This is the first car I crashed!
Plz do gone but not forgotten on Toyota Qualis
My first car that I learnt to drive on....was the facelifted model from 2005 ❤️ with crystalline headlights 😀
PLEASE CAN YOU MAKE A VIDEO ON ESTEEM PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!°°
Our first family “Ac” maruti 800 when I was in my 7th standard in the year 2000. I used to admire the car daily looking at my dad driving it that’s exactly when I became an automobile enthusiast. Without having any driving experience I took out the car for a drive in my 8th standard when dad was out of town and mom sleeping at home I slowly sneaked out. Drove for almost 2kms by the time I came back home to park outside I see my entire colony aunties along with my mom waiting outside my house worried how could I drive a car all alone at that age. I thought my mom would thrash me that I took the car out but it was opposite she was very surprised that how could I drive a car. Well she was worried too for me at the same time. Once my dad came back from his out station film shoot my dad had asked me to sit on his lap and asked me to handle the steering and I told him I can drive the car all by myself and got my 2nd chance to drive it and proved it in front of him. I still remember the heroic feeling inside me driving our very own 800 having my dad next to me. Maruti 800 my first 4 wheel drive experience will never forget in my life.
What an awesome story!
This guy will get 100 out of 100 in essay 😂
I live in Hungary, one of the lucky countries that imported Marutis starting from the end of the 80's. I currently own a 94' Maruti 800 and love that thing. I'm trying to keep it in good condition, people still come to me and compliment my little car. No modern or newer car can give that feeling :)
Also, is it really gone? I'm not sure. I still can get anything for it even in Hungary!
Pls send a pic i want to see your car.
Yeah, the production was rolled off in January 2014. But plethora of Maruti 800 are availabe in used car market. Also gone were the days when MS used to build good quality car, now all we get is tin cans.
Yeah Hungary... Oliver Amon's Country...👍😊
Really want to see that beauty..willing to share the pic?

Like everybody else, our first car was the Maruti 800, specifically the 2001 Maruti 800 STD in Ruby Red. It’s the one where my dad learnt to drive, I learnt to drive, my sister learnt to drive and a dozen other people learnt to drive ! I remember the moment we got the car, we headed straight to JC Road (in Bangalore) to customize it with “fancy” seat covers, sunfilms and a music system with front tweeters !!!!! Nowadays when you buy a car, it’s no big deal. But back in the day, the entire neighborhood welcomed the arrival of the car and even made a few people jealous !
Even though it was extremely fuel efficient, we parked it most of the time and used only when the weather was bad. Otherwise, it was 3 sometimes 4 people on our motorbike. Later the running costs became “too much” that we converted to LPG (CNG was unavailable in Bangalore). And by modern standard this car would be considered as a 2 + 2, but back in the day, it was a 5 seater minimum (children under 18 do not count)
The car ran and ran without any issues whatsoever. We did long distance drives without even thinking twice. Even though we’ve all moved on from the 800 to more modern cars, the sense of occasion & excitement when buying the 800 is still unmatched. The memories we have of that car is still number one. And it’ll stay number one forever !
Lovely story. Thanks for sharing!
My brother and I have this memory of going to Bangalore to visit our granny during summer vacations, she has a maroon M800 which she drove until she was 70, we wait till she goes to take her afternoon nap silently we take the key from over the fridge and go to the basement to try to reverse park it😂 , she is 95 now and I'm 22 hoping she will hand it over to me soon💯
Nice story
Tulla!
I have the maruti 800, California gold color, 5 speed, 2000 August model, done over 1 lakh kms till date, original paint & A/C in working condition. I am using it daily to travel. Second Green Tax valid till 2025. It's a beautiful car in top condition. I love the car. It's a center of attraction when I travel and people ask questions about the car, even though there are more modern cars around. I feel great & proud when I drive.
Really good car
I also proud owner 1993 Maruti 800. now also running.
sanjay pune
My father had the 800 dx and I learnt driving in it. It was during my early college days and I remember how lovely it was to drive. I felt proud that it had 45 bhp and 5 speed! It was low to the ground it was fun to drive and sometimes when I could get in and out of corners fast enough even the tyres would squeal a bit. Thanks evo India for bringing back the lovely memories.
Damm those days hit hard... so much memories...traveling with family and struggling for seating comfortably... But those days were bliss❤️✨
Bliss ✌️
I still ride 800 which 9s 26 years old ,my neighbours and relatives say i am poor ,but internally i will be laughing because I have 25 years old memories which expensnive car owers wont have .
i have track record feel
what else u need
I love my 800 dads car
Best series for a car enthusiast♥️
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Damn good and thank you guys for this trip down the memory lane. I was waiting for this episode on Maruti 800. We brought home our first car, the Maruti 800 (silver colour or silk silver as it was called then) in the year 2007. It was an update to the third generation with a new perforated styled grill. What can I say about this little car, this is the car that introduced me to the "Thrill of Driving" that I have now with Cars. It never failed us, 5 people AC on but still never broke down - nothing. Absolute Gem. We had to eventually sell it in 2018 due to parking space issues where we stay and upgraded to Hyundai Grand i10. But even now also, that Maruti 800 holds special place in my heart. No matter what I drive now or upgrade to, will never forget this car.
My father bought Maruti 800 EX Third Generation model in the year of 1999, it's still running very smoothly... we had a great memories with our car...
Thanks for making the video...
Still owning 2007 Maruthi 800... still enjoying....
This channel srsly deserves more than a million subs ✌🏻
The 1995 facelift didn't stop with just a new grill.
The bonnet lock changed, The hubcaps changed from metal to plastic, The rear split seats were introduced (though a little later in 1996), The front park lamps changed, Front Seatbelts were made standard and it was not the 5 speed which debuted the intermittent wipers. The 1995 model had it even in the base varient.
The hub caps were plastic before 95. I had a 94 model and it had black plastic hub caps
@@jalexrosh yeah in 93 they introduced the black colord plastic hub caps.. that was the very first facelifted model which got that.. n we owned that very first facelifted model.. it was a beast back then , its a legend now.. but sadly we had to scrap it coz mumbai just got the worst weather n made the body completely rusty n getting proper parts was a hassle.. but still 25+ yrs with this car - Maruti 800 proudly owned ❤️
Hey great video. Again took me back to time. My dad purchased the 2nd generation somewhere around 1987. The whole colony where I lived then had come to see the car turn by turn and I was only too protective as a 10 year of the new purchase. After riding in an Ambi and Fiat, Maruti felt like heaven. We purchased the car from Enpak Motors, one of the few agencies that sprang up in Bombay cashing in on the Maruti name. Maruti has stood the test of time in India.
maruti 800 is an emotion
i still remember sitting on my dads lap & starring car left right
Kudos to evo india for such an amazing series ...there are very few videos which I stream on big screen and this is the one..I really wait for these videos ..
Please continue this series
My dad had SB 308, my cousin crashed it during the initial learning days and we had to scrap it. After years of search I found a 5speed and will be restoring it soon. 🤘😁
after restoring it...i bet that people will. stop you and will compliment u for your little beauty..as they compliment me......from jammu nd kashmir
My 1999 (carb) 800 ,4 speed still is a work horse and highway machine
For being work horse it carries nearly 10+1 people to coffee estate, when seats folded it carries fertilizers,
For being on highways even after clocking 3L + kms on odo it still put out 25+ kmpl thats a mind blowing engine that is capable of cruising at 100kmph all day with 26 liters tank.
Pocket rocket 100%
Even if you make a 3rd episode on the 800, I would not blame you for that. Great stuff. Epic car.
I had fallen in love the Maruti 800 second generation when I was 3 years old. During our family vacation in Kerala(Yes, I was in Doha-Qatar) it was a dream to have one of these or sit inside. The epic part of the car is the Japanese angry looking face designed wheels and that I would never stop staring on. And in pasts, the A/C in 800 was the best feature in that class.
Then my uncle bought one in Bangalore, I was so excited and travelled all over in the city which made me thrilled and happy.
Then secondly, fell in love with ‘Gypsy’-I request you to put next episode.
We will do one on the Gypsy for sure

Scorpio also please
I love this series! Learning about different car cultures from around the world is very interesting. Greetings from Finland.
I stilll have maruthi 800 its just a beasttt, a lengend 🔥🔥🔥🔥
My friend's dad had one 3rd gen back in 2005..we still remember coming back from school in the 800 and my family owned a maruti omni for 12 years..what a car it was, that heavy mechanical steering,RWD,sold it last week due to its age and increasing maintenance/breakdown,but loved the car... please make a vedio on omni...very few people know what a car it was, driving our car brought a smile on many people's face..still unable to answer everyone questions why we sold the car 😀
Thanks for taking me back to the 80s - to a country which was on the threshold of industrialisation
Brings back alot of memories
Such a good series I’ll tell u!.Just brought back all the memories of my grandpa’s 2nd gen 800.
🤗
Simply amazing stuff. Thanks a ton!
Love this series ❤️
Hi. I have watched your videos on Zen and Maruti 800, and just loved them. Awesome content and storyline.
I am one of those 90’s guy, who were lucky enough to get a hand on these Maruti’s!
Your throwback videos just made me feel nostalgic and emotional, being a car maniac myself! Thank you so much for reminding us about good old 90’s days.
Lastly, a request from my side; can you please come up with similar stories on Maruti Esteem and Mitsubishi Lancer, if possible.
Thank you👍
This is such an iconic car. This was my family's first car the 800AC and also SS80 was the car used for my father's wedding. Such a nostalgia watching this video.
Which year
we want it back❤️
This brings back memories, wish one day I could buy it back.
My Tauji has a 1994 Maruti Suzuki 800. It's powered by a carburettor engine and driving that car is a completely different experience. I do enjoy the feel. Modern cars with all the bells and whistles can never deliver that raw mechanical and involving feel.
We had the quick silver version which started in early 2000's. It was a dream come true when I saw it for the first time.
The very first facelifted model from MARUTI the iconic Maruti 800 we owned that very first facelifted model.. it was a beast back then , drove it across the Sela pass (highest motorable road in north eastern india ) in Arunachal Pradesh n cross country drive from Delhi to Mumbai via multiple states covering north to western India back in 1996, and many more road trips across India n clocked close to 1 lakh+ kilometers,
its a legend now.. n the fact that i could learn to drive on this beast its amazing, but sadly we had to scrap it back in 2019 coz mumbai just got the worst weather n made the body completely rusty n getting proper parts was a hassle.. but still 25+ yrs with this car - MARUTI 800 proudly owned ❤️
The fun in driving a Maruti 800 is amazing....♥️♥️♥️♥️
Sir great story and that days with maruti 800 we just love 800 still in 2021
Wow what a series ! was waiting for it since a very long time 🥳🥳🔥🔥🔥💯
🙏
That white maruti 800!
Baba bought her home when I was 3 (in 1996) and she left us in 2017. Other cars came and left (Indica and Santro) but baba loved her more than anything else. So many memories, I learnt how to drive a car because of her and I have driven quite a few with my baba next to me but nothing beats his attention to my hands on the steering wheel.
I like this nostalgic series!
🙏
The automotive game changer of india.

hey evo india ...........gr8 content.....i am a gen z car enthusiast and i love classic cars.....this series on og cars is awesome and informative....i have extensive info on classic cars and muscle cars and suvs and trucks.....but all are mostly limited to western cars and companies...their history n rivalry n stuff
always wanted to know more abt the 60s to 90s car scene in india but couldn't get much detailed and trusted info on the internet.
gr8 work

This car is still in our hearts in the better place we have the 1st facelift of the car cb308
Those were nostalgic days truly 🥰
Love to watch next episode on Maruti 1000
पुरानी कारें बैहतरिन कारें 😊
Love every bit of this content
Nice one Sirish and Evo! We had 3 Maruti 800s and the last one was repainted to a sarkari white and handed on to my brother as his college car - The M800 Thunderbolt as I nicknamed it! Also, World Car Guide for the win! My grandma gifted 2 year old me the 1989 edition (with the Testarossa on the cover!) and that's where my car obsession started! Bought every annual edition that followed - damn, it deserves a Gone but not forgotten episode of its own!
We owned 2 maruti 800. First was second hand in 95 on which my dad statted driving and then 99 first lot dx 5 spd ac .. and my dad still calls that a jet..
Every motor head had to get a World Car Guide every year, even if pocket money meant a 2 year old copy! Good old days…
I can so relate when you said we got fascinated on looking at the air control dials, my dad got a 83 model Maruti 800 which I grew up to and those knobs and switches were such a wow, it did not had heater or Aircon so those did not work except the blower but then rotating them was just wow 😂. Then we got the last generation of 800 on 2004 which had AC but still had no heater. Having heater in the car was a luxury then. This episode made me recall my childhood days. Thanks for this ❤️. Love you guys.
🤗🙏
Great video. I learnt to drive in a SB308. Nippy little car.
Love this series
It brings down the memory our college days when we used to do drifting on 1992 model 😁😁
Drifting 😅
Maruti800😍 it gives lots of good memories ❤️
This car brings good memories with it…
This episode s too good to watch only one time
Great episode! Appreciate you guys for showcasing a legend of the Indian automotive sector. The 800 was our first car, bought in 2004. Unfortunately, it got submerged in the 2005 Mumbai floods. Even then, we made all the necessary repairs and used it right up till 2014. The funny part is, it broke down a couple of times at or near our destination but never left us stranded! It was our first family car, the first car I learned to drive, and the first of so many memories. Truly a legend! 💖
A legend !
Had 1992 model 800... The waiting period back then was 1 year!!! Hugely popular car with great reliability... Did 1 lakh+ kms in 12 years before switching to the 2003 Santro XG. Best bit about the 800 was it's sporty looking dash... Really loved it as a kid!!
Sporty looking? Ever been in a sport car?
This particular car which actually made us acquire knowledge and the concept of what is hatchback defines...
good one , keep going!
CJ3B, Gypsy, Contessa and Omni next!
I have a Maruti 800 which is 16 years old,,the MPFI 37bhp . My dad bought it in 2005, still with me,,,,the pocket rocket and I love it ,,,,it puts a smile on my face every time I drove. My daily car and many sweet and adventurous memories with it. Still well maintained and ❤️❤️❤️ ,,,, the practicality is when you drive through cities, easy to park, overtake etc.......
Wowwwww... Simply wowwww...
I'm in love with your "Gone But Not Forgotten" series. Can you guys make a video on "118 NE"?
The 800! The OG looks sick! 🔥
This video deserves a lot more views!!! Regardless the Tin Can comment... 800 was is and will remain a OG!
Wow Sirish, a remarkable and nostalgic review! My mum still has her SB308, bought in 1997. I learnt to drive with it. Used to sneak it out in the building premises just to get a hang.
She still spends so much to keep it in shape and its a pity that it has to go by next year due to the scrappage policy. She's gonna shed a few tears for sure!
She's just ever so used to that car that she calls our Polo "too big" and never likes driving it.
We also had a nice number 4424 that we got for the Polo as well.
Once again, great review that really got me on a memory flash.
Look forward to see you guys in Goa with the Kigers!
P.S- ours has the seatbelts and intermittent wipers!😉
That’s lovely your mum still has hers. Don’t worry scrappage is voluntary. Keep the car
I just learned about the scrappage, many farmers, even here in usa love interesting old farm cars and trucks, and often have the means to make them more efficient. Maybe you can look into exporting them?
Goan?
@@cavann_2005. yeah
Brought back memories of our 2000 model 800 DX 5 speed........

This is an emotion, more than a car for Indian Motorists.
Team Evo please keep going on with the series. Just awesome
Looking forward for an Alto, Santro, Esteem, Safari and many more
Thank you!
Learnt to drive on this car! Always special
this cars have a different vibe!!😚
Remember the Zen classic😍😍😍
Of course that was the first episode of Gone But Not Forgotten
still got maruti 800 mpfi 5 speed and zen mpfi with me . and yeah it feels great when ever i rides it. never going to sell them . i searched 800 5 speed for months and it was a save from a scrap yard. we did some works to get it back to running conditions. slowly we upgraded and now it's my daily runner and running sweet .. it feels happy to own this cutest small cars in the garage.
I wish if evo team could arrange a maruti 800 meet in Pune . Evo team always do their best
We got our first car in December, 2002 and that was the legendary Maruti 800(white). I remembered once 7 numbers of adults sat on our car and drove for 100kms, it was an emergency situation then. I still keep my first family car(maruti 800) in my garage neat and clean. Sometimes people come and asks me of selling it rather in a good price as it be expected but to me it's priceless and I put a smile on my face and say them that rather I will offer you some for not asking me to sell it. Now I drive my 800 only special occasions as if a king of cars is on the road to watch his kingdom.
King of cars 😁
M800 was my learning car in 1988 that is wat i remember 👍🙋♂️
My dad's new green colour car which he bought brand new in 1995 ❤️❤️❤️ 800 non-ac... I learnt driving in it in 2002 🎊🎊 such a superb engine it was though was a carburretor one... Still love it a lottt... Nostalgic one its always... 🤩
really an iconic car for indian motoring
True that
yes it is a beautiful car, i still own a 2003 mpfi model 1lakh kms completed and still in good running condition. very good video. thank you.
You must cover Santro's amazing entry into the Indian Auto Market. We have a Santro in Pakistan still with us since 2003 and its a gorgeous car.
Look forward to see an episode like this for maruti omni van..
Indra G is a great visionary ❤❤
SS80 is a gem ❤❤
Still using 1998 model as a daily commuter. Though I own Alto 800, Swift dezire, Mahindra Bolero, Mahindra Xylo and Mahindra Scorpio...
My first love is Maruti 800.
It's perfect for daily use, city driving and even long drive for 2,3 people.
Cool speedmaster man!
We had a 96- M800 for 6 years , where i learned driving and it was replaced by 2002 zen LX and we still maintaining it like Gem💚
Wanted one. Learned driving on it. By the time I had to buy there were lots of options.
Now I'm having a ss80 1984...its road presents is just 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Its 2023, and I have a 2008 Maruthi 800 and even last week, a Hyundai i20 came aside and asked me if I have done any modifications to my engine. I said 'nah' its a stock engine. But still I was able to zoom past everyone in the green signal like a flash. My 800 goes from 0-100 in 12 seconds and still drives like a boss. It was a grandmother's car and I used to do little skids and stuff with her inside. Its where my heart is ♥💯 #Maruthi800
I have one SB 308 .... 1996 model....Such a nice car & maintained smooth...
Nice episode. ❤️
But a really long wait. !! 😐
The palio is a must on this series. The true hot hatch.
Yes!
The most underrated channel
Evo India gives quality content unlike anyone and Sirish sir is fab as always.
So nostalgic video..this car ran for almost 40 years in Pakistan got discontinued in 2019...I still have the 1995 model with me.
We have a 21-year-old Matiz in our family! the interior is futuristic, considered it is a 2000 year model. and it drives well. I think you should make an episode with Matiz as well.
