KREYOLIZATION is a video essay presenting an exploratory research about Black experiences within education. It explores the violence of assimilation and strategies of Black resistance. This video offers insight into some of the identity-related experiences of Afro-descendants with education in Belgium and the Netherlands, and shows how these experiences led to alternative spaces, forms and sources of knowledge production.
This video was screened at the Afroeuropeans Studies Conference (2019, Lisbon) and at the Symposium On the Matter of Blackness in Europe (2019, Los Angeles).

KREYOLIZATION is een video-essay en presenteert een verkennend onderzoek naar Zwarte ervaringen binnen het onderwijs. Het onderzoekt de geweldadigheid van assimilatie en strategieën van weerstand. Deze video biedt inzicht in de identiteitsgerelateerde ervaringen van Zwarte jongeren in het Belgische en Nederlandse onderwijssysteem, en laat zien hoe deze ervaringen hebben geleid tot alternatieve omgevingen, vormen en bronnen van kennisproductie.
Dit video-essay werd reeds vertoond op de Afroeuropeans Studies Conference (2019, Lissabon) en op het Symposium On the Matter of Blackness in Europe (2019, Los Angeles).
