    Watching this video from my hostel in Milan and just wanted to say this video series has been excellent. You've put a lot of thought into the videos and the content is tremendously valuable to someone making a similar trip. It's a wonderful thing that we can share knowledge and experiences and help each other to learn and avoid pitfalls online in this way. Keep up the good work - excited to see what's next for you!

      No it isn't... he sucks at what he is doing and is trying to make it look more complicated than it is. People can pack for a trip... you have all done it. This isn't complicated and you arent going to be away from civilization, anything you need you can buy. Are you really this slow or do you just think that people that you think are good looking can do no wrong?

    • @noahanderson14
      @noahanderson14  Před 2 měsíci

      Hi,@@thomgizziz ! My intention is not to make the packing process look more complicated. If anything, I was hoping that my video would help simplify the process. I made this video to showcase how condensed you can pack for a trip if you put the necessary time and thought into it. I would like to counter your reply though in that I believe that packing for a 3-month backpacking trip is quite complicated. This is another reason I made this video. I was super unsure of what to pack and how I was going to fit it all into a 40L backpack going into my trip. To me, this sort of video would have been super helpful, had I seen it before my trip. But obviously, to each their own. You are welcome to disagree with me. However, I think it's important to be incredibly intentional about each item, because otherwise it's super easy to overpack, and for me I wanted to keep my bag as light and small as possible to both save money and save effort in lugging around this bag everywhere I went. And I also wanted to be sure that I had everything that I might need. And you are totally right! I'm not "away from civilization" when you're backpacking Europe. You can buy anything you may need. But I'd like to counter this point too in that if you plan on buying extras when you get to your destination(s), you may be prone to overpack going into that, and you will also use some of your travel time to go and buy things. Also, a lot of the items may be different! For instance, I'm used to American toothpaste. I bought some toothpaste in Austria, and I don't really enjoy the way it tastes. Obviously, this is not the end of the world, but it is nice to have the comfort of the products that you're used to going into a trip like this. Embarking on a trip like this can be super nerve racking at first. I was totally nervous when I landed in Portugal. I also made this video to alleviate some of those nerves and stress for others. Obviously, it's not helpful to you, which is totally cool. I appreciate your comment regardless.

    • @noahanderson14
      @noahanderson14  Před 2 měsíci

      Yeah for sure! Your best bet is to lay them out as big as possible. For me, that generally meant placing them outside of a packing cube towards the top of my bag. Fold it in the standard way (how you would see a shirt at the store) and it won’t get quite as wrinkly. That’s probably your best bet.

    Great for summer but in winter items dont dry overnight etc. I need warm clothes in bag too. Aiming for a 30l backpack with no other bag. Will be a challenge. Last time ended up leaving and donating a case behind of winter stuff...plus my laptop which wiped off all my photos on cloud and webstick failed.. next time will just use memory cards. Cant carry much but will avoid losing my bag again!! Great tips thank you. Yes hostels had soap but preferred my own.. My priority would be stock of asthma inhalers as too costly to buy on the road plus a nice microfibre towel as never great in hostels..❤ One question do you use esim? Ftom Uk only reasonable flights are 1 bag only unless you pay priority!

    • @noahanderson14
      @noahanderson14  Před měsícem

      Just a 30L bag is quite impressive! Sorry to hear about your laptop. I kept an external hard drive on me in addition to my sd cards. It was nice to have that peace of mind that my footage was backed up just in case. I did use esim! I went with the T-mobile international plan. And yeah, limiting yourself to one carry on bag is a great move. It helps you avoid extra fees and keeping your load light is always a good move! :)

    did you use this bag in intercontinental flights like ryan air or wizz? did it fit in those steel frames/trays where the make you put in your bags to check size?

    • @noahanderson14
      @noahanderson14  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I used it on all 6 of my flights! I flew TAP Air Portugal, ITA Airways, and Ryan Air! I was never asked to put it into those steel frames! I think they only resort to that if your bag is clearly over the size limit. When you tuck the straps away with this bag, it looks quite small, which is why I think I never had an issue. When I measured it myself though, it was either at the carry-on limit or over it. Again, I don't think airlines will regularly check your bag dimensions unless it is egregious.

    Hi! I’ve really been enjoying the series. Heading to Europe this week. How do you recommend not overspending sightseeing in cities? Do you feel like by not going inside certain places you missed out on something, or do you think it was worth saving however much you did?

    • @noahanderson14
      @noahanderson14  Před 2 měsíci

      Honestly I never felt like I missed out when I skipped something. There were only usually like 1 or 2 things I wanted to do in each city and I always did those things. I also based it off of what I heard from others at the hostels. Big tip though is to bring your student card if you have one. You can save a lot of money at the sightseeing spots. But I definitely skipped a lot of stuff but I have no regrets. I think it’s very possible to do on a budget.

    • @noahanderson14
      @noahanderson14  Před 2 měsíci

      I’m actually working on a cost break down video right now. Ultimately I spent around $300 on excursions and sightseeing. Which breaks down to a bit over $4 a day. I also visited some really touristy areas, and saw so much stuff. I would just recommend prioritizing the stuff you want to see for sure and then go from there and see where your budget is at. Hopefully this helps!

    • @noahanderson14
      @noahanderson14  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Fair enough! And yes I was thinking of doing a Eurail pass explanation video as well! I think the pass is worth the money. But you should check how much it costs to buy each ticket out right and compare it to how much it would cost with the pass and reservation fees. And yeah sometimes flights can be really cheap in Europe! If you spend a couple hours doing some research for your specific itinerary you can definitely find some cheap options! :)

I showed my ID at first and they said they needed to see a passport. I think they were looking for someone on the train. Luckily, I had brought my bag with me (and passport), so I didn't have any issues. I pretty much always kept it in my bag, which stayed on me while I was traveling (outside of intracity travel.) But definitely a valid point, thanks for sharing.
