this is the best channel on the internet to learn how to play music.
Thank you Mr Chris, you are the best!
It's insane, it was exactly this morning that I thought of this scale and how I've never done anything with it!! Then immediately I opened youtube to see if you have a video on this but found stuff on Thomas' channel only, and now here I go!! Awesome!
You are the only one..
Thank you Chris! Your live sessions on Open Studio have been transformative. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.
This is the video I've been looking for almost a year now. Wow I'm so excited. I cant wait to put this under my fingers.
Such beautiful changes. So much of it works because of the dissonant passing tones , but the resolutions are stunning. Thanks Chris! :)
Congrats on the open studio gig! I love those guys.
mind blowing! love it
So happy you got into Open Studio!
So many great things to learn, I wish I'd discovered them earlier when I was trying to crack the code. Goes to show you should always go to the source to get the knowledge if you really wish to get the key.
that dominant b5 diminished scale is the exact same intervals formula as Messiaen's mode of limited transposition number 6.. I'm amazed how two totally different approaches can arrive at the same place at times.. although, the way each get there and how they explore it are two different worlds..
Yay! Love open studio!
Me too.
i have always appreciated the whole tone flavor of the 7b5 scale of chords, and the 'harmonic major' sound of the 7 dim scale of chords
I just started practicing elevator a week or so ago. Another great example of you and Thomas complimenting each other's chanel beautifully.
Awesome
I'd love to hear you create single note lines on these other scales
Hey, a playlist for these ep would be cool - I'm just finding these now and want to play through each vid - they're a bit scattered
A scale with major and minor 7 on dom chord. Excellent. I know monk uses major 7 in the melody on a dom chord. I think maybe he was thinking thing diminished over dom sound. Thank you so much bro.
I know the diminished is the 5 of 5 of the dominant but need to see what it is on the 7b5
how would these classes/workshops work for someone living in eastern europe
Is it possible to use it as saxophone players or is it only for piano and guitar ?

is caravan not a good tune to use that c7 to Ddim? Seems like it with all those bars of C7 will have to try it... No since thats not a 5 chord but the Db7 is like a diminished with that b9 in there
2:45 Gdom7b5 diminished scale
It is pretty
Hey Chris! I’ve been wondering, what scale does Barry play on the iii chord or the IV major?
For the IV (maj #4 you mean ?), logically, it’s the same as the I major, leaving the #4 to someone else… Or maybe 1-3-#4-6 then 2-4-b6-7 etc ?
in this theory every chords became a tonic center in wich we can move from the resolution and the tension so it's like major I. Hope this will be helpfull

Hi Chris,
A couple of Questions:
- do you plan to continue with this channel?
- will you have beginner level lessons at open studio… I’m a pianist wanting to transition to guitar?
Yes and Yes. It's for all levels. I highly recommend it. Hope to see you there.
@@thingsivelearnedfrombarryh2616 awesome.
You don't create pdf for the lesson
