I do have the same car in my garage 1997 registered done around 120000km till date without any major breakdown and the car is still working fine with original paint being the first owner of the car we had a great ownership experience...
My father's first vehicle was Maruti 800, that too which he got it on second hand for 40k.. Today he drives XUV 700.. Still he claims that 800 is the best in terms of peace of mind and maintenance ❤
I still daily drive a 87 800. The car is 16 years older than me yet i love it to the core and wouldn't sell it for the world.
It's still a greener car than the modern crossovers and so cheap to maintain and run. It's the most heart filling car to drive.
Mileage and cost of service?
Well, Mileage for very hard driving in the city I get around 15 - 16 kmpl. If you drive it conservatively it gives more but I never do that. And in terms of maintenance, spares are dirt cheap like a set of fouur tires cost only 4800 rs and a clutch plate only costs like 800 rs and fuel pump costed like 550rs its cheaper than a lot of modern motorcycles in terms on spares. But the main issue is that even though spares are cheap, labour isn't , usually the labour costs exceed the spares cost so unless or until you wanna work on it yourself , the maintenance will be a but high because of the labour cost and since it is an old car it does require upkeep. but if you are like me and you like to work on it then its seriously dirt cheap to keep it running...hope that helps@@bshiva6620

The Point setting and Dristibutor ignition timing settings are very delicate in these cars and PUC certificate is fully dependent on the Carburettor and Point Condenser Settings.

I can see the owner scared when parth pushed the accelerator harder on the start(probably because he was not familiar at first about the throttle input). Exactly what i feel like when mechanics are revving the engine like morons on standstill. Owner started it smoothly. Easily shows his connection towards the vehicle. Sometimes when you go to a garage or mechanics , they don't understand the feeling the beloved owner has against its vehicle. They feel shocked or crib like it is already old , why care ? But this is something which can be justified properly but not to a normal person. Moral of the story : try your best to learn fixing your own vehicle occasionally, atleast for basic maintenance and small mishaps.

What you siad is right brother......Mine 1999 Model, 2022 March my friend had taken to Tiruvannamalai from Bangalore suddenly car stopped in the middle of the road and I he gave to a wrong mechanic and he spoiled the carburetor and some how I drove back to bangalore, from then I am facing with carburetor issue, request all not to give a wrong mechanic or to unknown mechanic.

The self is taking round just coz the Points are not accurately set which is set by a Analog Meter with Dwell angle and RPM mode setting.

My father use 3 800 1988-1992 (MH-10-0307) , 1992-1996 this car met with an accident in BELGAV ,1996-2005 (GA-02-A-8234 new owner changed number MH-10-AG-****) I have lots of memories with this car now I am looking to buy back my car 1996-2005 (8234❤)
My Eyes went Wet for my Beloved 99 model MARUTI 800 STD. I Scrapped her last April and bought Alto 800 VXI. My Repentation will last till the last day of my life.

We don't have to use accelerator to start just touch the key and in half Round the Engine should come into life if the Points are MGP points and set accurately.

Remember when Maruti used to give quarter glasses back in 1995 but fail to do so nowadays!! I just dont get it kya hota hai udhar handle laga kar? Glass area should be increased
