Motion sensor light using microwave radar sensor module RCWL-0516 and 555 timer.
I was asked to create motion sensor circuit that could be used to control not just spooky decorations during Halloween party, but also some LED strips or other lights afterwards. Request was to make the whole project without programmable microcontrollers or SMD-components. That way one who can follow schematics and knows how to solder circuits on protoboard can replicate the project and modify it for their own needs. Avoiding SMD components and final circuit being easily adjusted means it's not suitable to just add/replace SMD capacitor in the radar sensor module.
This circuit is based on basic 555 timer circuit, the monostable multivibrator. By using small fixed resistor on larger value adjustable resistor as timing resistor, ON time can be adjusted to fit the intended application. adding NPN transistor and diode to the input allows active-high signal from radar sensor to trigger and retrigger the 555 timer. Retriggering makes the output stay high for set duration after the END of input trigger. Without that diode, countdown starts at the BEGINNING of input trigger.
