Christian Apologists PROVES Flying Monkeys exist & Buddhism the One, True Religion

  • Christian apologists, such as Lydia McGrew, claim that little connections between the Gospels actually prove they are historical accounts of the life, deeds, and even the miracles of Jesus. Not only does this claim end up running against the last century of biblical studies, the methods are not sound. If we really want to follow the logic of "undesigned coincidences", we are just as well justified in believing in Buddhism and fantasy novels.
In this discussion, Dr. Aaron Adair will show the underlying problems with the entire logic of undesigned coincidences, and then we get into a story from the East that is just as good, if not better, than the Gospels when it comes to the exactly same criteria. By the end, will you have reason to praise Jesus, or should you switch to praising the Monkey King, and his Japanese variant: Goku?

Not "Monkey King", Great Monkey King (sage equal to God).
I have been studying the Great Monkey King for many years and I consider him my totem. It's a yellow thang but all are welcome. Funny, Chairman Mao said, "Be like the Great Monkey King." So, Journey to the West was never banned even though it's a religious book. I have a completely different but overlapping interpretation of the Great Monkey King. The Great Monkey King is certainly the Chinese version of the Indian God, Hanuman. And even the Ancient Egyptian Thoth in his baboon form. His crown is exactly the same; Two feathers, a cobra with a red circle (see Thoth's ibis crown). And you didn't mention, Journey to the West even has a great flood event in it.

    • @andrewsuryali8540
      @andrewsuryali8540 Před 9 měsíci

Hanuman isn't a god. He's literally just a magic monkey. He isn't even the king in his monkey kingdom, just the prime minister.
The monkey king is also not a god. He's specifically called Great Sage Equal to Heaven to emphasize that he isn't a god and shouldn't be treated as one.
In fact this very point is made in Dreams of Red Chambers, the fourth of the Four Great Novels, where Jia Baoyu has a conversation with other young Confucianist educated men about how the Great Sage Equaling Heaven is somehow wrongfully worshiped as a god by the peasantry despite the fact that every educated Chinese person knew he was a creation of Wu Cheng'en. It's the most interesting discourse in the book because, here's Jia Baoyu, an incarnation of a Buddhist magical being, debunking peasant beliefs in their popular gods while himself believing that other gods are real and thinking he knew the "proper" forms of worshipping those gods.

Yay, Journey to the West! For a Buddhist story, it's so funny, lots of madcap adventures in that one. It converts to manga really well. I always thought that monkey king was just a lazy bum for not wanting to go in the river, but these arguments are somewhat compelling. I still think he's a lazy bum though.
Thanks for introducing some Eastern myths in the mix. I'm still surprised when I see plot lines in common with the biblical ones, like the baby in the river, returning from the underworld, etc. even though I know they are going to repeat themselves. Great example for debunking UC apologetics.

the most interesting (from a theological analysis standpoint) of Journey to the West is how it's a perfect example of the kind of syncretism present in chinese religion. but also how the author kind of subtly ranks the 'truth' or power of each of the influences (taoist potions, folk religion divine bureaucracy, and buddhist transcendent truth)

Love this brilliance in looking at the logic. For those who claim the gospels were independent eye witnesses, it falls apart from the start in my view when you see Luke and Matthew at least are over 80% word for word copies of Mark (or some other original).
That is not an independent eye witness telling their own version (in their own words with variance) a story, that is someone copying Marks work for whatever reason, or was it Mark who copied Luke and decided to remove the bits he did not like, did not have time to copy, or ran out of paper.
It is the same way a teacher knows when a student wrote their own works, or copied from another student.
We can for sure say the books of Mark, Matthew and Luke the authors copied from each other or from another common source.
If they copied another work why? Were they mere students duplicating an existing work to practice writing. Duplicating and modifying for different audiences or political spins on things?
If they just duplicating works and putting spins on things or pulling more text in from other works, then that is all they doing, they are copiers/scribes (modern day printers), not authors, and certainly not eye witnesses.
IF these people were actually at the event, why would they need to copy mostly from an existing works?
They would already know what they saw, and can describe it in their own words and fill in their own viewpoints.
You don't see it in the gospels.
If it was a copy a work, with the intention to provide commentary, their views, their beliefs, or what was contrary to what they saw/experience, then they also did a crap job at that. They did not say they read this works, then provided a copy of the works, followed with their commentary, belief, or contrary views.

    • @masstv9052
      @masstv9052 Před 8 měsíci

Exactly. Anytime there's word for word between 2 or more works, then it's not independent eyewitness accounts.
It's people just trying to put their spin on things. Just like Paul was catering to a Greco -Roman audience. And even the other apostles supposedly told him to stop, and that he was distorting Christian theology, rules, and rituals. But Paul was constantly begging for money from previous towns where he converted people & set up a church.
I think Paul was just a hustler. That's my take away from his letters.
And this way he could convert Greek & roman audiences, by doing away with all the rules & rituals that other apostles said were required by Jesus

Asia in general is based on feats
The West in general is based on statements.
Even how the books of the bible were chosen is a statement about a people who declared that the holy spirit chose the books, in Asia Indra plays the role of god but simply the next god to arrive hits him or plays with him The Jade Emperor He plays the same role } but with Wukong he basically runs away and rejects the fight because he already lost.
And the mystics in actural forums would be called John the one who makes statements, the largest site for statements is in attributes of god on wikipedia where they put a biblical quote, the opinion of one and the statement of others, the final power being the statement of the interpretation of the 5th type on that of the 3rd opinion on the 1st and because the 2nd was wrong in something that the 4th corrected
I will try to summarize, but they are quote of quotes so it's long.So if you see each source it changes even more, not to mention google scholar. And also not to talk about what each person thinks of the quality of God with respect to theology.''Immutability
Immutability means God cannot change. James 1:17 refers to the "Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows" (NIV). Herman Bavinck notes that although the Bible talks about God changing a course of action, or becoming angry, these are the result of changes in the heart of God’s people (Numbers 14.) "Scripture testifies that in all these various relations and experiences, God remains ever the same."Millard Erickson calls this attribute God's constancy.
The immutability of God is being increasingly criticized by advocates of open theism, which argues that God is open to influence through the prayers, decisions, and actions of people. Prominent adherents of open theism include Clark Pinnock, John E. Sanders and Gregory Boyd.
The Westminster Shorter Catechism says that "[God] is a spirit, whose being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth are infinite, eternal, and unchangeable." Those things do not change. A number of Scriptures attest to this idea (such as Num. 23:19; 1 Sam. 15:29; Ps. 102:26; Mal. 3:6; 2 Tim. 2:13; Heb. 6:17-18; Jam. 1:17)
    James 1:17
    New International Version
17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
    Trials and Temptations
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
9 Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. 10 But the rich should take pride in their humiliation-since they will pass away like a wild flower. 11 For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich will fade away even while they go about their business.
12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
16 Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. 17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. 18 He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.''
I am going to add something and I like the civil and criminal example. For example, criminal is x thing is punishable by 14 years in prison. It is civil, it is 50% of the money for the wife and 50% for the children but it is more open to interpretation, I would say that it is how they take the bible in the previous example of immutability.Between theology and forums vs. there really is little difference both are based on "My character beats yours"Normally both the bible and the comic with a civil interpretation or a long interpretation as we have just seen.
Now if we do the same with JTTW it doesn't give for a book of 10,000 chapters for each verse of the book.
''Although the gods had the Great Sage cornered, they were unable to get near him. The noise of the shoutingand the fighting had already alarmed the Jade Emperor, who ordered the Miracle Official Youyi to go to theWest with the Helpful Sage and True Lord and ask the Buddha to subdue him.''

Doesn’t the phrase “undesigned consequences” if you follow that reasoning fly in the face of verses like:
    2 Timothy 3:16
    New International Version
16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
Logically one would have to admit that God had no idea that there would be undesigned consequences in the words breathed.

To be fair, in the majority of Buddhist belief systems, there is a reason why the history of Buddha narratives generally always start with some variation of "I have heard it said" or "it has been said," and that is b/c this is a broad religion that does not require absolute, fundamentalist belief that the old stories are "gospel truth." It IS the philosophy held within the many Buddhist traditions that have more weight, but most Buddhist schools also allow the believer to be critical, even unbound to any theistic tradition or magical belief. And even the grand solution to life's problems held by the majority of Buddhist traditions--meditation, mindfulness--are both consistantly showing ACTUAL, EVERYDAY REAL-WORLD BENEFITS--benefits for the individual and society that does NOT involve magical incantations or "prayer." You don't have to believe in a god/God, a savior/Savior, or prayer. You don't have to pray. Just shut up and learn to be open to the passing clouds of one's mind/thought and stop judging what you experience/see/think. But otherwise, this is still humorous and worth-while considering. But for those who know nothing of Buddhism (and other Eastern thought), the Monkey King stories aren't taken seriously even amongst the Mahayana Buddhists who continue to share the stories--Buddhists know it's BS but think that's okay. Christians are tied to Golgatha themselves that it must be absolutely true or nothing at all matters and it's all useless and worthless, even to the point of bending reality and ignoring history and language to justify the ridiculous. Also, aside from some very real but very few cases, comparatively, generally most Buddhist traditions don't have all the bloodshed level that Christianity (and another specific Abrahamic tradition) have historically. (Well, under current world situations, ALL the Abrahamic faiths seem to have a very violent, all-or-nothing dogma and determination.)

This is what I hate about academic studies. People who study or do research only get on the back of another person's research and never test theories for themselves. 😮 Im also a Academic in Social Science and BA Business but thank God I first did business and Social development as a natural outflow of my passion and with the help of God's Holy Spirit wisdom and not according to BS theories, charts etc. I must add that after 20 yrs in business , then perusing academics only to qualify as a Lecturer and tutor, I could see how and why Business Entrepreneurs don't pull through. Academics teach you basics that is very different than reality. The same applies to religion and all this Nonsense that channels like this advocate. It's a lot of garbage and unnecessary Useless information. No Academic study can convince anyone of a right or wrong way. You flippen have to test it for yourself. Have you ever read a receipt of a chocolate cake and then baked one but added some extra cocoa or melted chock chips to it? Well that's how you have to see the Bible or religious text. It's only stories and history, but you habe to seek God in your own way on your own journey through life and not in Mosks, churches or Sinagoges. Flippen I just don't understand how you people think. 😮 What do you want to proof???

    • @masstv9052
      @masstv9052 Před 8 měsíci

Except they do test theories of others works. That's why there are different academia who agree or refute other theories. And they usually use textual investigation, and forming their own hypothesis, and test it against others textual investigations. Seeing if they reach the same hypothesis or not.
While also applying archeological evidence to the texts narrative, which almost shows the archeological evidence either doesn't agree with the texts, or has very little evidence. The only real evidence they have is the names of places or people.
But that doesn't mean it's a factual book. Just because Spiderman is living in NYC, and we know NYC exists, doesn't mean the story in the book about Spiderman is factual or a fictional story.

I love this stream so much. If you *really* want to show the absurdity of the UC argument assuming the existence of first person truthful eyewitness accounts (as you do with the journey to the west example here), you should try this thought experiment on the old Star Wars Canon- 50% of it is post-hoc additions to clean up contradictions created from earlier 'texts' 🤣 it is ENTIRELY made up of stitched patchworks of 'puzzle pieces' that 'fit exactly to explain gaps between other sources', spread across hundreds of media and across different media forms. but as we all know, if the puzzl epieces fit exactly to answer a gap, that MEANS it is true!!
(tyou could do this with star trek, transformers, marvel or DC comic books, etc.)

Buddhism is not a religion, right? The monkey king is not a king right. Hanuman was not a king. The chinese monkey “king” went to india to go get the sutras. Many of these stories are like the ramayana: sita and rama are the atman and brahme trying to reunite. Hanuman being devotion. As the ramayana the blind king is the mind and the 5 pandava sons the 5 senses etc. Eastern disciplines are about turning the senses around.Turn the light inside. All knowledge being self knowledge. Meditation is a universe inside. The western mind is developed different and not many can penetrate. My grandfathers god, a kabbalist, was more like the dao. Not “one god he is mine”. But god is one. Not we may not make graven images and not say y-hw-h’s name. Its that like “the name that can be named is not…. Etc.People bring everything down to their own understanding

The reason behind those stories similarities to the Gospel is simply because they're relatively intertwined to bring about one ideological message of faith, hope and love amongst humanity worldwide. That's why there's nothing new under heaven according to my Holy Bible. The same God with multiple performances in different cultures to bring about ONE MESSAGE of UNITY!
Meanwhile: I AM the Omega Christ, and last Eve balancing the SCALE of JUSTICE for Humanity!

Hell exists, for those who believe in it, and that also applies to those who have discarded that belief through logic, but retain a nagging suspicion of its reality, even in their unconscious. WE are Gods (Jesus said it!) and possess God's ability to create. But those who go to Hell eventually realize it's not "real," and it vanishes. There are just as many NDEs that describe this process, as there are that simply report on trips to Hell.

That's because such stories are rare compared to the many people who die, the details of the stories are inconsistent, the people have heard of hell thus the idea was planted, and the few that have been monitored by brain scans during the near death experiences showed brainwave activity, which shows that it's a hallucination in their brain.
