    Sim, I love your ambitious idea for this car.
    My concerns are your biting off more than you can chew.
    Your talking electronics upgrades, wiring, modification for transmission tunnel, exhaust, cold piping etc.
    Due you have to DEQ your vehicles up there?
    My opinion you would have way better opportunity with a older American Muscle car to do all you ideas and plans on. More available bolt ons, parts availability = less $$$ and paying people to work on it for you.
    Good luck, I'm happy for you and wishing you the best on your build!
    TTVE!

      He is gonna drown on this project bet on it. He doesn't even know what the difference between 4l60 vs 4l60e !! nevermind getting the Honda ecm to talk to the GM trans etc. the list of battles is virtually endless. of which I am pretty sure he has no experience with any conversion.

      I appreciate your concern lol. I completely understand why one would be. Although unlike Betsy for this project I by no means am diving in headfirst into an unknown abyss’s. I’ve been doing a lot of research on how exactly to do this swap for a little while now. Yes it is not something common or as I mentioned in the video even something that has been done before, but many similar builds have. I’m sure there will be things I get stuck on that will “delay” the build. I throw delay on quotations because there isn’t any real deadline to delay. It’s just whenever I figure everything out. As for the older muscle car stuff there wasn’t anything that really excites me. This on the other hand has me super excited! I have been researching stuff non stop and thinking of all kinds of cool ideas of what to do. Yes doing research is a lot different that actually doing something and having hands on experience, but how else will I learn? If I was too scared of something like this and never did it I would never learn how to do it. I’m looking forward to what is to come! By no means will it be simple and easy but I will definitely have fun along the way! Thanks for watching!

    • @MiloPerrotti
      @MiloPerrotti Před 2 lety

      @@SimABCXYZ Sim you are right there is only one good way to learn and that is hands on. Like you said research is just that though. I feel you have a false idea that you're gonna cruise through this (you are not going to!) Conversely you can buy your way though it. I'm sure through perseverance you will ultimately be successful. There will be blood sweat and tears! Hopefully mostly tears of joy LOL GOOD LUCK

      @@yattaran1484 The big problem with that is the electrical grid can not handle anything close to this requirement. It will not happen. only about 3 out of 15 houses can charge their cars each day at this time and there will be even more stress on the grid as electronics advance in the future. I know about this because I own a company that builds green hybrid commercial power plants. The grids are extremely overloaded now. The hardest part of finding a location is finding one that can handle our power output and get it into the grid to sell.

    Hey man, I want to see you build this and think it will be great content. You should try to talk to Kyle from Boosted Boiz. He has some superfast turbo K swapped cars. I have seen him reach out to a lot of other people and think he would have some great advice. A K swap with a big turbo like that can put down some serous power. What engine management are you going to use to tune the engine. A lot of people love fuel tech or holly. I like fuel tech more myself. I would also recommend going with a 4L80. Yes It will be slightly harder to install but if you do not want problems and want to make it reliable, then the 4L80 is the way to go. Ask yourself now how many times you want to swap the 4l60 out. If it's 0 then do not use it. You would need to build it like a race trans to work good, or you could use a stock 4L80 and have no problems.

    • @SimABCXYZ
      @SimABCXYZ  Před 2 lety

      I’ve watched a bunch of the boosted boiz stuff for information already. They’ve got some crazy stuff! As for the transmission I was just looking last night at some 4l80’s instead because of exactly what you said. The one thing is I wonder how much difficult it would be to fit. I’ll look into it for sure because there is no doubt that the 4L80 is the better trans. As for the engine management my current plan is Haltech 1500 elite because I’ve seen a bunch of other Nissans with K24’s running the same ecu. Although I’m still looking at other stuff such as fuel tech. It seems though Haltech is the go to for import/jdm stuff. Thanks for the advice!

    • @edellenburg78
      @edellenburg78 Před 2 lety

      @@SimABCXYZ true but does it have a built-in boost controller. You also are going to need some sort of wastegate. A lot of people have two of them one on the intake side and one on the exhaust side. Big Chief and Kyle both use fuel tech so that should tell you something. LOL you can get there complete system with harness and boost controller for $2,500 bucks. If you're really thinking about drag racing I would go this route. A lot of people buy the cheaper stuff to begin with and then realize once they get more into the sport that they need the better stuff and then have to buy it again. It doesn't look to me like you grow up rich so I'm just trying to help you invest your money wisely. You're probably going to need injectors too.

    You need to do your homework with this. Make sure the stock Honda engine can handle boost. And how much boost do you want to run. 20lbs, 30lbs, 45+. You need to see what you need to do to the engine to run boost. You might want to remove the head and pistons and see what end gap is needed to boost it safely. If I was doing this I would put some forged pistons in it if they are not already. Have it balanced and put head studs and a head gasket designed for boost.

Your gonna have to get a forged rotating assembly and take it all to a engine builder there gonna have to do some machine work also....and around 400+HP I don't think you will be getting 20+mpg in gasoline if you was to run E-85 you most definitely won't be getting 20+mpg running E-85 is almost like double the fuel than gasoline...not saying you don't have the money for this build but it's gonna be interesting to see how much this build is gonna cost vs putting a cheap stock LS 5.3 with cam and headers and exhaust and good tune you could easily get 425 HP...

      I could build the existing engine but I want to do something different

    LOL! Honestly I think you are making a big mistake and I would be surprised if it ever runs right and everything works right. You have a Nissan with a Honda engine with a turbo added and a gm trans. ROFL it will be an electronics nightmare! Just put the turbo on a vg30 or buy a twin turbo vg30 like I did. At least you know you can get the electronics and it will work.

      I respect your opinion since you watch my videos regularly and comment a lot. But I don’t think this is gonna be a big mistake by any means. My plan was to get a car, swap the engine, and put the turbo I have on said car and engine. This just so happened to be the car I decided to get and with the engines it was between this or an ls. I already explained why I didn’t want to go ls in the video so I won’t repeat it here. I understand your concern with the electronics and I have been doing a lot of research, asking a lot of questions, and doing everything I can to learn as much as possible. Will that mean this will be some smooth seamless swap? No, by no means will this be “easy” but I don’t see how I can learn how to do this stuff without at least trying. Tying back to your concern about the electronics, right now I’m looking into a Fuel Tech ECU which will allow me to control the engine, transmission, and boost all in one. I’m still looking into it and have been emailing back and forth with the people at Fuel Tech trying to figure out as much as I possible can before I start buying stuff. Notice I didn’t even have a transmission yet in this video because I’m still figuring out a few things before I commit on something and start spending money. Sorry for the long comment and I appreciate you voicing your opinion.

      @@SimABCXYZ I appreciate your long comment, thank you! Fuel tech normally would control the honda engine with a honda auto or manual trans. Hooking up the honda to a GM electronic auto trans will be a real challenge for anyone (but I know there are companies who will custom make adapters to join just about anything together), then adding the install in a Nissan car, oh wow that's a real handful. Probably plan on another instrument cluster to make gauging a lot easier. Maybe a GPS speedo to simplify and a 6cyl to 4cyl you need a new tach, not to mention making the rest work. The ECUs will most likely need to be standalone and then programmed to work with the others properly. I think fuel tech will even have a problem trying to run the honda and the trans on the same computer and get them to cooperate properly but who knows good luck to them. I understand what you want to do and I agree an LS swap is not a good swap for that car. For me, I also need to have a car that will pass smog here in California and of course, this would never pass here. That's why I did the twin-turbo vg30, it is the original engine in these cars, I just had 2 different computers for it and one was performance and the other for smog. A big change in power of course but also if I took it on a long trip I would use the smog setup as it was much less stressful on the engine overall and a lot better mileage. But good luck to you in your venture you will defiantly learn a lot, thanks.

    Make sure you do two things if you want to run that turbo on a k24.
    #1. Valve springs. Your power band with that big of a turbo will start approximately 4500 rpm. Valve springs will allow you to rev higher which you will want.
    #2 ring gap. You need to set your ring gap to allow for expansion due to the extra heat. I recommend.007 per inch of cylinder bore
    Along with proper a fuel system and proper tuning you should have a fun little ride
