    I learn something every new video. I have read most everything you just talked about, I've seen the pictures, but being able to actually see it hands on, takes it to another level. Maybe I didn't muddle that explanation too bad.

    Yet another great informational video. I have really enjoyed your tips for beginners videos as well. I grew up reloading, but gave it up for 15 years or so, but have started buying equipment up again as it was always a relaxing hobby along with letting me shoot more. Being budget minded, beginners really can use your great information to get a good starting point and if they enjoy the hobby can grow their equipment based on personal needs.

      James Mac - First of all, thank you so much for your service to all of us. You helped us maintain the freedoms whereby we can even do videos and exchange ideas. Elvis and I are cut from the same cloth - we like to delve and explore to find out what works and what works well, and then share with as many who may want the information. You have good tastes - the Uberti Cattleman in 45 LC with 7 1/2" barrel is a faithful reproduction of the old Colt thumbbuster and if your Uberti was time warped back to 1890, they'd think they had a Colt in their hand. May you and your Cattleman enjoy many many peaceful years together... FC Steve

    Sweet selection of molds. I need to get a good selection of 9mm molds going. That's my primary cal.
    I have one .45 LC mold, flat point, round nose & will probably leave it at that unless I really get into cowboy shooting. I only have two .45LC revolvers (Dragoon & New Model Army) both with conversion cylinders. Right now my plan is add the Ruger New Vaquero & leave it at that as far as cowboy guns but I hear Cowboy Action Shooting is addictive. lol My guess is my plan will go out the window & that list will grow.
    Anyways, my friend just took out my 2nd batch of 9mm reloads & it was 100 for 100. No malfunctions. :) Thank you!! I have learned so much from you, As a new reloader I must say your vids are really helping the learning curve. I can't wait to get out myself & get back to shooting. Surgery coming up shortly. If all goes well I will be at the range in a month. :)

    I bet that 262 grain swc would be a great all aound bullet choice in the 45lc. I shoot a very similar bullet in my 45lc also a great "farm" load for those days I find myself in the seat of a tractor. I enjoy plinking with the 45lc. A pleasure to shoot. .

    • @FortuneCookie45LC
      @FortuneCookie45LC  Před 10 lety +1

      James Helton - If had to only have one bullet for the 45Colt, that 262 SWC would be it (and I shoot mostly 8.0 Unique with that bullet). But to really be an all around bullet, it also needs to function in lever guns. Hard to beat the 255 (265 grainer) RNFP in that regard - one load for both rifle and pistol…Good shootin' to ya...

      Kenneth Elston - And thank YOU for taking the time to post the good word. I really do believe that, if it hadn't been for the fine encouragement from viewers like yourself, that if a YT poster feels that he or she is Tubing into a vacuum, why do it? We all have better things to do…Have a great day

    great tutorial FortuneCookie45LC , I like dual purpose type bullets for use in more than 1 cartridge, like a 230 LRN for 45acp and 45lC

      Jon- I think it's about time after getting a RN mold for my first mold, using it once - and then never buying another RN mold, that FC45LC buys his first 6 cavity RN mold…Thanks for spurring this idea - Have a great day...

    The new caster should also know that the basic profiles are available in different weights from the standards as well. Additionally, several companies offer services to hollow point existing molds, or custom design bullets molds either to a new profile, or with altered diameter to match an unusual bore.

    Excellent review, however you did not mention hollow base bullets for use in Colt 45, I think these are very useful for old Colt revolvers due to these having varying chamber/bore sizes since the bullet "upsets" more easily to fit the chamber.

    • @FortuneCookie45LC
      @FortuneCookie45LC  Před 10 lety

      Englishman French - Thanks for your comment. It's the Minie Ball concept in 45 Colt! Part of the reason I omitted them is that I own no old Colts. All my 45 Colts shoot the current molds excellently. I would have gone into HPs before HBs. There are HP molds available, but I never got into those because I can't stand casting one bullet at a time...Have a great day

    Nice video. I know you like Lee Molds and I would like you to explain why Lee molds are so much cheaper then Lyman etc.... Are they the same quality molds as steel molds? Lee goes thru the same manufacturing process as the others do and is able to keep there cost low. Maybe you could make a video explaining the differences be tween the mold manufactures. I know it would a great video. As Always, Hank

    • @FortuneCookie45LC
      @FortuneCookie45LC  Před 10 lety

      HammeringHank100-Always good to hear from you, Hank…The Lee molds are easier and cheaper to machine than the iron-steel molds from Lyman, SAECO, RCBS ets. And the iron has to be heat treated also extra steps to manufacture raises the costs. That video would be very interesting, but if I did it, I'd like to actually tour the factories where the molds are made - and that would not be practical for me to do. The computer cutting cherries whip out more molds from soft aluminum than with the iron-steel. Best Regards...

    I realize this is an older video, but I was curious how you determine what hardness you want for the bullets you cast? I would like to cast some for my Winchester Model 73 in 45 Colt and am unsure if Lyman #2 or hardball by Rotometals is a good choice or if it should be softer, etc.

    I would like to start doing my own Cas as well what would you recommend 45 ACP 38 special for self-defense and target practice ? Thank you for all the information and as always great video

    • @FortuneCookie45LC
      @FortuneCookie45LC  Před 7 lety

      Josue Galdamez - That is a very difficult question to answer without parameters...like what gun are we talking about? If the 1911 45 ACP, feeding issues would have bearing on the answer. With the 38, what gun and barrel length? Defense ammo is a very big subject... Best to ya, FC

    • @flamesna4938
      @flamesna4938 Před 7 lety

      well I have a 1911 llama ixa 45 acp and a Taurus short barrel 38 special

    • @FortuneCookie45LC
      @FortuneCookie45LC  Před 7 lety

      Josue Galdamez - If your Llama shoots well with RN bullets, then the 230 grain Round Nose bullet molds are the ones for you. If your gun runs well with truncated cone bullets, you can go with the 230 grain Truncated Cone bullets. For 38 snubbies, you can cast 125 grain SWCs and shoot them at 950 fps or load 158 grain SWCs at 750 fps. However, for your snubbie, I'd buy the best 110-125 grain JHP factory defense ammo available, and save all the cast stuff for practice and recreation....Best to ya, FC
