pro tip! when you put the back plate on the wall put one anchor in the corner and level it and drill in a screw barley to keep the back plate up! then, put another anchor on the opposite corner and mock it up. you should be able to mark your holes with your sharpee and it being totally level without doing it with one hand! Tho i’m 20 years old there’s always a better way to do things😅 I see you have a lot of pride with your work and I look up to you for it. keep hustling 💪🏾
Thanks mate. Another handy tip, screw the backplate into the wall with 1 screw in the centre only. Then cut the hole before putting the rest of the screws into the backplate. That way if there is a timber or pipe in the wall where the hole is, you can still move the backplate right and it will cover the hole and also that screw hole. 🤙🏼

Great video. I just got a quote for installing ductless ac and can’t afford what they are charging (19,000 dollars for 5). I think I can do this but if the unit has to be charged with refrigerant that’s where I don’t feel comfortable doing it
You could always do it yourself but leave the evacuating and commissioning to a professional. That way you are saving money on the installation side of things but also have piece of mind getting it checked out by a professional.

I’m an installer as well but only a year in and I heard the flares are the most dreadful part of the install because if not done properly they tend to leak refrigerant. Now the questions:
1. About 1:25 there is red&black tool you used to aid you in making your lines level. Please identify. Cute, maybe I’ll buy, maybe not.
2. After that there is a tool with ratcheting action. It puts a threaded fastener in the drywall? Never seen anything like that for this purpose. Seems like a must have. Please identify.
3. About 4:26, at the top of the ladder he drills several small diameter holes. Daikin manual calls for a 2 and 5/16” hole, my rep says 3” to be safe. I reckon you drilled several smaller holes to make one big one as it is cheaper than a huge drill bit, and way easier of a mess to clean up. ??
4. The 5:10 shot of what Daikin calls “length of pipe/hose outside of unit” made me want to pause, go outside and smoke a cigarette. jk. But,
5:10 truly gives life to “A picture is worth a thousand words.”
5. Outstanding exterior shots to perfectly compliment the great interior photography.
6. Shout out to a competent electrician. Shout out to what should be the standard bearer of post-film production teams everywhere.

Thanks mate. So the Red and Black tool is a stud finder. It helps me locate timber studs to screw into. The ratchet tool is for the hollow wall anchors I was using. They are the best hollow wall anchors I’ve ever used and highly recommend. I do own a core hole drill bit but honestly it’s just quicker to stitch drill smaller holes and then chisel the brick out. I’m a Fridgy in Brisbane and am a bit slow on the split installs, any tips for me to get a little quicker?? Also what do you use for your penetrations in brick/block work? (Masonry hole saw??)

Thanks so much for the comment Ian. I appreciate it. I own a masonry hole saw for the penetration into brickwork however I pretty much always just stitch drill the brick with a 10mm sds drill bit and then chisel it out because I think it makes less dust and is just as quick.
In regards to doing the installs quicker, I’m probably not the best person to ask. I’m actually pretty slow myself to be honest haha. I just take my time and make everything neat. In my opinion, people employ you because you install quality, not because you install it quickly. So who cares how long it takes. There are so many people who slap in Air Conditioners but not many people who take pride in their work unfortunately.

Great Video Mitch. What size was this unit. I am in process of buying the Cora 7.1Kw. The lineset is 15.9mm and 9mm. Does the Cora 7.1kw inside unit have the same setup as you had in this unit where you straightened out the inside unit pipes and fed them out and joined them to the lineset in the ductwork OR do I have to bring the lineset inside house and connect them to inside unit at the unit itself?

Thanks mate. My vac pump is JB industries. It’s a 2 stage pump with a 15 micron rating. To be honest I think there are plenty of better vacuum pumps out there. I’m due for an upgrade I think. The gauges are good though. I’m currently using Rothenburg gauges. 👍🏻
Can the line set/drain/whip exit from the left side (facing the evap unit) of my Daikin 1 ton mini split. If it can, sure would make my install neater looking. Thanks for your video.
You can run the pipe out the left of the unit however it just means you’ll have the flare connections behind the Air Conditioner inside the house not outside like normal. Totally fine, just a different installation technique.

Whats that tool you use to cut out the rectangular hole next to the backplate? Wall is gypsum board?
In Australia we call it Gyprock and that tool is a gyprock saw 👍🏻
What type of wall anchors did you use for the condenser bracket?

Thanks mate. These days, all the units come pre charged with refrigerant. You’ll need to add more refrigerant if you have a long pipe run though. How much refrigerant the unit is pre charged with varies from brand to brand.
Hi mate,is it compulsory to check the gas leakage in outdoor unit with soap water coz while installing the ac the technician told me it's not mandatory ,he said he is sure there is no leakage without checking.pls let me know thanks.
You don’t need to check with soapy water. The technician would of already known when he evacuated the system if there was a leak.

Nice job! How noisy are the outdoor units? I am looking at getting one of these multi split for our bedrooms. We had a cheapy Midea unit installed a while ago in the kitchen and the outdoor unit either seems to be running at full bore or not at all, and is way too noisy at night with a noisy compressor.
It sounds like that Midea unit was not an inverter, inverter Air Conditioners are definitely quieter in my opinion. In any case, the Daikin units have a night time mode where the outdoor unit doesn’t ramp up to keep the noise levels as low as possible whilst still cooling or heating the space.

Do you require isolators near outdoor units for supply?
Yeah mate. This particular job had an Air Conditioner on the other side of the house. I disconnected and removed that air conditioner and ran the power cable over to this side of the house and ran it down the wall in a conduit as seen in the video. I had my Electrician come and run a thicker cable and upsize the circuit breaker for me later that week. Unfortunately I’m not licensed to do any of that stuff. Anyway long story short, the electrician upgraded the electrical circuit completely and included an isolator. The reason the electrical circuit got upgraded was because the length of the run was longer and the unit was bigger.

Thanks mate! The main supply is fed from the electrical switchboard on the other side of the house. The cable goes through the roof cavity and down the conduit you can see next the the pipe duct in the video.
You should definitely have a designated Electrical circuit for an Air Conditioner. 👍🏻

Do you mean we need to get the supply directly from the main switch board? Are those supplies need to be separate for each aircon? And would be pointless to get a PowerPoint inside the house where we would like an aircon to be install?
@@gauravkapadia17 No worries mate. Yeah so you will need a cable for each unit. The cable will run from the main electrical switchboard to where the Air Conditioner will be located. Don’t worry about a power point, these things will be hard wired in.

@@gauravkapadia17 All good mate. I personally don’t recommend running an Air Conditioner off a general power circuit. The cost of running 3 more cables during a renovation won’t make that much of a difference to the end cost.
Where's the outdoor AC isolator?
I decommissioned and removed a Ducted Air Conditioner and relocated the electrical feed to this unit. The Electrician came the day after to install a smaller circuit breaker and an isolator.
Was this system pre-loaded with refrigerant? Lines too?

How does the indoor get power without L1 and L2 terminal?
Terminal 1 and 2 is Active and Neutral.

@@maracservices But it sounds like the electrician came back later and installed the service disconnect, yes? I assume you are not in the US, as that would not be the only issue with the installation code-wise here. Overall, neat, professional looking installation.
@@ericdaniels6795 Thanks mate. So in Australia a licensed Electrician will supply a designated circuit from the main switchboard to the Air Conditioners outdoor unit. They will install an isolation switch right next to the Outdoor unit. The indoor unit just taps off the outdoor unit. I have never seen an Electrician run a separate circuit for the indoor unit. Is that what they do in the US? If so that’s pretty impressive.
