    These are good points. From Genesis it appears that God just decided to wipe out everyone except for Noah and his family without giving anyone else a chance. I think everyone else did have a chance, though. The ark was large and took time to build. Genesis 6:9 says Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. 2 Peter 2:5 says Noah was a preacher of righteousness. While the ark was being built, would Noah, being a just preacher, not have preached warnings to everyone else about the coming flood? Would he have not offered for people to come on the ark if they wanted to?

  • @donphillips5957

    Knowing virtually nothing of ship building I will ask a question that I wonder about. The words that we find translated as Ark both also can be translated into modern english as box. Now we can easily understand in the case of Moses, but with Noah? Is it actually necessary to build in the form of a traditional boat since it is effectively a life raft, meant not to travel, but mearly to keep them afloat for an extended period of time.

    • @protorhinocerator142
      @protorhinocerator142 Před 2 měsíci

      No, it didn't need to be what we would consider a traditional ship. It was more of a box.
      There were no sails or other means of propulsion. There was no rudder to steer. Noah had no control at all over the direction it would go.
      If you look at the dimensions, the thing was shaped like a giant coffin. Noah's Ark was the symbol of death. This is a great example of a "baptism" occurring in the Old Testament. People went into the water, looking like they were going to die, but then emerged alive.
      Another example would be Moses leading the Israelites across the Red Sea. He parted the waters and they walked across on dry land, not water puddles. They went down into the water where they should have died, and came up on the other side alive.
      Conversely, Pharaoh's army went down into the water as well, but without God's protection, they drowned.
      When Moses was a baby, his mother put him in an ark and floated him down the Nile. He was supposed to die. Pharaoh made a decree that all the male children should die. But instead of dying, Moses was pulled out of the water alive, to be taken in by Pharaoh's family.
      In all 3 cases, the difference between life and death was faith. The people who trusted God and put "feet on their faith" were the ones rewarded with life instead of death.

    A Harvard-led study indicates that Earth’s early ocean could have been one to two times larger than the current ocean volume1.
    These calculations are based on the interior water storage capacity of the planet, which includes the water bound to minerals in the Earth’s mantle.
    Researchers compiled data from scientific literature on minerals that contain oxygen and hydrogen atoms (the chemical equivalents of water) and used these figures to estimate the mantle’s water storage capacity.
    Implications:
    In extreme scenarios, if the primordial ocean were two times larger than today’s ocean, it might have completely flooded the land masses on the early Earth.
    While modern Earth’s surface is approximately 70 percent water-covered, this research suggests that our planet was a true ocean world billions of years ago

    Sefer Hayashar (written as early as the 9th century), states that it took just five years for Noah to build the ark. According to a 9th Jewish commentary from Italy, God used a “finger” in providing instructions for Noah to build the ark (Pirke De-Rabbi Eliezer 23). This source states that it took 52 years for Noah to build the ark, with Divine guidance.

  • @itzcaseykc
    @itzcaseykc Před 10 dny

    I agree. Most people do not take into the equation that Methuselah and Lamech had sons who may have helped build the ark. Even if they didn't believe God would destroy the whole earth with such a destructive deluge of water, as inferred in this video, as long as they were paid to do the work, they wouldn't have cared. Even if the ark was completed in 20-30 years isn't the point.
    The fact that people should be more concerned about is this: God instructed Noah to build it and by faith Noah complied. We who call ourselves Christian should live and respond to God's call to obedience through faith as Noah did. It is through faith in Jesus that we are saved, just as Noah's family and the animals that were brought in was saved when they were in the ark.

    There's an important point to consider about the Noah's Ark landing place location. The biblical account says in Genesis 11:2: "And it came to pass _as they journeyed from the east_ , that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they dwelt there." The question is: Why Noah's descendants journeyed from the east if Mount Ararat is northwest of Shinar? It is true that after the flood around a hundred years or more had passed, but, the point is: Why they were in the east and not in the surroundings areas of Mount Ararat or in another place of Turkey or Armenia? There could possibly be a place that we're ignoring.

    It is true! Noah may have hired workers to build the ark. The Lord may have made a covenant with Noah when his three sons were yet young and unmarried. He mentioned the daughters in laws knowing the boys would grow up and have wives later. If so, Noah may have spent close to 100 years to build the ark. I am more comfortable to think that it took such a long time, so that the wicked people at the time lost interest in what Noah was doing because it was a painstakingly long and slow process.

    Certain species can’t be monogamous and require multiple members to reproduce successfully.
    Genetic bottlenecking is a serious problem and none of the descendants of a single breeding pair would survive anyway.
    Every time an obligate carnivore hunts one of these animals, they’re going to make that species go entirely extinct.
    And the ark floating above the highest mountain would make the altitude impossible for the animals to breathe, if they haven’t froze to death already.
    And that’s not even mentioning all the devastation to plants and soil.

    Noah wasn't using "Stone Age tools". The Arc site in Turkey has revealed iron rivets and washers, laminated beams glued together with tree sap. Gopher wood was the term used. in those times for laminated timber. He was a master craftsman and on a project of that size he would have most likely employed workers at various stages. The arc came to rest on mount Ararat at an elevation above 5,500 feet indicating that the event was a giant tsunami rather than a flood caused by a downpour of rain. Remains of sea creatures were found around and under the site and they don't fall with rain. The arc story in Genesis becomes a tale of fantasy due to the theme that pairs of every animal in the world were taken into the arc. God's Holy Spirit has revealed that Noah, a wealthy farmer saved all his own farm animals along with food to sustain them for a year. Noah and his family lived in the arc while they re-established a farm and dwelling in the valley below the site.
    All credit to Ron Wyatt for letting God guide him to discovering this amazing site.

    How were all the animals feed for 600 hundred days? (Genesis 8:13). How much vegetation does one elephant need every day? Google-300 pounds. 2 elephants - 600 pounds for 600 days equals 360,000 pounds. Even in tight bails that is more volume than would be available just for two elephants. I believe that God has given many stories. Parables, drama, metaphors, allegory, and etc. In conveying His truth and directives to every generation. In Mark 4:10 Jesus tells his Disciples why he uses parables. He does so because many would have no understanding of biological, chemical, or physics and would totally refuse the history of God teaching His people. So as Jesus gave parables for human understanding, so God gave narratives that people could understand and live, in “Faith” and “Faithfulness “. The story of the flood covering the entire earth has to be an allegory because of present day knowledge and logic. There are dozens of problems which some twist in unbelievable way to try to maintain their positions. Brothers and sisters do not throw away faith in God because the flood and other allegories cannot square with undeniable logic. Jesus referred to Old Testament narratives just as every serious preacher does. So brothers and sisters believe that God has been working with the world and humanity for millions of years and He is still working wit us today. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and live for Him. Thereby we are saved.

      I’m writing my story everyday. But, the only difference is when we” die the story doesn’t end. Wether your into physics or math or science they all tell the same story. Just ask the questions your singularity skepticism tells you is impossible, improbable, non scientific correlation.. to, what is real?!” And ask not what you know. But something bigger than yourself.. creator of all things.. what is real?!” Are you real? If so prove yourself to me!” But, it’s important to recognize that if you receive the proof without question you seek than, will you then, follow this.. story?!” Cause the truth is most people don’t actually want to know.. or care to know because deep down that means recognizing something in themselves that’s, broken, lost, and bewildered from its creator so long that it’s going to hurt to call him home. But.. hurt so good. I hope. I pray you find your story my friend. As the days are short. Jesus did for us what we cannot do for ourselves. But, that’s another, story…”. 😉

    What pains me so much is the casual acceptance of things like "Noah was 500 years old when he built the boat". As if it was ridiculous to suggest he constructed it at 900 years old but not at 500. Then casually going on decipher how long it took Noah to build the ark, based on completely normal modern average ages of parents and children. So presumably people in Noahs time aged at a normal rate until they were adults and then somehow the rate of ageing slowed by a factor of 10? A far more likely and credible answer is that the translation of the flood narrative did not account for the difference in the Babylonian number system of base 60, or that the ancient cuneiform was misread due to it's poor condition missing an all important mark. That would be reasonable! but then it would trash the biblical timeline so Young Earth Creationists HAVE to accept it even though all evidence suggests it's nonsense. Please get your research and information outisde of AiG - they are zealots who cannot accept facts.

      @@laurarivera5875 You tell me you really believe that there was a Noah? Have you ever heard of Gilgamesh? Most ancient civilization has a flood story. Let’s see, 6 months it rain, trapped in a boat with all the animals, feeding them, pooping, the water was five miles high, and how long do you see plant life living under that much water, and where did the water go? It’s a fairytale. And Noah and his family inbreeding, look at a family in West Virginia inbreeding, one barks like a dog, and all of them are mentally regressed. Even their faces are mess up, their eyes are more to side of their head. It’s very sad. There would be nothing to live and nothing would grow. You go to a lake or river that dry up, if it wasn’t for surrounding plant and animal habitat, and take the North Pole. People in antiquity didn’t write stories for being accurate, they wrote it like Aesop fables.

      Those are good questions. There was a 7 day window that the ark was left open for those that wanted to get on. They had a choice like we do today. God didn’t just select a few he wanted to save. I believe he would have let anyone get on that wanted too. Just like Jesus having his arms open today to let “whosoever will” be saved.
