Kevin Tetz guides you through the step-by-step installation of a vacuum-formed ABS headliner from LMC Truck. While the headliner installed in this video is specific to 1973-1987 Chevy and GMC trucks, the process should be similar for Ford and Dodge trucks with minor alterations.
This is a very simple DIY project and only requires basic tools. Your old pressed fiberboard headliner is likely deteriorated, but it’s easy to remove, and the new ABS headliner with foam backing and either vinyl or cloth is just as easy to reinstall. Although the removal process is easy, it’s still a good idea to label the parts and bag and tag all fasteners you plan to reuse, just in case. Note that this is a good time to do any interior lighting upgrades while the headliner’s out, and it’s the perfect time to quiet things down a bit by adding a layer of sound deadening (as demonstrated in the video).
As usual, Kevin has a few extra helpful tips to make this job even easier, including a trick with mechanic’s wire for routing wires if you’re performing any accessory upgrades as well as a smart bungee cord trick if you’re installing the new headliner by yourself.

You could paint the screws for the headliner
LMC needs to think about producing the factory style cargo switch. It's a necessary truck part.

It's an LED but you can always go to a incandescent bulb

I love these videos I traded about $12,000 worth of stuff for 86 pick up that was supposed to be in good shape well it was dark and I was very sick and raining I am take the stuff I went out check the truck the next morning number and tell you what was a piece of junk has a straight body and not much rust on it but I have to rebuild the whole interior on it even a seat so I'm gonna start to restore this truck

Spent 4 hrs installing my LMC headliner in my 84 C-10 yesterday! What a pain, none of the pre cut holes in the ABS plastic shell aligned with my cab also dome light cutout was to big for my factory housing. Very poor fitment for the price LMC charges! However LMC is sending me another, hopefully this one fits better. LMC was very helpful and apologetic.
How’d the second one come out? I’m thinking in ordering one for my 94 extended cab
@@irishuwould5185 terrible fitment out of the box, have a buddy help you. It really pissed me off spending that much money and having to poke holes in a new headliner just to make it fit properly.
I see you paint your pull straps .and pre existing parts if chosen.. can you paint the dash the same way since lmc.only offeres black dashes?
But, what about the trucks not originally equipped with the trim. How do we add the trim then?
Andrew Turner Fairly simple most of the screws provided to you are self tappers so are you have to do is mark the holes and drill right through in your truck will be equipped with headliner.
What about a headliner for a crew cab? Last I saw they only had them for single cab.

That plastic headliner won’t vibrate with a subwoofer??
I believe that's why the sound mat was laid on first. And like vibrations would be against the sound mat.
Always a worry for me with paneling but with deadening I think it should be good.

I cannot find the actual socket for this in the LMC catalog. They seem to have every one but this. I bought the housing thinking it had the socket but it does not. It was just gone when I got the truck. 2 wires hanging. Am I just missing it in the catalog or is it not available?

Lmc needs to address the mfr of these headliners, have one just over a year and the glue is releasing. Contacted Customer service and it was warrantied, new headliner arrived, removed from shipping box ... And the material is already releasing from the board😢

i have a 1984 chevy c10 scottsdale that never came with factory headliner or any of those trim peices with the tweeters or the cargo light switch but i want some so can i still install them or will i just have to suffer with out any of that?
