    I watched all Yamaha CK related videos you posted: and your videos are extremely well put together. Thank you so much for what you do and how you do! I love there is no stupid jokes and waste of time, and how informative you are with real gigging case scenarios. Everything I needed, you covered in your videos.

    Thanks for this. I was looking for exactly this info. I have a Fatar StudioLogic 88 key controller, and I’m considering getting an SK61 and was hoping that I could set it up to play piano/pad on the weighted 88 keys, and the B3 Organ sound on the SK61 (stacked on top) so this is exactly what I need to pull the trigger. Getting a whole new 88 key piano was something I didn’t really want (and I wanted the portability of the 61, plus the StudioLogic has better key action), but I will sometimes want to set it up like that with the two keyboards stacked, and this is perfect. The only thing better would be if the SK61 had waterfall keys, but it’s not a dealbreaker, especially at that price.

    Thanks for this Tony. I have a Yamaha P125 and also a CK61. I wanted to play some songs in our band using the P125 but with some of the sounds from the CK61. This presentation is exactly what I needed in order to set everything up correctly. Many thanks.

      Glad you found it helpful! Since the 125 doesn't have MIDI DIN out ports you might want to watch this one too; this box allows you to connect the 125 to the CK: czcams.com/video/tCPGI17cly8/video.html

      @@PianoTone thanks Tony. I had seen that one and I have a similar box made by Kenton. It works well. My only other issue is that i wish there was an option to turn midi off and save the setting on individual live sets. It would be good on some tracks to have the local sound of the P125 and the live set of the CK61. I haven’t found the option to do that.

    Hi Tony
    I have a Yamaha P125 which has USB B midi connectivity (but no 5 pin din midi) and I want to connect it to a Yamaha Reface YC which has midi breakout to two 5 pin din female connectors. What's the best was to connect these two keyboards ? Thanks and much appreciated

      Used an old MIDI cable -- the MPK225 now has a voice! Once you figure it out, the CK61 has flexible options. Surprised that the 225 keyboard sounds even better to my ears. Nice to have both options. Thanks!

    Hi Tony,
    I understood from your other video that CK61 can be setup to allow me to play two (lower and upper) manuals of an organ. I mean to play one manual on CK61 and the other on a MIDI controller.
    This would make CK61 a better choice than Hammond M-Solo.
    Can you confirm, please?
    Thank you,
    Michael

    • @PianoTone
      @PianoTone  Před měsícem +2

      I’m 99% sure this will work. I’m 100% sure you can have the CK keys control one channel (A for ex) and have an external controller control another (B) and have each one with their own voice setup, and I’m also pretty sure you can have the starting organ controls different for each (drawbars, Leslie etc); the only thing I’m not 100% sure on is can you turn the Leslie on and off, make drawbar changes etc on the fly and only have it effect one of the channels. It might work if you have a controller with 9 sliders you can setup to control the drawbars on the CK (just not 100% those will only control channel B and not both)

  • @ffrankAbad
    @ffrankAbad Před 10 měsíci +1

    Can you split two parts on the midi controller? for example one half of the midi controller with a string sound and the other half with a synth sound and the entire ck88 with a piano sound

    • @PianoTone
      @PianoTone  Před 10 měsíci +3

      I THINK so (sorry no MIDI board to confirm at the moment); but the thing I was wondering about was whether having the split only work on the external board would disable part of the CK range but it doesn’t!
      - split 3 ways, A,B,C
      - A=piano, ext keyboard off
      - B & C=the 2 sounds for the midi controller, set those layers to ext keyboard only
      When I did that I got the piano on the CK with all 88 keys (which is what I was worried about but it’s awesome)!
      If I had a midi controller handy I’d test the split but I’m betting it’s fine.

    Where can you set different midi transmit channels per zone?

  • @wireguy123
    @wireguy123 Před rokem +1

    Have a Nord Electro 5D and cannot get the Nord to send or CK to receive rotary commands. Does your CK receive rotary speed? turned midi control on tried external only

    • @PianoTone
      @PianoTone  Před rokem +1

      Don't know anything about the Nord, but rotary speed is CC number 9; one issue I noticed though is that there is no CC number to send for turning the rotary ON in the first place. So unless it is on, the remote board CC messages don't do anything; once it IS on, they work great.

    • @wireguy123
      @wireguy123 Před rokem +1

      You mean the CK does not receive CC9 at all?@@PianoTone

    • @PianoTone
      @PianoTone  Před rokem +1

      It does receive CC9, and if the rotary is turned on using the CK controls first (it can be stopped or slow or fast) then CC9 works to toggle between those options. If the rotary is not turned on first, then CC9 has no effect. There is no CC number on the CK for “turn rotary on”.
      For any live sets with organ voices, I’ve started saving them with the rotary on (even if it’s stopped) just in case I ever want to use that live set with an external controller

    • @CocoVonKokonut
      @CocoVonKokonut Před 9 měsíci +1

    • @PianoTone
      @PianoTone  Před 9 měsíci +2

      I don't know anything about external arpeggiators sorry! The CK does have 5 pin MIDI in ports, so something like this might work, but once again I know nothing about those, sorry!

    Hello,
    I have an FC5 switch pedal connected to pedal 2, which allows me to switch between Live sets. Is it possible to assign it to turn parts A,B,C on or off?
    Thank you

    • @PianoTone
      @PianoTone  Před rokem +2

      I don't think you can do that; if you get an expression pedal though, you can use it to move volume up and down on 1 or more parts.
