  • Things are moving along well in the loft, except with one of the racing pigeons. None of the girls have taken a shine to him, so he takes it out on the younger birds. Alas, I have a solution!

The blue pied that is claiming all the boxes , that’s perfect motivation for racing so you should note things like that and see what happens during the racing season 🕊️

It's odd because he couldn't get one on the other side of the loft, even though there were 4 spare. But now those cocks are preoccupied with their own hens and the new arrivals he hid in the second section and took over 😂

    Hi Dan,
Brilliant content and really enjoy the videos every week.
Some observations and I know you spoke about re-configuring the loft in a previous video.
With the old bird loft to make life easier for yourself I would move the partition and have all Widowhood boxes in one section and the other section with poles or v perches for the hens.
This will allow you to do roundabout system easier.
I hope you have a great season and enjoy the birds as always.
    all the best.

Hey I’ve been really enjoying your videos. I’m also new to the sport. I am working on building my young bird team and plan to race for the first time this year. Thanks! New Mexico, USA

Perfect. Have you joined the Facebook group? If you do, post photos/videos of your team and loft. Always interested to see what others are doing

Any tips on how to capture a lost racing pigeon? I have one that has been visiting my terrace for coming on to 3 weeks now. Sometimes it will sit under my table for an hour or two. I cant get close enough to it to take a clear photo of the ring number. I have been feeding and watering it in the hopes it will find its way back but no luck. I'd like to reunite it with its owner. Thanks!

Find out who your nearest club is and give the secretary a call. There might be a fancier nearby that can help catch it. I've never had to do it because they usually follow my own birds into the loft. If you have a shed you could try putting feed on the floor and entice it inside by the sound of the seed hitting the floor or shaking a tin with feed inside (seeds/nuts etc). Try whistling as you do it. It may have been trained to the tin and whistle.

Yeah unfortunately they do. But so do the mice. It's a difficult balance isn't it

@@howtotrainyourpigeon I found the dryer the location the less the slugs found them.
A couple of fenn traps in safe tunnels around the loft and garden perimeter are cheap and work 24/7 for the Rolands.

Love this time of year! Your birds look great. I have not been on your channel for a long time. When you started it you had talked about creating a film. Did that dream morph into the best racing pigeon content on CZcams? 😎

There's no real problems so far. Never seen any or any droppings in the loft under the grill but that's probably because I 'usually' keep the bait stations topped up
