 90 day wait before you can fight again, idiots responded but the fights more than 90 days since the knock out, and I'm like yeah but he'll still be feeling effects from the recent knockout and now a veteran fighter basically says the same thing. most fighters wait at least 6 months or longer to fight again after a knockout loss.

Fighting dehydrated definitely leaves you open for a knockout from lesser fighters, Jake knows what he’s doing, that man’s brain will have no fluid around it
We can hate Jake all we want for it but the man signed his name on the contract. I don’t think people on the outside really knows that the second Jake loses then the interest around him goes away. They aren’t going to risk him losing to a fighter that isn’t well known, they put all the stipulations in because if Hasim can rehydrate to 220+ he’d probably be able to impose his will to win. If they both come in at 200 then Jake has the edge because that’s what he always fights at that. Besides it isn’t like Hasim is a real high level guy, he’s a step above Tommy Fury but he isn’t a world beater.

I agree with this. And I'd like to add that perhaps J.Paul has challenged himself by getting in the ring and training albeit relative to his life. But I don't suspect he will keep going and challenge legit boxers his size. Also regarding this vid, Porter is a great ambassador for the sport and I enjoy listening to him speak about boxing.

I have seen the knock out of Woodley over and over again, slowed it down rewinding it and I am still not convinced it wasn't a thrown fight. The punch looked set up and too many things happened before and after that had me squinting the whole time about that fight. If he beats Hasim Rahman Jr. (His former sparing partner) I believe it is another job to pump Jake up so he gets a shot at Canelo. I would love to see him fight Nico Ali -Walsh who is more proven and holds a similar record .

I don’t think the fight will happen. Like he said.. Rahman JR might not be able to follow the rehydration clause, then Jake’s teams will cancel the fight and blame it all on Rahman Jr. then Jake will do the whole “I tried fighting a real professional boxer who’s close to my age, bigger and has experience but he didn’t make the fight happen”
The clause in the contract says that Rahman will lose 25% of his purse if he fails to make weight, not that the fight will be off, so if Jake does use that as an excuse to cancel the fight, he's a ducker. I'm kind of half-rooting for Jake, I think he's a complete dickhead but nobody can deny he draws eyes when he's fighting, for me I'm just always curious to see if he's actually improved, see if he's actually got any technique there, but it's literally contracted already that he'll just lose 25% of his purse, not that the fight is off, so that's not a reason for Jake to cancel the fight.
